My thumbnail brushed over my scar this morning and took out a chunk of scab. Freaked me right out - thought for sure I was going to start gushing something. :shocked:

Going for a manicure, going for a manicure, going for a manicure..... :loveshwr::loveshwr::loveshwr:
 
@JennyLynne you should think about one of those mani/pedi people that come to the house. I had good luck with that last time.

@SE Florida just a mani today. I don't want to be sitting there too long and my nails take about 2 hours. Might go for a pedicure next week. Yep, May 1st birthday for me. :)
 
OMG, I didn't realize they took 2 hours! I certainly don't blame you for not having them both done at the same time, ouch!!!!! Hate to admit it, never had a manicure (gasp) just do 'em myself but it probably looks like it too :giggle: We're both May babies! Several in my family are too.......not so sure having that many bulls together is a good thing though! Have a good time today! :curtsey:
 
I'm not really sure @orange but we think about 50 feet per house. I know for my girlfriend in Michigan, my house would fit on her lot at least twice :heehee: Less rain here today but sunny so far so may make it out there today. Also going grocery shopping for the first time and out for dinner so might not.
 
@SE Florida Not all manicures take 2 hours. Many don't take much more than 30 minutes. I have very strong nails but get a bio-gel colour on them for extra strength and that has to cure under UV light so it takes a lot longer. I do like having my nails done.
I am seriously considering thinking of getting a lash tint & lift for myself for my birthday. They kind of perm your lashes with a bit of curl and then tint them black so it always looks like you have fresh mascara. Mascara seems to travel on me in recent years. I got lash extensions for a few years but one of RA medications causes my hair to fall out quicker than average so I was blowing my extensions too fast.
 
Oh, @Carriemay60 I should look into the lash curl and tint! As I've gotten older, my.lashes have gotten very short and straight. Just little nubbins sticking out. Mascara just looks silly on me so... Maybe that would help. :chinstroke:
 
Ladies, This is a FYI
Check with your OS on salon mani /pedis. Mine advised against them (infection risk)
If your OS gives you the okay, then by all means enjoy, if you're comfortable.
To me, the risk of infection is not worth it, I do my own pedi /polish at home. Please do your own research.

I found this online after I was advised against salon mani /pedis.

The basins of pedicure chairs can be drained out after each client, and even sprayed with disenfectant. However the real hidden issue has to do with what goes down the drain. In fact, the screens and tubes of foot spas often harbor biofilm, which is basically layers of cells and proteins which can be hard to remove and more importantly, cultivate bacterial growth from other people's skin or the water supply (in certain areas). So what this means is, even a little wipe down isn't doing much since it's all the debris you can't see in the filtration and drain systems which is the real problem. You have to ensure that the basins and the inner workings are disinfected after each use and cleaned nightly. Many cities regulate the cleaning procedures and require salons to keep cleaning logs. You can also opt for a salon or spa which does their pedicures in basins without drains; they'll use very large bowls instead which simply have to be cleaned and disinfected after each use.

@Carriemay60 I love lash extensions but haven't gotten them in years.......I sometimes wonder if I have any lashes OR eyebrows left anymore!!! Spoke with my brother in Chicago and they got 8" of snow yesterday. Crazy weather year!

I've also heard that one of the worst things you can do is shave your legs before visiting a salon for a pedi.
And most of us probably would, as not to appear poorly groomed.
Reportedly, small nicks women get via shaving aren't even visible to the naked eye but are an opening in the skin for an offending organism to enter. Scary.
