THR Double hippy happy<

Double Hippy Happy, maybe!

What did the surgeon say about that hip? Bigger incision? About the same?

Smaller incision, hip was a mess, bone on bone. When I can sit at my pc I'll post a pic of it in the badges of honour thread. Thigh hurts like mad but that's to be expected after what he did to it....
I think there's about 18 staples holding it together...ouch!!

Good it's gone then!
I remember my poor quads feeling like someone strung me up and used my thighs for punching bags.

Quit looking at it..you know that's how the kids do it..it hurts worse when you look at it:sorry:
First time I saw my incisions it started hurting worse ...:loll:

Welcome back, Sarah. We missed you!
So happy to read you're home. It sounds like you're doing really well.
Wondering if it feels less stressful than the first because you know the drill?
One would think so.
Wishing you have a nice day as you begin your first full week of recovery.
Hugs :friends:

Double hippy happy is a great thread title :)
Only looked once to take pic of it. Quads are killing me, ice is definitely my best friend at the moment.

Thanks Layla, missed you lot too.
I surprised the nurses more than once. Kept asking if I needed help with this or that, once they realised I'd done it before, they left me to it.
Only thing majorly different is a clunking sensation when walking but that should go as muscles tighten up again. Leg feels like lead, hard to move it so I'm sitting on my recliner with feet up and ice pack on.

I'd forgotten how much it hurts standing up and walking in the first few days after surgery. This is so different to the last one where I had to be more or less carried into the house. Only 4 days out so this is where I dig into my patience reserves and soldier on. It will get easier as the days go by. The itching is driving me crazy....5 weeks with these horrible socks on....
Physio is not going to happen, I did the bare minimum at hospital to make them happy enough to let me go home.

Sleeping is not a problem, meds make me tired so within an hour of having them, I'm napping.

Hope everyone is healing well..

So you're dealing with good old Log Leg. Hopefully it eases soon. It is a strange sensation.
Are you itching from the socks (just your legs) or is it more widespread? Those socks are miserable.
I just noticed you're only 6 days away from your One Year Anniversary for your right hip. Congrats!
Also just noticed you'e only a month behind me with my right.
It's great you're sleeping well, that sure helps. I hope tonight is a peaceful one for you, Sarah.
@SarahUK

Legs and around the wound but that's off the adhesive on the dressing. Log leg is a pain in the rear.
A year already, time sure flies hehe
Last night was great, no interruptions until my bladder woke me early.
Thanks Layla :) Just hope I have no problems with this one...

For the short time I wore my lovely TEDS , I rubbed a tad of cornstarch baby powder on my legs too get them on a bit easier and it might help with the itching?
I think your thread title will invoke superior mojo :ok:on this recovery...provided you behave and stay patient and there is no family crises that need handling...mamas never get a break.:umm:
The log leg feeling will surely dissipate, hopefully sooner than later.
Healing hugs:ice:

It'll go when it's ready to.
My lads are doing everything and doing it well. I'm being extra cautious as this one has no locking ring and dislocation is my biggest fear right now.
I'm definitely going to be patient and behave mojo, want this to go smoothly.

Sleep is calling so I shall wish you all goodnight or morning/afternoon

Stay strong, we can do this all you healing hipsters!!

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well :)

Was up early yet again after another full nights sleep.
Hip feels really stiff as does my knee, swelling seems to be going down slightly. Phoning the doc later for some stronger painkillers. Walking is still painful due to the stiffness and swelling.

The itching has subsided for now.
Other than that, all is well..

Have a great day all!!

Good Morning:mcoffee: for me.

Please do get the doctor to help you get your pain managed!
I know you know this is all temporary...but doesn't really help when you are hurting.

Really jealous that you can sleep all night this early out.
That's a positive!
Sending healing hugs:hugzz:

Agree about the sleep. You're lucky. There are a lot of sleepless members early on.
I recall that movement toward the knee. Swelling and bruising all of a sudden showing.
Hopefully you'll get your meds adjusted today. Hate to think of you in pain, Sarah.
Great news on the itching. Hope you find some pain relief soon.
@SarahUK

Just posted a pic of my lovely new battle wound. I managed to sit at my pc long enough to do that :D
Looks a bit like a number 7 or an L if i look at it hehe

Waiting on doc to phone back to talk pain meds....

:heehee:It's a check mark.
Left hip...Check!
Looks clean and healthy and...um...painful!:umm:
I remember....:friends:

Them staples are going to hurt coming out....
That was on Sunday before they let me go home.
I think it's rather neat and tidy to be honest.

Been given naproxen to take. Had it before with no ill effects.

Can you check out my new post on my thread? Just for information...
