THR Dog Lovers Recovery

Three weeks today
Today was a good day. Actually was able to walk a few feet without the cane although still limping. Did more today and feel small tinsy improvements.
Feel a stitch poking thru top of incision but they are disolvable so leaving it alone.
Thought I was walking better until I saw my reflection in the door window and yep still limping but improvement so better than backwards.

That is great after only 3 weeks! Limping is very normal for now and will get better as your brain stops trying to protect you from the pain. Happy 3 week anniversary!

Week 4 tomorrow
Well you all were right. I am not going to feel the same at 4 weeks :loveshwr:
Walking now without cane and not limping like I was. I will sometimes use the cane outside and some if I feel like I am limping. Groin pain MUCH better!
Able to get my dogs in and out on my own and driving.
No pain meds other than Mobic for about a week now.
When do you try to walk up stairs normally without one leg at a time thingy?
Was afraid to try yet ..thought maybe after the 8 week mark when the bone has possibly ingrown to the stem and cup?
Oh happy day!!! I can walk again without that cumbersome cane!!! :egypdance::yahoo::yahoo::prayer:

Yaay!! You are doing great!
When do you try to walk up stairs normally without one leg at a time thingy?
I think it all depends on how strong your leg muscles are. I am walking up the stairs relatively fine but not really down the stairs all that well. But I have deep town house stairs and lots of them. But yay for driving and all in 4 weeks!

Happy One Month Anniversary!
I hope you’ve had a nice week. It seems you’re making steady progress, hitting lots of milestones.
Thanks for all your sweet support sprinkled around the forum, I’m sure it’s appreciated by many. Have a lovely weekend!

4.5 weeks
What a difference a week makes! I am walking everywhere I feel like I have my life back!!! Went to a outside music event at a lake last night walked all the shops.
To be back out amongst the living with my wonderful hubby ❤ too was heaven! So grateful to God! Hang in there anyone feeling down i thought I would never be right again. I still have pains but they are tolerable!
I truly believe the trick is very little PT and ice

So encouraging!
I bring my dogs home at 3 weeks 3 days. good to know that extra week makes a difference.
Did you do any PT?

@Poodle3 How are the dogs? :puppysmooze:
Hope you are feeling well and getting around better. I am at weeks 6 and I feel so much better this week! This is the most normal I have felt in over a year.
I did not do any Pt other than the first visit at day 2 or 3.
I did ankle pumps leg slides on just because they felt good to do.
Hang in there everyone it does keep getting better!

Anyone know anything about getting a sinus infection post surgery My husband had a low grade fever and stuffy head a day or so before me now I have it. Called my general practioner and she called in some antibiotics and was vague about starting them. Said you could wait a day or so and try nasal decongests first and have antibiotics on hand over the weekend. Have them not sure if I should start them

I had a humdinger of a sinus infection with my first THR. I mean a doozy where my jaw hurt and we were putting hot compresses on it. Took 2 rounds of antibiotics to knock it out. This was all pre-covid so I wasn't much into hand sanitizer or wiping down the shopping carts when I went walking in the store. Being run down from surgery I guess I was susceptible to germs and I got it good.

Hi @Doglover7
Wondering what you decided to do? If you haven't started the antibiotic yet, consider calling your surgeon's office on Monday to see how they advise. I hope you feel better soon. :console2:

I held off feeling better today..just clear discharge from my nose. Throat not sore now..think it's viral as my husband had it first, reading antibiotics won't help viral anyway. I have a followup with her on Tuesday for my hip so I will see here then. But thinking as long as its no worse holding off for now. Thanks Layla!

:hi: Hi @Doglover7
Happy Two Month Anniversary! I missed it yesterday.
I hope you're doing well and the week is off to a good start for you.
Have a great Wednesday and rest of the week! :)

Oh Layla
How could you keep up with all of us :loveshwr:
Oh what a difference weeks make! I am back to work, 6 hours daily. Fully back to taking care ❤ of my dogs and back to pet sitting horses and dogs for my neighbors. Managed to walk thru a sunflower field cut some for a vase. Went to a thrift store today. Walking no cane for weeks. I can even bend down to pull a few weeds before pacing myself to rest.
So Blessed and grateful to my heavenly father and this forum!
Thank you for all your hard work managing this ❤ it was a God send in the early days especially!
Still have some aches and minor pains but NOTHING like before!:roseshwr:

So Blessed and grateful to my heavenly father and this forum!
I Love This! I never tire of the expression from a grateful heart. We're thankful and happy you joined us here and benefitted from the camaraderie found on the forum. You're doing so well, I'm amazed at your progress! Walking unassisted for weeks and back to caring for dogs and horses. Supporting you has been our pleasure, but I certainly hope this isn't goodbye. We'd love to follow the progress of your healing journey awhile longer, so please don't be a stranger here and stop by anytime. Until next time, hugs and best wishes! :friends:

Happy Three Month Anniversary! :yay:
Happy Autumn too! I hope you're doing well and loving life. :)

Hi Everyone
Haven't been on here for quite sometime.
I am doing great! Its getting to where I sometimes forget about my leg, going up the stairs normally but still having a bit of a struggle have to use the handrail a bit still.
Still feels like my leg is longer but that is getting better too.
Just wanted to let any new people on here know that it takes time but you slowly get back to feeling normal.
I am so grateful to my heavenly father for giving me my life back!
Got down in the floor on my knees and could finally reach my bottom shelf and rotated canned goods!!! It's the little things in life!
Hang in there anyone thats struggling i thought I would NEVER be normal again.
I still have some pains but they get less and less.

Happy Sunday @Doglover7
Good to hear from you! Thanks for the update.
Please stay in touch as it gets better and better! :thumb:
