I'm improving, a good thing. I believe it was caused by the PT forcing my knee. I'm going to report her. I was bending to 90 without pain before PT, now can get nowhere near that. I guess it's a couple of days setback at least. I'm not pleased.

You'll get back there again. Lots of ice and elevation will help you. I agree that you should speak up about the PT that injured you.

PT was painful but I did steps, NuStep, heel slides, etc.
stupidly let PT person push my leg too far. I think that's what caused all my pain last night..

I'm sorry you had pain from PT. I know it isn't easy to say NO when you're half drugged, but do remember it from now on. Don't let anyone push your knee. Don't do any exercises if they hurt. Right now, exercise is the last thing your newest knee needs - especially not painful exercises, - and it was far too early for the Nu-step.

Here's the recovery reading list again, as a reminder:
First are the BoneSmart mantras ....
- rest, elevate, ice and take your pain meds by the clock
- if it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physiotherapist (PT) - to do it to you. exercise only gently
- if your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again
- if you won't die if it's not done, don't do it
- never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down, never stay awake when you can go to sleep!
- be active as much as you need to be but not more than is necessary, meaning so much that you end up being in pain, exhausted or desperate to sit down or lie down!

The PT person really surprised me. No one did that to me the last time and I wasn't expecting it. I sobbed from the pain and she had the nerve to tell the other PT person that I was emotional!

Hang in there. Saying prayers for a restful night for you.

People do not realize that the PT's actually work for you. It is difficult to say "no" when you are a bit drugged up, but you may want to discuss this in the future and set up some parameters as to what you will do and what is acceptable---and what is not.

I agree---it was waaaaay too early for the Nu-Step, and you should never hurt or be in pain or during PT---take everything to the point of discomfort only.

As others will tell you, it is not about the "no pain, no gain" approach---but it is, rather, "no pain, more gain" that will help you out---it seems like the PT instituted a "surprise attack" on you. Let them know that you will not allow this activity again.

I remember when a PT did that to me during my first week home. I yelled very loudly. He had the nerve to ask me why I yelled!!!! I emphatically told him BECAUSE IT HURT. That was the last time that he tried to touch me. PTs can be wonderful and awful. I agree that you have to set the limits.

Hoping you have a pain free day of rest, ice and elevation!

Ugh they really shouldn't push so much! Hope you feel better today/ get lots of rest!

You guys know that I did know better than to allow rough treatment like that. I was too doped up I guess. I could put very little weight on it after and almost requested crutches. Today it's improving and I'm putting weight on it now. ROM just about disappeared though. Nurse will be here soon and I must get ready for her.

Remember it's too early to worry about ROM. It'll come later. Just rest, ice, elevate and take those meds.

Don't be hard on yourself about letting the PT push-- you were in the depths of brain fog. Rest. You'll be home soon and in charge of your own recovery again. Saying prayers for you right now.

And yet another story of PT accomplishing the exact opposite of what it is supposed to. I knew after thar 2nd time, where even tho I set ground rules, that she respected, she asked if she could do that deep tissue massage, and I let her, took me 4 days to recover from the swelling it brought. That's when I "unofficially" broke up with PT.

I'M glad you are doing better. Keep those pt goons away from your baby knee

Keep feeling better

Good morning Flagranny, how are you today? You are approaching a week since your surgery, I hope your pain is under control and that your other new knee is handling the new arrangement ok. I am soon to follow in your footsteps and am envious of your being on the other side with both new knees

ThinkIng of you today and sending happy thoughts your way!

So sorry you had to endure"shaming" from that PT, for expressing feelings. Hope you are feeling better now. Your ROM will get there when it gets there. If you need to cry, then cry.

Thank you all for your good wishes. Although I am behind where I was for the first knee I am improving
Just resting, icing, and getting up occasionally. The left knee is holding up very well. It's taking the extra load without any complaining even though it still is a bit stiff and sore

My incision is clean and dry and looks like it will be nearly invisible. Swelling between mild and moderate just like before.

I cannot say for sure if the PT caused me the extra pain or if it is just a more painful surgery than before

Today is a better day than yesterday.

I'm so glad today is better than yesterday. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm glad you are feeling more comfortable. This knee is on its own recovery journey, so don't expect it to do things exactly the same as your first knee did. Just keep on listening to the knee and doing what keeps it happy.
