THR Hitch & Get Along<

Thank you for that @Jaycey - I will try those words on him tonight. I know that the surgeon is willing to meet with us any time this week if we want a face to face with him (again) before Monday morning.

Hi there @Alitm - thanks for popping by. I'm hanging in there . . . getting everything wrapped up the best I can at work. 5 more days . . .for me . . . 17 more days for you! How are you doing?

Hi @NanaKP Good luck with getting everything wrapped up at work. I'm sure you are feeling the pressure with all that. Will be checking on you!

Trying to keep the balance with not over doing it. Had a great chat with my physio yesterday. He gave me an ODI lecture...not that I am, but warning me not too "mess things up" by doing too much pre-surgery!! I've been seeing him for over three years now and we have an "understanding" :heehee:!

Went to see my four legged baby who is an hour away today. That was wonderful.

I'm looking forward to getting my other hip done, as I'm limping quite obviously on it now. I want to get on with life. However, I also know it is going to be tricky with righty still healing, and my hubby's surgery coming up at some point, and he'll out of action for quite awhile.....all a bit overwhelming sometimes, but so many others have it much worse! I just take it all in chunks of time, easier to think of it all that way. The not knowing about his dumb ultra-sound is keeping me up at night!:tiredwheel:.

Wishing you a comfortable evening  .

@Alitm - You certainly have a LOT going on. I worry about you keeping all of those balls up in there. So happy you were able to see your other 4 legged baby. They do so much with our state of happiness!!!

I'm very glad you and your OS have a great relationship, it is critical and I believe that the more they actually KNOW us, the better the outcome. Now if your poor husband can just get the ultrasound done! The waiting and wondering is the hardest for me always.

I just got a message from my OS's right hand gal (she's a total rock star) and she said the anesthesiologist that I had for my first hip is skipping his final day of vacation so he can be there on Monday for me. I am so humbled, he was so gracious and kind. My husband and I both really liked him (and it was the one thing that went by the book that day). Whew!

Hang in there, make sure you're still getting some rest/ice time! Let righty heal as much as possible!

Kim

What a great idea to schedule the other THR this far out - I'm hoping to do the same; hopefully delaying the inevitable until May or June.

@NanaKP Hello, just wanted to drop by and let you know thinking of you. Tomorrow is our big hurrah! My surgery is scheduled for 2pm, how about yours? :fasthorse:

I just wrote on your thread @SwampHiker. I thought about you today as I have been getting all of the bedding washed, everything cleaned, stocked up, put my car at our garage (my husband doesn't want me tempted to drive in the next couple of weeks), walker and crutches are in the car and I have my recliner "station" ready with my lap table, electric blanket, extra cheater glasses, etc.

We spent yesterday celebrating our middle grandson's 3rd birthday! It was a fairly large party so by the time we go home last night, I was pretty wiped out (I didn't host the party either but helping snag the almost 1 year old from the throes of danger and refilling juice glasses and party bags is a full time job!) We stopped by to see the boys today and took them new Bronco Jersey's which they immediately put on and played football (while the game was on). I'm a little sad that I won't see much of them the next few weeks but I am hoping for a smoother road this time.

My surgery time is 7 a.m. so we will be checking into the surgery center at 5:45. Our youngest daughter is driving the hour down from their home to sit with "dad" while I'm in the OR. My girls are so very sweet and we chat every day (several days) but they are "daddy's girls" to the core.

See you on the other side. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and wishing you only the very best!!

Here's to being a double-hippy for me (hopefully NOT a double GT fracture, hoping for the best!)

@NanaKP Sounds like you had a blast yesterday! I think you were being a superhero yesterday, I sure hope you had a cape - those little ones move quick! It was a great sendoff since you'll need to temporarily cut back the visits.

I'm glad your daughter will keep your hubby company.

Sounds like you are getting things in order there so you can rest a little more comfortably.

Tomorrow will be a great day! :dancy::egypdance:

Wishing you all the best tomorrow! It sounds like you're ready to roll.
It's nice you fit in some special family time this weekend.
You're turn is bright and early on the OR schedule. You'll be in recovery before you know it.
We'll be thinking of you and will look forward to your first post.
May your sleep tonight be sweet.
@NanaKP

All the best today! See you on the other side soon!

Wrote on your old thread I suppose...but let me also add my well wishes.
New double hippy to greet on the healing side.:egypdance:

Prayers for nothing but success as you move through your big day. :prayer:
Sending a warm hug and healing wishes your way.
@NanaKP

Hello @NanaKP I hope your are home and healing well. I'm heading home in a little bit. Sending healing energy and positive vibes your way!

Hi @NanaKP, hoping you are at home now and feeling comfortable. Thinking about you and sending lots off positive healing thoughts!!

Greetings everyone - I am now day #3 post op. All went well with this surgery, my OS assured my husband that there are "NO CRACKS OR BREAKS". Whew. I ended up having to spend the night because my right foot didn't want to wake-up. Because we did the surgery at a surgical center, not only did I have my own one on one nurse all day in recovery, I had two nurses who spent the night with us. I just cannot say enough about the entire staff there, they are so personable and helpful.

My husband has been my sidekick 24/7 but today backed off enough to let me try to use the restroom on my own and I did it successfully! It's the small things, right? I've done a couple of laps here and there in the heated garage but otherwise walking to/from the bathroom has been it (oh and up/down two flights of stairs yesterday to take a blissful shower).

I feel quite even now that hip #2 is done and though the hardware is still going to be coming out, the pain in both hips has changed for the better. Amazing how much compromising I had been doing from both sides without even being aware of it. I will also add that had I gone with the right hip the first time and then the left, I would've known that something was very, VERY wrong. It has amazed both my husband and me how different things feel this time around, my range of motion and ability to stand up have shocked us too.

The cold & snow are supposed to roll in any time this afternoon so I have my M&Ms by my side, my large cup of ice water and the Hallmark channel ready to go! Thank you to everyone for your positive thoughts on Monday!

@NanaKP Welcome to the other side again and to the double hippie club. You sound really good! Positive attitude goes a long way in this process. Snuggle down if the weather is turning. Time for rest, ice and elevation! You are on your way!

This experience sounds much more positive for you! I can't even imagine what a relief it must be to have this hip surgery behind you.

You and I have the same recovery station going on - Hallmark channel, water, I have peanut butter cups instead of M&M's though!

Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery over there :friends:
