Well, Dori, just remember that you're not in her army, she's in yours; and you are the 5 star general!:th_heehee:

I agree with you 100% and thanks for the reminder!!

My energy level today and yesterday has been somewhat low, probably because of my schedule last week and my new part-time job. So if I still feel this way tomorrow, I will go but I will definitely take it easy in the gym with the trainer. Like you said, I'm in charge of this show!:thumb:

Hi Dori

[like a little drill seargeant if you know what I mean:dancy:] That really made me laugh :loll:. I can picture the scene :th_heehee:. I hope it all went well and she wasn't too bossy!

Talking of pools, whenever I have watched anyone cleaning one I have always thought it looks hard work and very therapeutic. So good on you doing that on your own. Very envious here, thinking of you and that pool :wink1:. Think of me here in Devon with the rain falling all day - puddles all in the lanes today on my walk with Roxy!!!

I like my trainer. She really is a gentle spirit but she is making these workouts progressively challenging, which is exactly what i want and need. Today I was feeling lazy. But once I got there, it all went well. We are doing a lot of balancing and stability exercises, strengthening the muscles and ligaments around the knee. We are also doing core and upper body work. So by the time the session is over, I'm pooped.

You are right about the pool being therapeutic. Something about the water. But it isn't hard work, unless the algae builds up and it turns green then you have to scrub a lot. There are several steps to maintaining a pool, but it isn't rocket science, although some of the pool maintainence companies would like to charge you as if it is. So I like the idea of saving lots of money by doing it myself, and getting a great workout to boot.

Today, its sunny and in the low 80's here, perfect for a dip so I'm diving in later:dancy:

Now I am getting jealous Dori :tantrum2: Glad to read your workout was good today :thumb: Enjoy your dip :wink1:

We'll be getting some rain Friday...and when it rains, it often floods here in Houston because it is so flat. So we all get our turn to have fun in the sun.

I am so pleased with how well my knee did in the gym today. One of the exercises she had me doing was stepping up on this platform with one leg(and it was a high step) and then balancing on that one leg with the other leg out in the front. Then stepping down and repeating with the other leg.

We also did more of the sitting down and standing up without using hand on an inclined bench. Only this time she had me doing it with an 8 pound ball...up and down...up and down...I am amazed that I can do this at all.

I can defintely tell the difference between my new knee and my arthritis knee. It will be good to get that fixed but I'll tell you the truth...I am not looking forward to going thru rehab again. How I wish they had done both at the same time. But then again, this was best for me and my lifestyle, being single and living alone and all. So eventually I will do this all over again:rolleyespink:

Hello Everybody,

I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. I had a sweet time with my children and my adorable grandkids. It's been a long day. In fact, it's a busy 2-3 days. I worked Saturday AND Friday and then drove out to my son's house today. So my body is tired and my "bad" knee is achy. My new knee is really impressing me:)

My next ortho appt. is June 19th and it will be intersting to see when the knee replacement for my right knee will be scheduled. I'd like to wait until the end of the year but I am just beginning to enjoy my new knee, but I can tell the vargus is getting worse which is an indication of the deterioration and deformity that's happening as a result of the degenerative osteoarthritis. So I will discuss all of this with my doc and in the interim, continue to enjoy my recovery and try not to overstress my other knee. It's a balancing act.

And one which you seem to be managing admirably Dori.

Lets hope that June 19th brings good news about getting that other knee fixed, and then with 2 good knees you should be much more mobile and living the painfree life that we all strive for.

Glad you had a great Mothers Day, and take care Dori

Thank you Aretha,

It's a conundrum at times. My new knee is getting better and my bad knee is getting worse. I want to continue enjoying my life but I know I am only able to do it half-heartedly to some extent. So a part of me wants to wait and part of me wants to go ahead and get it over. So I am turning the final decision over to The Universe. I trust that things will happen the way they are supposed to and for that the outcome will be in my best interest. I pray for Wisdom.

Yeah, I think when one knee is worse than the other you almost don't notice how bad the "good" knee is. When you get your new knee you realize the "good" one isn't so good after all.

Precisely. When I began physical therapy in the hospital, they told me that my operated knee would eventually become my "good" knee and that is what has happened. So it wll be interesting to see just how long I can tolerate this discomfort. It is not as bad as it was prior to my surgery in January. but to be sure, the arthritis is progressing. But overall, I am doing just fine...so much to be grateful for!

Hi Dori

Kneeper is so right and the old bad knee is definately the new good knee!! How weird and I would not have thought that possible before the surgery. My new knee is so solid and smooth and my old knee feels creaky and grindy! The 19th is not too long to wait and hear the fate of your knee :what: Keep us posted on the outcome.

I know exactly how you feel Dori, I didn't think I had any problems at all with my left knee, but since I had the right one fixed, my leftie has started to winge. I am trying to lose weight, and so far have lost 3 stones and the effect this has had on BOTH knees is great. My TKR is gaining ROM and my leftie is only complaining sometimes, and not all the time like it was.

I hope you get the result you want on the 19th June, and no its not so far away now. Keep us posted xxx:friends:

I will definitely keep you posted about what they say. Turns out, my appt is on the 12th instead of June 19th so that;s even better.

I worked on my weekend job again today and it was very pleasant. After I got home, I rested for an hour or so and then drove into the city to do a little gallery-hopping. I had such a nice time and it's just 8 pm and I am already back home, safe and sound. I plan to take it very easy for the remainder of the weekend...mainly I plan to be a couch potato and read, watch tv, and rest:))

G'morning Everyone,

It's been a while since my last post. Life has been busy, but good. I am continuing to work with my trainer and each week she adds a bit more. I've noticed improvements all around and I'm so pleased with the decision I made to hire a trainer. I think the workouts are also helping my bad knee. I know the knee still needs to be replaced. However, it seems that the musculature and ligaments surrounding the knee itself are getting stronger and somehow that seems to help a lot.

Last night my son had a birthday party. He turns 31 on the 28th so they had a big bash and it was a lot of fun. They had canopies set up on the lawn and it was a wonderful catered event. When the DJ fired up the music, I actually got up and Danced! It felt so wonderful to feel good enough to want to dance again. I'm getting my grrove back! Life is good!

That is great news! That is why you had the TKR done---to enjoy your life and these blessings and not to have to sit and endure them! Awesome Post!:thumb::thumb:
