THR Double hippy happy<

Thanks for sharing good news @SarahUK. Glad mri results normal and that nasty bruise is finally gone.

Sounds like they are planning for second hip well. Once you get through the worst of recovery, I think you will like joining the double hippy club. Being in the best shape you can be will help. And yes, start out with gentle. I found my replaced hip was ready to do more stuff than my bad one wanted me too, so don’t be surprised if it holds you back a bit.

My bad hip lets me know when it's had enough. I often tend to ignore it as it's been constant for many years and I've grown used to it. If I do overdo things, it complains very loudly and painfully.

If I can do it once, even with the double dislocations, I can do it again hopefully with none this time round.
I already know that the left hip will be uncemented and no locking ring, took me a few hours to get my head round that but I'm happy with what he has planned.

I'm still having trouble lying on the right side but that will come when it's ready to so I'm not going to force it.
Walking unaided came when it was ready, everything else will fall into place naturally.
I'm walking better and straighter and feel better for it.

Yes I do have a healthy attitude towards it, my other half asked me if I was scared or nervous. I said no, not yet, excited to be pain free in a few months, nerves will hit the day before as they did with the right. No point being scared or nervous when I have no solid date yet.

Have a good weekend all :)

Keep up the good attitude @SarahUK. You are right, all of the stuff falls into place. A week ago I tried lying on right side and no way. A couple of nights ago I got into bed and naturally went there and after a couple of minutes it hit me what I was doing. My body does better sometimes when I keep my mind out of it.

Sorry about that hip pain. Remember it well.
Just as you.. I'm sure I'll need the other replaced somewhere in the future. Not in any hurry, lol!
Your attitude is great, we should all be as lucky.
Hugs to you!
@SarahUK

Getting those hips fixed almost one year apart...I hope it gives you a little reprieve until then.
I will soon be having my one year hipversary.
Can't believe how different things are from this time last year.
Glad that foot is finally trying to behave.
I HAVE to get some shoes, as my Achilles/instep something has acted up over past week.
Hip related? Who knows...
Have a great weekend!

Being negative does nothing to help with recovery or healing. I learned that lesson a long time ago. Staying focused on what's positive helps immensely.
The hardest part for me was patience, I'm naturally very active and having to slow down was not normal for me.

The hip pain has eased somewhat today, still there but not as bad. That will soon be a distant memory.
I may go and hunt out my walking boots and have a gentle stroll down by the river later on.

Hugs to all of you :)

@Mojo333 my foot has behaved brilliantly, no pain, no bruise, full flexion in ankle, residual swelling has finally left the building :)
I'm walking with no limp and gradually increasing distance day by day.
Weather might not be the best but it feels so good to get out and walk everywhere. I'm almost back to my normal pace and stride, a few weeks and I'll be there.

Have a great weekend :)

:egypdance:great to hear.
A stroll by the river sounds splendid.

Best advice of all...wish I would have said it:friends:

Well my stroll by the river turned out well even if it was a bit on the muddy side. Best walk I've done in a long time, only the left hip giving me warning that I was pushing it a bit. Right hip has never felt so stable even with 50 steep steps to climb. No pain in the right at all. Left has calmed down a bit now but I'm so used to it that I never really pay it much attention lol
Weather permitting, I may do it again tomorrow and the day after that......I'm not going to let the left stop me doing what I enjoy as long as I pay attention to it and listen.

Stopping by to say Hi! @SarahUK
I hope all is well. The walk along the river sounds nice. Hope you get more in.
Any big plans for the weekend....do you celebrate St Paddy's Day there?
Parades, Corned Beef and Cabbage, wearing of the green and all of it here. I'm beyond those days though.
Hope you're doing well and have a wonderful weekend!

Muddy outside is better than no outside!
No falling down and going boom!
Glad to see you talking some of the benefits of all this hard recovery work.
Hope you have a super sweet weekend!

I spent 7 years in Ireland, ironically we moved there on Paddy's day.
Would have been out if not for snow :(

Yeah, mud is ok if it means I get to go walking, snow, no thanks :)
To think, I've got all this ahead of me again. By the time I'm done I'll be planning my next big walk possibly with some climbing thrown in for good measure.
My stride and pace has returned to normal, after months of going slow it feels good to be walking at my normal fast clip.

Have a good day all!

:egypdance:you certainly deserve some normal.
Hope today is a Good Day

I got my CT results through the post this morning.

Osteoarthritis of the left hip with joint space narrowing and subchondral changes in the articular surfaces. Minor flattening of the femoral head.

Has to be the shortest CT result I've ever seen.

Off the report he sent my doc - The CT scan shows, as expected, she has a deficient anterior wall but she has sufficient bone medially that a socket can be inserted without too much of a problem. I have told her, however, that she doesn't have the usual anatomy and that we will be changing part of her anatomy.

All in all, good news :)

Hope everyone has a good week :)

Oh my stars...unless it's not you!
You have this girl but had to be weird reading that:umm:

It was definitely weird reading that. He's reluctant to use a restraining ring on the left but he will if he has to.
I had a chuckle when he wrote that I can do the splits halfway, I used to be able to do them standing up. My flexibility is coming back albeit slowly.

The sun is shining, it's gonna be a nice day for a walk I think.

Have a good day all! :)

Hope your day is sweet:SUNsmile:

Hey all

The last week has been hectic, had 2 birthdays in quick succession and now getting ready to go away on Friday.
Hips have let me know when I'm overdoing stuff, spent an hour last night with ice on both hips :(
May have pulled a muscle on op side, top of thigh hurts as does down the side.

Tried lying on op side a few nights ago and no-no, felt like I was trying to lie on a rock. It will come eventually, I just need be patient (patience running out fast :D ).

Hope everyone is healing well, have a good week all :)

Nice to hear from you, Sara.
A pulled muscle....that's too bad. Hopefully it eases soon.
Wishing you a fun get-away this coming weekend!
@SarahUK

My daily walks haven't stopped because of a pulled muscle. I work through it and ice like mad when back home :)
Really looking forward to a 5 mile hike at the weekend, well my left hip isn't but tough, I'm doing it. As long as i rest up well and ice, all will be well :D

Apart from walking, I need to work on building up the muscle in my behind again, I don't like looking lop-sided hehe.

Have a great week and weekend all!!
