THR Early Birthday

I was so thrilled to go to the cane. I had used it for a couple of years so it was very comfortable and familiar to me. The walker seemed just an odd extension of my arms. I also found my posture and gait were extremely odd.

So, 6 years ago with the first THR, I was told to ‘walk, walk, walk’. I didn’t have a walker and only used the cane for trips outside during the first couple days. This time is different with the 50% weight bearing. The walker was not optional. I suppose I could go with crutches but I can maneuver with the cane pretty well and keep the weight off enough.

Like you’ve learned, ice ice baby!

Doing well with the cane...always good to know that you can do it!!
My PT chap was very pleased when he saw me with one cane... but insisted I used two if I limp & for outside use... Sushi sounds fab.. love it!!

I can't imagine why the PT would frown upon the cane. You're far enough along it seems.
Remember heel-toe walking if you're sporting a limp.
Sorry if I've mentioned it before. Some of these threads are too long to make sure I'm not repeating myself,
or I'm just feeling lazy about it today
Happy Monday!

So liberating to get rid of that clunky walker.
I despised that thing. It made me feel old, decrepit and crabby :gaah: :tantrum:

Especially on stairs. The walker doesn't help, it's just a bulky stupid awkward aluminum albatross.

A cane, on the other hand, is a fashion accessory. Before surgery, I noticed that people were nicer to me when I used the cane as opposed to just limping. Weird.

I think the walker must be an American thing as it isn't something we use other than for a couple of days post op. We are given crutches to leave hospital with. We can borrow them for as long as it necessary. I am managing to cruise the counter tops and just use one crutch but generally speaking I tend to use two.

Ok, @59billy and @inthebeginning you both calm down over there, getting a little froggy today! Don't want anyone hurting themselves and having to start over.
:froggies:
Hey sister! This ain’t my first rodeo :horseriding:
I’ll lay low until I see my doc in a week and see what he has to say. Then I’ll book my ticket :)
