THR Early Birthday

Sorry to read about the osteoporosis, @59billy
Hopefully through some lifestyle changes you'll be able to avoid the medication route.
Another thing to consider avoiding is soda pop / carbonated beverages. Supposedly the phosphates cause calcium loss. I think many drink carbonated waters such as La Croix etc thinking it better than soda pop. While you're losing the sugar you're not losing the carbonation.

Not sure if you use acid blockers but I've read they should be avoided also. In addition, consider having your Vitamin D levels checked annually, if you're not already, as so many are deficient without even realizing. Exercise is great also, as you know and I'm sure you'll be engaging little by little as you continue healing.

I hope you have a great week. Two weeks post op already tomorrow! :happydance:

PT was actually good. I feel like my questions and concerns were addressed, and it's not overly aggressive. If anything, the plan is slower than I'd been expecting, but more methodical than if I was left to my own lazy devices.

Getting in and out of the car was surprisingly easy. It's almost like I've been healing or something!

Good to hear!
Don't want any setbacks for you and sweetie will certainly be relieved you are taking things slow and steady.
Layla has a great suggestion for measuring progress from weekend to weekend as opposed to daily.
It may seem slow, but our bodies truly are amazing in their capacity to heal.
Hope today is a Good Day!

Even before the surgery, I realized that long term outcomes are the point. It's not about ditching the walker at week two versus week four. It's about being whole at week 52. And week 520
Well said.:ok:
I'm So going to re-quote this a zillion times.
It was my philosophy too and has served me well.
Listen up, new hippys!

I have a lot of reading to do to catch up with you but it sounds like you're doing good for 2 weeks ---- Happy Anniversary :yay:! Slow and steady, you'll get there! :good-bad:

Oh well said @59billy
Long term recovery is the aim not a quick fix...we do live & learn. My first recovery I went at walking like a ninja in the first few weeks.. never sat when I could walk... nobody told me.. until I found Bonesmart.. but it certainly made my recovery slower in the long term...

Enjoyed PT today. Nice to get cleaned up and go anywhere! The exercise starts with going down the stairs then getting in the truck.

They pointed me at a recumbent bike first thing. My initial reaction was "I don't think so, Tim", but it actually made my hip feel good. Nothing was terribly strenuous, and I ended up less sore that I would have just sitting.

:wave:How is it going, Billy?
Hope your hip is taking to the new activity and that you aren't inclined to ramp things up quite yet.
This is the super boring part :bored:
Hope today is a Good Day!

I'm surprisingly okay with the boredom. I feel pretty patient and happy with slow incremental progress. I don't know if this is a sign of personal growth or a side effect of Percocet.

It's good to hear you liked PT and felt okay afterward.
You sound content and that's a good thing. Your patience will pay off.
I think a great Summer is on tap for you, billy.
Happy Thursday!
