Bilateral THR Gretel post op<

I had posterior too @Gretel
Placing one of those rectangular shaped gel packs under the seat belt buckle and along my incision worked well for me.
My incision doesn't run underneath my rear at all.
Mine starts in the middle of the uppermost part of my thigh and curves toward my rear but in no way underneath it.
So @Mojo333 you never really sit on the ice pack, at least I didn't have to. You basically just lay it
in a North /South direction along your side, over the incision.
I used to sit close to the right arm of my recliner and just lay it in between the recliner arm and my incision.
Worked perfectly because it stayed in place. I fell asleep like that each night early on.
Hope you have a good day, Gretel!

Yes it’s not hard to get comfy on the wounds. My friend told me she needed to wear very soft clothing as she found her usual clothes very uncomfortable but I’ve not had any problems. I got a couple of ice packs that are square but fold in the middle. Perfect for sitting on and they come around a bit too.

I’ve had a lovely treat this morning to celebrate 7 weeks post op. A deluxe pedicure and an eyebrow wax. So relaxing :) It was lovely to be pampered and my feet got the attention I can’t currently give them.
Plus I found a pool that is cheaper so will go try it out in the next few days.
Hope everyone is taking it easy and healing well :)

Gretel, glad all is getting better every day...good for you for some pampering.
I had 100 turkeys coming into the food bank today with little help and a dumb old board meeting and another meeting.
Whipped out tired but all legs and mental not hips.

I was told no swimming until 4 months after scabs are gone. I was hoping swimming would speed recovery

Oooh! Love a fresh pedi.....lucky you!
Hope you enjoy the pool when you go.
Wishing you a great Wednesday @Gretel

My surgeon is happy for me to go to the pool. I’ve been a couple of times now. I’ve always preferred exercising in water :)
That was my first pedi. Won’t be the last!
@Mojo333 100 turkeys?! Oh my! Sounds like you had a huge day!

Gretel you are doing so well considering all the ups and downs that you have had with those double trouble hips! Well done you :0)
As you say we're will we be in another 7 weeks time!!
Exciting times ahead! Have a wonderful day

I did some cooking today and my back hasn’t liked it :( It had been so good. Hopefully it will settle soon.

That's no good :0( get a warm pack on it and rest up hopefully it will ease up!
I'm also having trouble with my lower back, I find doing a few stretches and core strengthening exercises are helping it. Hope it feels better asap x

Don't be scared, just try it and do what you can...
Remember the manta...Listen up to your body it will guide you :0)
I had physio today and he asked me to do some different exercises which I wasn't to happy with, when he showed me I said 'no way'
But then tried them and amanaged to do them all without any pain or problems... mind over matter seems to be my problem!! Give it a go slowly and see xx

Well seven weeks! Who would have thought it! Went to my second physio session and she was please with my progress and gave me more core and strengthening exercises. I may also go to the pool and a bit of recumbent cycling...am so excited. she still would like me to use my cane until I no longer have a limp...thanks okay by me...and I want to be a 100%. Doctor say I can drive but only a wee bit at a time, plus I am enjoying being driven around for a while...so I may just take advantage of that...lol...I must say so much has changed, especially me. I am so much happier, not mean and nasty with the pain. I feel free! I no longer am incontinent and having problems with the neuropathy I had in my non surgical foot. Thank you all for being so encouraging and sharing your lives with me...Your Hippy Sister, Lisa

@weezie thats great to hear you’re doing so well :) I’m not driving far. I’m not finding it too bad but not really comfy either. The pool was glorious this morning! I went back to the normal pool rather than the hydrotherapy pool and it was so good. I even dived in and managed the ladder to get out. I walked a bit, did a few exercises, some deep water running (a friend who had hip replacement recommended it) and floated on my back. Bliss! Oh and apparently carrying a cane lets me get in at pensioner rates
