THR Here I go again!

Absolutely, @julesglass--the small things mean so much to all of us recovering hipsters. A full body stretch sounds lovely--not there yet, but soon, I hope. Being able to resume doing something "normal" is cause for celebration. I had coffee in my recliner this morning, with the morning newspaper spread out over my lap along with an ice pack. Hip wasn't aching which was pretty blissful. It is so nice to read whenever a fellow hipster is slowly but surely able to resume those routines which lend purpose and pleasure to our lives before hip nonsense set in! I hope you have a wonderful Saturday.

Today was great. Got out in the yard three times today using the cane. Using the walker inside because my knee doesn't like the cane so much yet. It swelled up pretty good after first trip outside. I was up and down on the deck, to the garage and watering rose again. It was a lift to be in my jeans and t-shirt with my my KC chiefs hat. I did drive down to local quick shop for a tall boy beer. No worries, hadn't had pain pill for hours now. I'm sitting on my upper deck now listening to the locusts and children playing in the twilight. Fireflies aren't as plentiful, just a few now. Good night everyone in hippie land!

Morning everyone. Seems I'm having difficulty figuring out when enough is enough. I was enjoying myself so much yesterday and felt I was spacing activity correctly. It does seem to be a learning process. As I was going out enjoying a beautiful day I was also taking care of the dishes that had piled up over the week. Not alot mostly cups, glasses and a few plates. Did that in stages. Aching in the incision area, outer thigh and that upset knee now. I'm going to stay with the walker and ice up today. I'll venter out this evening on the upper deck, as it is already pretty warm out now. Got a few pots and pans left to do.. I'll wait till tomorrow for those. Coffee in bed for now with cat at on side and Lucy on the other looking out the window. She tells me when there is movement out there in the world. Not down on myself, just another lesson learned. You all have a nice Sunday.

It's definitely a fine line we're walking between overdoing and just feeling really good. Think hanging out with ice, the cat and Lucy sounds like a great plan. Did a quick run to grab a prescription and some groceries. Our little reprieve from humidity and high 90s was short lived. Felt like I was melting after our excursion and it wasn't even noon.
:ice:

Had an unexpected visit from a couple at work, it was nice. They brought me some shortbread cookies with a drop of jam on top and apricots. Wife pulled my rhubarb for me. I have enough for a couple of pies come winter or cook it down for sauce over ice cream. After they left another friend stopped by. He had been in the Guard with Keith back in the day and he stops by to see how I'm doing. Now I'm wore out so back to bed for a nap. It's been a restful day.

Good Afternoon @julesglass
I hope you have a nice nap. It is a balancing act at first. Tread lightly. You seem to be managing well and listening to your body when it says, ENOUGH. At only two and a half weeks post op it's still early days, sweetie.
Overall you're doing well it seems.
Hugs :friends:

:)You will get there...ebb and flow is often how it goes.
Hope today is a good day @julesglass

sounding good @julesglass !! Glad you have a new Rx and are enjoying your yard. You are probably past the need, now- but when we go out for errands, etc. I actually take two canes.. much easier than the walker and does the trick very nicely. If I don't need it, one just stays in the car.
The most offensive part about 2 canes is that they don't match :rotfl: so far the fashion police haven't reported me, though

Oh, boy, @julesglass, I think ALL recovering hipsters can appreciate the dilemma of trying to figure out how much activity we can tolerate without making things worse and, yes, I do think it's an ongoing struggle, with faltering steps forward followed by a few steps back. It can be, and will continue to be, frustrating as heck! Nice to have some visitors who not only brought goodies (mmm...love shortbread cookies!) but also helped with a pesky chore, the rhubarb pulling, that you couldn't manage for yourself--those are my kind of guests! Hope the rest of your weekend went well, and you're waking up to sunshine and a good day ahead for you! We'll all just "keep on keeping on", and we'll get there eventually.

Ahhh another beautiful morning for coffee outside. I love the mornings, backyard is all shady with my huge elm tree. I had ordered a new harness for Lucy, a combo back clip with a front clip. Lucy can be a puller and it takes some strength to get her to stop and sit for me to catch up to her. I saw on a video that the front clip harness will redirect the dog for training purposes. I found one online that had both front and back clips so to save from having to buy two. It came today and now progessing to make adjustments for the perfect fit. She looks like an "uptown" girl in her berry red fashion! I have her outside in the back so I can watch her move around to see here adjustments still need to made. I'm excited to see how well this works so we can go on evening walks like we did too long ago to remember. Going to Menards this evening for the chicken wire to protect my rose from unruly juvenile rabbits. I'll give an update on the harness after I walk her around the yard. :dogwalk:

:hi: Hello and Happy Monday!
Morning coffee outside under a shady Elm sounds peaceful. I can see why you'd enjoy starting your day that way. The fresh air, sounds of nature and with any luck blue skies and sunshine!
Have fun walking Lucy and enjoy the day!

I have the front and back clip harnesses for my boys too and they are BRILLIANT! Best bit of kit I have ever had for walking dogs safely and getting them to focus on me and not forge ahead. Hopefully you will find walking Lucy in these much easier than the conventional collar and lead. One of my boys is around 90 pounds and can pull like a train if he chooses, with the double connector harness he is an absolute dream. You will love it I am sure

Haven't tried the new harness out yet. Lucy seems to be self conscious of it. I told her she's cool looking in it, she isn't believing me. Had friends stop by again, so nice. I'll get Lucy to walk in the yard tomorrow morning with her new fashion. Such a beautiful day I was out all afternoon just sitting in the shade. Deb came over and we watched Grace and Frankie on Netflix, I love it! All in all a beautiful day relaxing in wonderful weather. Tomorrow I'll work on the chicken wire to protect my rose. Have a relaxing and restful night everyone, it does get better!

Off to a slow start, by choice. Weather continues to be refreshing. I got Lucy's fashionable harness adjusted properly and we went for a walk around the house. I love the front clip, Lucy walked so nice and bearly got a pull in with it. When she came up behind on my cane side she sat and waited for me to get her around to the left. It'll be interesting to see how well it works when we come across a cat however that won't be for awhile, I hope. :dogwalk:

I am betting you're enjoying your "refreshing" weather, @julesglass I normally adore summer weather here in the PNW, with lots of sunshine and blue skies, but I find I am loving even more these overcast days (like today) when it is cool and our upstairs bedroom isn't a hot sauna! Glad the new dog harness is working well and your canine companion is behaving herself on walks. Onwards--and have a great Tuesday.

Good Afternoon, @julesglass
The weather is great...I agree. Cooler and drier, finally! Windows open, fresh breeze blowing.
Enjoy your walks with Lucy, but hang on tight! :doggie:
Have a wonderful Tuesday

I am delighted you are enjoying the harness! Dogs are such perceptive creatures and hopefully she will think twice before deciding to chase the cats :heehee:
