Dori, just wanting to wish you good luck and hope everything goes OK for the 12th June. I hope if they are going to do something about your other knee that its not a long drawn out process, and I am sure with all the Bonesmarties behind you this recovery will be a piece of cake after your first. At least you can give yourself a talking to when you have bad days, and are more likely to know exactly what to do when it happens. If not, we are all here for you as normal.

Take care Dori xx:friends:

Hi Everybody:)

I went in for my appointment today to see my orthopedic doctor. And believe it or not, YESTERDAY, i sprained my hamstring muscle. I was so disappointed because I really wanted him to see just how well I have been doing and how much improved my ROM is. I almost rescheduled but I didn't/

Much to my surprise, he commented that I was doing excellently! He was doing all kinds of things with my knee and my knee just purred like a kitten:) So I WAS GIVEN A NEW SURGERY DATE!!!

It is tentatively scheduled for the second week in January and my next appt. is October 16th at which time I will get my x-rays. I am very happy about this new turn of events. My left knee is hanging in there but it really is time for some relief

Yes indeed. I am so looking forwards to having 2 good knees. The other day I wa telling someone about my knee replacement and she said, "Oh yeah, that one is still really crooked."

Sigh...

So it will be nice to have 2 straight legs and NO MORE PAIN.

Great news Dori, and you have plenty of time to get the "good" knee now as fit as possible, and look forward to having them both back to being great. With both knees straight and fixed there will be no stopping you girl!! :friends:

Thank you. My hamstring is feeling a lot better today. I was actually gardening earlier. My session with the trainer is scheduled this afternoon and I've informed her about my hamstring. I'm thinking that I should probably cancel altogether, but I did that last week just because I was exhausted:)

I hope you all are having a great day!...or night, depending on where you live:)

Well, I'm back from my session with my trainer and we focused on upper body exercises today. I have found the upper body routines to be particularly helpful as I regain strength in my lower body. For example, rolling over in bed at night. So it was a good session. Now I've poured myself big glass of iced water and I am going to take a nap for a few hours.

Hi Dori

Congrats on getting your other knee scheduled for the op. That comment about the knee .... don't some people make you so mad with their negative comments - some folks have no idea!!

I'm so pleased you are doing so well with your new knee - excellent report on your gym work. My upper body could do with some gym work - you have inspired to get on the case.

Have a good weekend :wink1:

Hi Jo,

People do say the darndest things and they never cease to amaze me. A lady the other night at dinner was telling the story about how she was in a hurry and ended up walking behind this guy who had bad knees and how he slowed her down....then she looked at me embarassed and apologetically. i just shrugged my shoulders and didn't comment.

You may find that you really enjoy gaining more upper body strength, as I have. It certainly comes in handy and I like the feeling of confidence I have as I am getting stronger.

I like you new photo:) I hope you're continuing to enjoy yoru new knee!

Thanks Dori. My new knee is great and I am still so thankful I took the plunge. Good wishes to you xx

Hi Dori
I hope you've worked out that the site has been updated and has a new look!
I hope you continue to do well!

Hi Dori, hope you are continuing to improve on a daily basis and that turning over in bed is now a normal procedure for you. Its great when you can do it without thinking, as is going up and down the stairs too. I am 21 months into my recovery and feeling better all the time. I love my knee now, and if I haveto have the other one done I havge no doubt that it will be fine with all the support and infro from the other Bonemsarty family members. Take care xxx

Hello Everybody,
Sincere apologies for not checking in recently. I honestly do not know how to navigate my way around this new site. I just get lucky sometimes and I'm "in". Before, I was always logged on, so it was easy for me. I wish I could remember what I am doing to get "on", but I don't. So most of the time, I've been to busy to keep clicking about trying to figure it out. So eventually, I'll get the knack of it.
I just wanted to check in and say hi, see how everybody is doing, and offer whatever support I can. I have been doing well. I've been putting in long hours on my new knee and she is hanging in there just fine. I've been gardening up a storm because my yard became so overgrown when I was in too much pain to work the flowebeds. I also had my house painted inside and out and it looks so cheery and pretty now. And I bought a Keystone Outback RV to place on my lots on the peninsula so that I can spend more time living at the beach and basically being the beach bum that I am at heart!
Most of the time my left knee is unhappy with all the activity I am requiring of it, but I just utter an apology and keep going. We can rest when we get on the other side again!:egypdance:

I'm glad your right knee is allowing you to get all that work done. You have certainly been a busy bee, so it's no wonder we haven't heard much from you. A new RV! wow! well it's certainly the right time of year to hang out at the beach. Take care, don't be a stranger--post once in a while to keep up updated, we care.

i care about you guys, too. You've all been a lifeline to me. I bought those lots on the beach last year and was going to build a beach house. But eventually this peninsula will be the target of another "Hurricane Ike" and if that happens, I just want to be able to hitch up and move out. I am going to try to attach a link to a video of my new RV. It is so cool. Here's the link. See if you can click on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDIhTsZ2WQw

WOW! again, Dori. That RV is awesome---I'm just green with envy :heehee:.

I am so excited! It's very comfortable and have all the amenities I need to be comfortable while on the beach. I'll be Glamping rather than camping. With my new knee and arthritis, I really can't be hitching and hauling all over the place so once I get it in place, I will just leave it there and that will be home. I live about 50 miles away in Houston so The Beach Is Within Reach!
Since having my TKR in January, something has changed within me. I want to live my life to the fullest. No more postponing my dream until....whenever. Now is the time! :egypdance:

Hi Dori
Nice RV! I hope you spend many happy hours at the beach and your bad knee settles down. I'm with you - live life to the full now.

Thanks Diney,

I have always enjoyed the beach. Most of my vacations have been to places where there are beautiful beaches. So finally seeing this dream come true is a real blessing. I look forward to long walks on the beach and fishing! I don't know if you've ever heard of Rollover Pass but it is one of the hottest fishing spots in the US and it is only 20 minutes from where my lots are. So I've already got my fishing poles packed.
Things are going so well right now. I have a small amount of "worry" about loosing the momentum I've gained when I have to go thru another recovery. But I know now it will only be 4 -5 months after the surgery before I am feeling good again. So I don't allow myself to worry about it too much. I am staying in this moment and be grateful that I can pursue my life to the extent that I am now, and looking forward to being completely painfree very soon.
