Thank you Judy! And thank you too Aretha! I totally understand your passion for painting. I am a watercolorist and I love painting plein aire. Hopefully the sun will be out soon and you can paint your garden.

Check out broken link removed: https://www.huntingartprize.com The hosting oil company, Hunting PLC, is from the UK and this was the 32nd annual Hunting Art Prize. Houston, TX is a huge oil city and began hosting this event about 7 years ago. It sounds like I am doing a lot, but the truth is, I spend most of the day taking it easy and moving carefully so that I don't hamper my recovery. I'm taking my walks, working with my trainer and aqua aerobics. So I am doing better and I'm happy about that, but I realize that I still have a ways to go:)

Hi Dori

Sounds like a lovely and relaxing way to spend an evening. Isn't it wonderful that we can participate in these social events again without the pain and discomfort we had before surgery. Every single day I wake up and appreciate this whole deal we have gone through and thank my surgeon - he is my hero!!

Have a good week Dori :thumb:

Hi Jo,

Yes, I'm very encouraged by the results of my surgery so far. As my knee continues to heal, I am feeling stronger and stronger. My new knee is now my "good" knee for sure. My still-arthritic knee is beginning to rely on it to pick up some of the slack:)

How was France? Where were you and did you have a lovely time?

Hi Dori

I had a great time and my knee was so well behaved - we walked and walked!! I was even able to walk around cobbled streets enjoying all the beautiful architecture - I haven't been able to do that for quite a few years. I used to hobble about not really enjoying the experience. We took the ferry to Brittany and stayed in Roscoff. I put a post on my thread about my trip as I was encouraged about how good I felt going away for my first trip away from my comfort zone. It sure was interesting being on a ferry with the sea being very lumpy and having to walk with my new knee - tested out my balance :th_heehee:

This is what "getting your life back" looks like! I love the part where you say, "We walked and walked!!" and your new knee was so well behaved.
You've got me looking thru my travel magazines again!

Hi Dori
That's the idea - nothing like a good holiday to plan! Everyday I thank my OS for my new lease of life and give myself a pat on the back for being brave and going through with the operation. I think we are in a special club that non knee people would never quite understand (if that makes sense). Happy holiday search!

I am learning to trust my new knee in situations that were very challenging to me prior to my surgery. Yesterday I started working as an optometrist in a new practice that opened which is only 10 minutes from my house. It is PERFECT for me. It's from 10 to 2 and it's a new office so that by the time it gets busy, my knee will be even stronger.

My knee did great. it didn't bother me one bit! I can tell that it isn't completely healed yet so I'm still very careful about what I do, but I am definitely getting there. I'm happy about this new lease on life, too.

What a great post too Dori, its fantastic that you have started back to work, and have a chance to ease into it. The time spent working is great too, not too long to give you any problems, so I really hope you enjoy life to the full, and everything from here on in is a doddle as we say in the UK.

Love Aretha xx :friends:

Congratulations! That is awesome news and an awesome post! Things are really going great for you and will continue to do so.:thumb::thumb:

On a lighter note, there are a few baseball coaches around here that most likely would want you to check my contact lens prescription!:hysterical::hysterical:

One coach wondered about a ball/strike call semi jokingly---I told him that the sun comes up each day, and it is 93,000,000 miles away---and I see that just fine!

Jo

Have you put your icing unit away entirely? Mine is still set up in my bedroom but I have not had to use it for a while. However, I used a small ice pack and elevated a little bit last night because I felt some tightness and perhaps a little sweling from the work I did this weekend.

I am just fine. I got up early, put chemicals in the pool and backwashed it. Then I watered my plants and pruned my roses. I went to the grocery store and now I'm back home and hopefully can stay put and relax for the remainder of this beautiful day.

Hi Dori

I put my ice unit away quite a few weeks ago now. I did use an ice pack one evening (3 weeks ago) but on my shin area. Thankfully everything seems calm now :thumb: I was getting concerned about my shin area but since I have increased my walking it seems to have realised that it's going to be worked and to get used to it!!

Your day sounds full and busy - I hope you are now relaxing by that lovely pool of yours :thumb:

My day has been really busy and now I'm relaxing with a glass of white wine. I did all knee strengthening exercises, rode the bike, back exercises, walked Roxy, 2 hours housework and cooked dinner .... phew!!! I still can't believe what I can now fit into a day and it's not over yet. I have got into the habit of taking Roxy for a walk around 8pm; just because I can!!

It's great having these new knees :thumb: Enjoy the rest your day Dori xxx

Well done to you too Jo, you two have certainly made text book recoveries, and must be so happy that things are so quickly getting back to normal! Your trip to France sounded great, and now you can start to live life as we do painfree and realise what amazing things they can do with our bodies nowadays.

Take care Jo,
xx :friends:

Yes, the days can become quite busy now that we're stronger. I am trying my best not to get caught up in the "rat race" again. This morning I walked in the park and then did about an hour's worth of errands. I have been home since then, working on the computer putting together a fundraiser, cooking lunch, then dinner, folding laundry, lots of stuff to do...but I am sitting and relaxing quite a bit during the day as well, not over-doing it.

Speaking of my pool, it is Crystal Clear and I plan to take a dip in just a few minutes. I am maintaining the pool myself and it's a good workout and I'm doing an amazing job, if I must say so myself! I am planning to turn in early tonight because tomorrow is physical therapy with the trainer and each time we've met, she has become quite a bit more intense...like a little drill seargeant if you know what I mean:dancy:
