THR Double hippy happy<

Hey all,
Had a great weekend away, the hike went well, left hip grumbled constantly. Just taken delivery of a total body workout machine, got it for my eldest but I'll be using the bike part :)

Things are starting to happen in regards to the left, I got my pre-op appointment in the post today :) I know what to expect having done it all before, walk in the park!

Hope everyone is doing ok :)

Great post @SarahUK
Sounds like you're doing well. Yay for the new exercise equipment!
Sorry your other hip is acting up. I'll probably need my other done at some point also.
I hope it will be less anxiety producing having been through it once already.
But I'm sure I'll find a way to get myself into a twist.:heehee: You sound pretty relaxed about it all which is wonderful!
Hope your weekend is good!

After years of living with it, I hardly notice it unless I really push myself hard.
The way I see it, there's no point getting worked up about it, it's going to happen so may as well roll with it.
Knowing that I've got a good support team behind me helps as well.

Have a great weekend Layla :)

:wave:you know I'm going to say, take it a little easier! I worry for you. But despite that, glad you sound content and happy.
Come on down to the double hippy club.
There's an extra spring in your step and a great life out there waiting for us.
Hope your day is SWEET!

Thanks Mojo :) Not promising anything but I can try to take it easy. Had so much going on the last few weeks, slowing down has been at the back of my mind.

T-10 days for pre-op appointment and then it's a waiting game for surgery date. Won't need to get anything in as I kept all the equipment from the last one :) The only difference is in-home PT, which, if I'm lucky and get the physio I saw previously, he wont push me to do anything I'm not happy doing and he knows when to stop. I'm more than ready to say goodbye to this battered hip, I don't see it as losing a part of me, I see it as an upgrade to an existing framework :D

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

I like your thinking @SarahUK
Can't say I'd be any more enthusiastic next time but probably a smidge less fearful.
Possibly in our lifetime we'll laugh at this process and tell stories of....Back in the day, when I had my THR....
Hope your weekend is good!

I don't see it as losing a part of me, I see it as an upgrade to an existing framework :D
. :yes!:
I am so borrowing that description..
Have a good day and hope you get a date soon.

Hehehe, feel free to use it Mojo, that is honestly how I see it.
After years of looking at things and only seeing negativity, I've realised that being positive about stuff helps a lot more and I feel better for it. Yes, I have the odd down day but nowhere near as many as I used to.
Being positive is what helped me get through this recovery even after all I went through.
There's light at the end of every tunnel, you just have to find it....

Have a great weekend all!!

High Five Sista!
Inspiring mindset :ok:
Admirable.....Hope your weekend is great, Sarah
@SarahUK

:wave:Hi @SarahUK . Almost at 9 month mark, right?
Guessing you are getting on well and back to the good life!
Just wanted to know all is still well with you.

Hi Sarah,
Hope all is well over the past couple weeks.
We're finally getting a taste of Spring here. Highs hovering around 60F with traces of snow still on the ground. It's a start.....I'll take it! :happydance:What about you....what's the weather like this time of year where you live?
Hope your new hip is serving you well and your other isn't giving you too much grief.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
@SarahUK

Layla and Mojo, life is good at the moment. Spring is definitely here, still have some rain but had a couple of days of sunshine.
New hip is doing great, wish I could say the same for the left, it's driving me mad. The only niggle with the new hip is a tendon catching at the front, not painful but annoying, I can live with that unless it does get painful and then I'll be getting it looked at.
Pre-op went great, was in and out pretty quickly as I knew what to expect. Now it's time to play the waiting game for a date ....
Had an emergency dash to the doctors a week ago with my youngest, came off his bike and tore a hole in his arm that required a couple of stitches, along with a huge bruise on his knee, a graze on his ankle and a graze on his hip :(

Have a great week all, here's hoping for more sunshine!!

Glad new hip is well...will be looking for your date for acquiring double hippy status.
Oweee for your poor son's arm...
I had to be taken for more stitches than my brother and sister combined.
My poor mother!
Hope you have a great week.

As it stands, sometime after 20th July hopefully. I've timed it to coincide with the start of the summer holidays here. Means I have my army of lads to look after me again.
I'd post a pic but it's not pleasant lol.

Have a great week.

What a "pirate" scar he will have!
My little brother cut his leg badly when he was swinging a bag of trash with a shard of broken glass in it when he was ten. He tells his children it was almost bitten off by a shark, or he happened during the war. (What war?)
You have a great week also.

Hi @SarahUK
Oh poor baby! It's the worst watching our kids suffer.

Spring has sprung here too....finally. We still have traces of snow on the ground but it will
soon be history. July 20th will be here before you know it and you'll be on to your new life without hip pain.
Do kids go to school until mid July in the U.K.? In the US the kids are pretty much off school June, July and August.

About this tendon catching...would you consider asking Josephine about that? Just hate to see it go on if there are some type of stretches, or something, you could be doing to eliminate it. It sounds like a minor annoyance. I'd want re-assurance that if left alone, it doesn't develop into something more painful.
With that said....I can be a worrier with an overactive imagination. You're probably way more chill living with five males in the house. Just an option to consider....

Hope your week is great!

He's a tough little devil that's for sure. He handled the 2 surgeries he had really well for a lad his age.
2 of mine finish school on the 20th July for summer holidays, don't go back til beginning of september.

In regards to the tendon catching, it's a minor annoyance. Yes, I'd consider asking Josephine about it. If it stays the same then I can live with it, it's a fair trade off for the pain I was in before surgery. Living in a house full of men is challenging in it's own right but I manage well. I tend not to worry too much about the little things that happen and I just go with the flow.

Have a great week!!

Hope the rest of your week is uneventful...

I overdid it, lower back and left hip have done nothing but complain.
Youngest had his stitches out, one was tricky as it got stuck under the scab that formed, poor lad.
Other than that, pretty uneventful.

Have a great weekend all!!
