Do you have any idea how old this gets?? It's one thing to go thru this once or twice even acceptable is need for both replaced I understand. In my case it is very frustrating how many times has someone written they would not go thru this for no amount of money?? Lately just going by my history make it thru recovery average time a year and then maybe some minor lingering pain but not enough to worry with but everytime after approx 24 months pain starts getting worse then finally another revision. Sometimes I just want to just call it quits it is just too much all the time. If I had enough guts or faith in having the knee cut off I would but then my luck phantom pain how do you treat something that is not even there? You might say I am frustrated.

Help?? Maybe its me and I have a screw loose but dealing with this is beyond frustrating. Got up one hour ago due to how it feels. I am second guessing my activities. Went for a 6-7 minute walk yesterday and yes it hurt I have hurt worse but maybe that was too much?? Rest of the day just normal everyday stuff no exercises other then the walk. While reading some of the guidelines for recovery so far with at home with different therapist pain has not increased after done. He wants to add some weight 1lb ?? to help with strength but once again that might be asking for more of a headache?? I understand no matter what it's going to hurt but there has to be something I can do with out making it hurt worse. Yes we all have been thru this the lucky ones once maybe twice I must be a glutton for punishment

I am so sorry that this has been a never ending cycle for you. I’m sure it got old a very long time ago. I get frustrated with my one little partial that has never come out right, but that’s nothing compared to all you’e been through.
He wants to add some weight 1lb ?? to help with strength
It is way too early for weights, or strengthening, especially at 3 weeks post op, and very especially with all your leg has been through. If it was me I’d decline.

Thanks this gets to me some days worse then others. We all understand exercise helps in recovery process is stretching okay?? So far with the therapist it hasn't caused an increase in pain which is good. He is working on my extension nothing else. Would you suggest walking or is that too soon?? Right now 7 minute total is my limit and that may even be too much should I reduce that to 5 or ?? My only goal currently is to reduce pain level or if nothing else have it somewhat stabilized instead going from everyday to whatever I did was way too much and suffer. No miracles there is no such thing just suggestions

Short walks are good, at this early stage you just want to retain mobility for your joint. I would think 5 minutes is good, as long as that doesn’t increase your pain level. Personally, I wouldn’t walk until I reached my limit. I never timed my walks, just did a couple of loops around the inside of my house, occasionally, throughout the day.

As others have said, it sounds like you get plenty of movement taking care of your fish tanks, and any other things you need to do in the course of your day. This is what I like to call natural PT. As you heal, you will naturally be able to walk longer and farther, but I wouldn’t rush it.

Oh, and gentle stretching is good, but I wouldn’t push any limits there either.

@Whoever??

Today is turning into misery started blah and that was the high. Pain level is not what I call an 8 but when every day all day long it stays in the 7 range it really drives me nuts. Went for a 5 minute walk much better than a 7 still hurts but not as bad. Worst thing about all of this I knew it was going to be like this even before surgery. Wish today would just end hate being this frustrated daily.

Maybe stop the extra walks for a while, just walk around the house when you need to get from one place to another. It’s only been a few weeks since you’ve had another major surgery. Don’t rush anything.

I understand really but what gets me and it drives me nuts even though if anybody here should know what to expect its me day to day pain. Sure if I added weights to strengthen all that does is set me back. Really what my biggest complaint and I know its only temporary is the every day pain. Even with doing nothing just everyday in the house type activities and no I have no gym work out room etc. Go to bed try to get comfortable good luck and then when you think your okay you wakeup knee is complaining not fun. Get up in the morning thinking alright new day and then you get up start limping knee wants to go limp whether going to rest room ( next to my bedroom ) or down hallway to get coffee it takes away the hope well maybe today will be better. It will but the question is when and considering what the knee has gone thru my guess a year for most me if I am lucky.
Wish I could be more optimistic cheerful or write a post look at me I was able to do such and such today yes I really hate it.

I’m sure I would feel just like you, you’ve had such a long haul. I really, really hope this surgery will improve things for you. It is just so unfair that some have such a hard time and others do quite well.

Sorry I couldn't answer sooner. I have a replacement shoulder now. Had to stay in hospital for 2 extra days, due to several small problems.

This shoulder has hurt a lot and I won't be typing much. Hoping for improvements as time goes by.
I hope the same applies for you. :friends:

I’m so sorry that your pain has been so all consuming. I give you credit for even doing what you do at a pain level like that.
im sure you have said at some point but have you ever considered seeing a pain dr- short term- to pull through this long recovery? Someone with that type of history-it would take a dr who specializes in helping pain....
You are getting through it though- just never will feel like that when in so much pain.

I wish I could offer you some comforting words to ease your pain. I am so sorry you are having such a hard time and dealing with so much pain. I know from reading your posts, you have really had quite a hard road to recovery. I agree with @Cococay about talking to someone who specializes in pain to help get you more comfortable. Looking forward to hearing better news form you soon.

Really appreciate the kind words may not help with knee pain but it helps with mental pain. Well another day lots of rain cold chilly great thing about w/o doing anything the weather now adds the pain this time.

Had in-home PT yesterday everything went okay until the walk!! Did a 5 minute walk round trip do not want to over do it ( pretty well versed in what to expect in over doing it!! )the therapist wanted me to use 1 crutch vs 2 and to take longer strides well being a glutton for punishment I did try. The rest of the day took it easy lots of ice elevate thankfully pain eased up that evening. Not that ROM is important to me and I have not done anything to improve you know the " Bone Smart " way I was measured 135 and this is after 26 days with no exercises in regards to improving ROM!!.

@whoever instead of writing those that have offered support

I do have a pain management team however while yes the pain stinks and I have yet to reach a 6 ( boy do I wish !!! ) at this point there is nothing that can be done. No I am not a Dr. but I have been down this road before. Currently I have Medtronics Pain stimulator inside of me due to having nerve damage from a weightloss surgery when they had to replace the battery they added a wire to stimulate the nerve going to the knee. Its much better then a 10's unit you have more options only real drawback have to recharge battery every so often ( 2-3 weeks ) and the battery itself only lasts a certain number of years the current one 9 it runs out 2022 which like it or not yet another surgery but its outpatient.
Pain meds as of right now 10mg of Oxycodone 1-2 every 4 hours. No matter what you take your still going to have pain and right now yes I have pain kind of hard to tell with my wonderful posts!! Ha Ha. I am on a fairly high and yes there are stronger meds but the Dr. are only going to do so much. Its not like I have something really bad going on ex. cancer. I believe like it or not due to number of surgeries frequency of surgeries ( approx every 2-3 yrs ) I am going to experience more pain then the average patient because of my history and yes it stinks.
Love ice if there was no such thing as pain meds in my opinion next best thing. I elevate along with the ice. I am also using a frozen bottle of water to roll back and forth over knee to hopefully make it less sensitive??
Other meds 600mg Gabapentin 3x a day Celebrix 200mg 2x a day.
Not that all of this has made the pain take a hike but it does help. I have had nerve blocks that have failed the reason considering the amount of times this knee has been opened up the nerves have been moved and its almost impossible to get any relief because of that. I have had on several times over the past few years had Dr.s attempt to do a block but to date they all failed.
Yes I complain and yes who wants to hear some or be around someone who complains since its just me this forum allows me to vent and yes sometimes (a lot has to do with level of pain ) I can be a jerk its happened a several times but in the end I know everyone here is just trying to help so thanks

@Celle @Jockette @Pumpkln @etc

Some were suggesting I see Pain management specialist I replied previous thread and why currently really its grin and bear it time.
First I would like to write and tell @Celle I really hope your recovery goes well you have been very nice even when I have been pretty much a jerk. My issue when I hurt things just get taken the wrong way really sorry. Now I do hope you follow your own advice and others on your recovery and do not pretend your me and think over doing it is a okay. Big Mistake!!
To everyone else it started off not too bad and now you just would not want to be in my shoes I am almost in tears I truly hate this.Tired of complaining tired of taking the pain meds tired of every single day wondering how bad its going to feel this day or the next. Damn it I am just so sick and tired of this whole thing and there is nothing I can do about it. Dam it I just hate it I am so sorry.

Frustrating what you are going through, seems like an endless cycle.
Has anyone mentioned the Curable app for chronic pain? You may find it helpful, they have a free trial so you can look around before purchasing. The app is available on your computer as well as smart phones.You can find them at curablehealth.com .
