Sorry for being pragmatic Mojo. Comes from being a government worker for too long! Yesterday I hit 30 Year service mark. I can join retired ranks whenever my happy hips want to dance out the door!

I do KNOW intellectually all of the nuances of dealing with my aging father and am totally sympathetic with him and his difficulty dealing with letting go of a charity he has built from ground up.
But my better half and I have been his back up for two plus years and he has no concept that anyone might have plans or a life that doesn't't include the food bank or his agenda.
I want to be respectful but we will have to have a come to Jesus meeting at some point in order for me to stave off getting resentful.
He can't continually overextend himself anymore when it falls back on me and mostly my hubby.
If he will let me Manage things as I AM the manager...I could structure things where I have appropriate help and am not physically overdoing it...to my detriment.
Mostly his memory is getting so bad, he forgets what he has planned or forgets to inform me.
Ah well, it is just venting. I'm more patient to his face....I feel for him.
Glad you can leave the grind behind should you decide.

You are in a tight spot. I am giving a lot of thought to what I want life to be post retirement. It must be tough taking over from your dad. A come to Jesus is in order-mainly because you want to see his work grow. Maybe a specialized part time special role for him?
 
Like communism...good in theory.
He's kind of an all or nothing guy.
He will certainly continue to be involved as we don't even have a replacement for his personal truck and trailer needed for pick ups.
Thing is, he isn't "driving well" and I've been soliciting volunteers willing to do some of this through talks to civic clubs and churches.
It will settle out, but right now I feel like someone used my thighs for punching bags because of the great chicken debacle the other night and after the last few months of doing so well...do not want to see my recovery derailed.
I'm kind of liking the not hurting side of things.
Shows you can still overdo at 7 months out. Things still healing for sure.
 
To brighter days...
Hang in there, dear Mojo, things will look up.

@Mojo333 It sounds like you have had quite a hectic week. I do hope your dad settles into his new title of Gentleman of Leisure. I’m sure you can find something for him to do to ease the transition. It’s that breaking years of routine that I imagine will be the hardest. My dad was a nightmare for the first year till he found other things to occupy his time, and he couldn’t wait to retire.

It’s a great thing your dad has done, and that you are carrying on, and even more special at this time of year.

You take care of yourself and don’t go overdoing it.
 
@Alfie888 Thanks for the sympathy and encouragement...yeah...it was on if those weeks. I'm trying to get patient honestly...few days away from each other is the most helpful.
Too late, I hit the ODIC Thursday and my thighs and SI joint are giving me fits.
Balancing for 2 hours on a 3 inch wide trailer unloading pallets full of chicken by hand...not good.
Resting this weekend.

Yes...much needed. Probably should have did more resting...but it was fun to walk in country...
Feel badly for so many here with more serious issues or surgeries less successful.
I am truly blessed.
We do have to take care of ourselves after the work has been done.
Hope you are ready to have a peaceful Sunday.
 
So I have shoes...tennis shoes.
Now for new all weather boots.
It only took me 6 months to get.

Well what matters is you met your goal. Just extend the timeline if it is a goal worth having! Tennis shoes are good. A nice all weather boot that laces should be a snap. Oh-and I am a bit of a shopper!

Yes ma'am. Should be...with a super moon coming up over the pines and sweet burning oak in the breeze...it really is a beautiful world. Never let me take its beauty for granted.
Pain can obscure our perception no doubt.
