Bilateral THR Grateful Double Hippy

Got it. 6 months out and getting careless.
@Josephine , I do have some soreness in my thighs but only when I rub on them firmly. Think that is just getting well stuff as it used to be seriously numb, and that has thoroughly disappeared.

Taking 30 and 40 pound boxes off vehicles and the twisting motion involved in getting where it needs to be may be responsible?
Gee - not many!

When I get issues like that, I see a chiropractor. I think you've seen me talk about him before, yes?

I have contemplated seeing one...not sure what to look for...will confer with OS....as I had such bad posture and limp before surgery I wondered about alignment issues. They did such extensive imaging on back prior to hip surgery (X-ray, MRI, bone scan) and saw no disc issues so...a chiropractor it is. Thanks @Josephine.

Do you suppose it could just be all that lifting and maneuvering causing the pain/soreness?? Just a thought!!

That's what I'm hoping.

Dirty Mojo..after country outing ...not up to bathing.

He actually is...an old cutie. 14 years old last week.
He is getting a little pushy and set in his ways.
He thinks he's the boss of me!
He's been a real comfort through my recovery....and a pain in my rear-end at times....:heehee:

[Bonesmart.org] Grateful Double Hippy Our eldest is 13 today :) The youngest, Bunny, has been my constant companion during recovery. She’s spent many hours on the recliner with me and often walks beside me around the backyard.

Oh my stars...if she's not a doll baby.
They DO know when mommy isn't right.

That’s Bunny :) She’ll be two next month.

Wait til My Aussie Girl sees her. She will love love.
What a face:)

Hi@Mojo... I popped over to your thread. Has your back pain eased any? My pain predates the hips... started with severe coccyx pain and spread upwards and down the leg. It eased a bit between hip ops but similar to what you've mentioned my gait was really poor plus the new position of my hips (bone graft) seems to gave thrown me off. I'm hoping loosing some weight (story of my life) and exercise will help me.
You sound quite active so perhaps slowing down a little and not lifting so much will help... fingers crossed!

@NoraJ...It did but not entirely. Yep, that tail bone and exact description. I have done little to nothing for the last few days. Eased some but as I explained to Jo, sleeping and/or sleeping is when it bothers me most. ??? Pressure on it, I don't know.
Have OS appt next Tuesday, really want X-ray's done, and want to ask about chiropractor. Scares me to have someone cracking on anything.

I tried a chiropractor (abd physio)prior to my first hip and she advised me to go to an OS ( and she referred me to my OS who I really like). It reassured me that if she couldn't treat me or improve my condition she wasn't going to try.

For peace if mind it's no harm in discussing it with your OS and then seeing what your options are. I remember the pain when sitting/driving before my first hip was truly awful. Trying to manage it in work was difficult. I didn't have it lying down as I normally lie on my side. I hope it's just something short term. Any bit of a new sort of pain freaks me out a little. I can't face the thought of ongoing pain despite knowing I'm far luckier than some with chronic health conditions.

Same. Things are so much better hipwise there's no doubt I'm doing tremendously better. At 6 months out, I'm feel infinitely better. Just if something needs adjustment, would rather be working on it now before it causes a more chronic problem.
As Irish Joe once said, 90% better than what I was can be good enough.
Just need to realise I AM really in my 50s, and can't be as hard on my body as I have the first half of the century.
I DID lose 20 lbs the year before my surgery and feel like it has helped with pressure on back and hips...and definitely worth it for recovery. No way for exercise pre-op, literally just portion control...and choices. I'm a bread girl...carbs all the way. Not a Dieter. Just try not to eat alot later in the day. Gained about 5 back since but will try to be mindful.

I will be very interested in what OS had to say...
Hope you have a restful evening.
Thanks for lending an ear.

@Mojo333
I hope your OS has some answers for your discomfort. Sounds like maybe you joined the ODIC ( Overdid it Club). I know, been there - done that, paid for it for days and even today. But, how do we know if we overdid it until later after its been done? I'm sure just as with everything, everyone is different. I think of You often and sorry to hear you are having issues as you are always there for us with such encouraging words. Looking forward to hear what OS says next week. I realize it seems so far off when we need to try and find answers now.
Hugs for you.

I have completely left off of any lifting...and already am feeling back pain ease, with the exception of certain positions I get myself into during sleep.
Cautionary tale, can do too much even at 6 months out.
Hoping to get good progress report next week and looking forward to the holidays. We give out lots of turkey dinner bags at Food Bank so we will stay super busy.
Hope all is well worth all my BS buddies.

Hi @mojo, Has the pain continued to ease once you've avoided lifting?

Actually. Much much better. Tried to do no twisting . When I stand on one foot...on my right side which is more where I feel it, it feels like there's pressure up against my sacrum...and tailbone. Not when I do it on the left side. Not sure if I'm describing clearly but when all my weight is on that side, something feels not as strong and maybe pressing on something.
Definitely feel like I was aggravating it with the heavier lifting stuff.
Has seriously diminished unless I get positioned wrong during the night.
How have you been feeling?
Still have questions for the OS.
