THR Hawai'i Healing Hipster

Moving over here to not hijack @Poodles any more! If I take the 8 am flight, I will land in Honolulu about 3 pm.

I'm coming from flyover country (St. Louis) and it's more difficult to get to Oregon than to Hawai'i. Let's meet in Salt Lake City - flight leaves from there at 11:45.

Think @AgilityDog is wondering if I'm serious and might actually show up tomorrow? With me, only time will tell! (Of course, I might suggest Sunday instead of tomorrow so that I can go :happyfeet:tomorrow).

hahahahahaha! I guess tomorrow will be a bad day for me...I worked hard and got all my paperwork done (mostly medical bills) and I really want to search for antique relatives. Hmmmm, Salt Lake would be a good place to do that, too! Gary's are fun to work on. Looking for a 16-year-old boy that came from Germany alone on a ship in 1881. Narrowing down the search. 16-year-olds must have been more mature back then.

I love that he not only says he wants to help but that he's actually done tasks that are helpful to you! I remember washing dishes after lunch every day when I was in kindergarten. Never understood that the reason my mom always mopped afterwards was because there was a sinful of soapy water on the floor by the time I was done!:heehee:

Yes, you may have overdone it. You might be undermedicated too. Can you share a little more about your activity level and medication schedule? Are you doing PT?

My activity level is low. I spent most of the morning with my foot up & ice. I showered & rested for about 10 minutes. My grandson came over - I went outside for a few minutes and pulled some high branches off of the shefeleri. Put my foot up. I'm taking Tylenol 4x day, 5mg actavis ph generic 4x day, Tramadol 35mg at 5AM & 11PM

Another thought I had... My THR leg got shorter while I was waiting for surgery. THR restored it to its normal length, but I did have spasms for a while afterwards. So, that could be another cause.

I think it could be lots of things, actually. Spasms can be just another type of pain, like aching and stiffness, so your activity levels and pain meds can contribute to that. You're early in recovery though, so it's normal for things like this to happen and sometimes you don't even know why.

Okay. I'm definitely OK with Normal. I want to stop the Tramadol &so I cut them in half & then decreased the number of doses/day. I just took my Tylenol & muscle relaxer, @5. I got up & walked & could tell my thigh was tight. Have a great relaxing weekend, @alexthecat

Hi @AgilityDog
I don't recall having muscle spasms in my thigh post op but you aren't the first person I've heard questioning them. I believe muscle spasms can be considered a normal part of the healing process.
Obviously I can't give any advice on meds but if the spasms continue to be bothersome you may consider talking to your OS or trying a Magnesium supplement which can benefit the following:
Supports muscle relaxation and nerves
Promotes healthy sleep (falling asleep and staying asleep)
Supports bone health
Supports cardiovascular health
Supports healthy blood sugar

Following is an article from our library on Magnesium

Hope this helps. Have a great night!
