Bow Chicka Wow Wow!

I'm feeling chuffed with myself today....

Sorry Diane I never replied to your earlier post about the juicers! Makes perfect sense about watching your budget while you are recovering. I tried your fresh carrot juice drink today (first time ever) yummy it was very good! At costcos grabbed a large bag of the baby peeled carrots much easier instead of peeling, also the celery. I do go to Costcos for my salad items, I just find the quality and life span longer instead of the supermarket, and much more cost effective! Tomorrow will get kale, lemons and some other items at store.

Nice to know Z that heels are not your thing hehehehehe!

Jen my closet is really one big shoe warehouse! I wouldnt consider myself to be a complete shoe trollop, i just went through a phase for a few years, enough said :) tempted to eBay some, I say this now, I've never done anything on eBay I've heard it's very easy. This whole week I've been on this potential spring cleaning mode..sign spring is in the air yes!!! I also need to get rid of my hip stuff the 3-1, bath-shower tub, walker. I probably will donate I remember Cardie writing about this.

Love that it's Friday.....Yay!

Hey Sarah,

Good for you to have another successful trip to Costcos. I have never been able to wear heels and now live in sneakers and orthotics and will get new sneakers tonight (online) after reading everyones posts about new shoes. No worries about responding to posts...if you get organic carrots you don't have to peel, just wash well.
You sound happy and that is great!

Hi Sarah,

It sounds like you are doing splendidly! Are you ready for your PT to start???? :thumb:Excited about it??? Try not to have too much juice before your sessions, we don't want to hear about any embarrassing accidents on the treadmill because you couldn't make it to the loo (Sandy's word). :th_heehee:

Take care and have a nice weekend,
Cardie

Hi Cardie,

The visual of pooping my pants during therapy just doesn't sound like a good idea hahahahaha!!

I'm ready for therapy it's next Friday afternoon, I just hope the guy is good and nice, without sounding bratty I also want to have his entire attention which I will the first time because it's an evaluation. I'll be sure to make sure it's that way each time :). Hopefully I haven't done things back to front (funny) with waiting for therapy, I figure I haven't done muscle exercises in years so what's a few more weeks, right? Yesterday's no cane flowed nicely into todays walking routine NICE I'm definitely in a new part of my recovery and Im loving it. It's nippy here today 20's and windy brrrrrrrr we still bundle up and head out luckily the sun is shinning, that goodness there is no snow yikes!

Back to the therapy if it's not great, I'm might pop over to the kinetic place and do some sessions, why not the cost wouldn't be that different by the time I work out copayments etc.

Happy weekend!

xxooxx

Sarah

I've mentioned how PT can be "boring". Do anything you can to look forward to going. May be plan a meeting with a friend afterwards. I think you will realize how far you have come once doing PT. Expect to be sore after the first visit. Do you have a choice of Male/Female. You might want to consider what you are most comfortable with.

Sarah-Im glad to hear your starting PT!! I love PT and all of the therapists I have had.

If you get a good therapist, not only do they help with your recovery/body but can be great for the mental side of things.

If you happen to get one you dont like, ask for someone else!!

Sarah - I sure hope your PT is as good and nice as mine is :) She/He will make you work on the areas that need work - but do not tolerate any dictatorial attitude ;)

Just a word of caution to any and all juicers - I was talking to my brother last night and he and his wife started serious juicing on Jan. 1 - He said initially he felt great with the juices being created. However after about 2 weeks he developed (again) symptoms of gout! He had had an episode of this about a year ago and it is very painful so he knew right away what was happening. Now he's usually an active person and does not eat much that would cause gout symptoms so he was quite shocked and upset by this development. He talked to his doctor and did some on line research and discovered that one of the foods highest in what ever it is that causes gout is SPINACH! And his wife had been using "tons" (his word) of that leafy green in her juices! Well he stopped slurping the juices and with in a few days the gout was gone. They now are using different leafy greens for their juices and being a bit more selective in what they put into them.

Thanks Sandy.

Haldox love your new profile photo, beautiful!

No preference Chef, its a guy though my OS nurse gave me a sheet of a bazillion names, then pointed this one out for me. My home therapist was a girl and she was fabulous, no nonsense, direct and good!

I'm laughing Deb, no for sure on the dictorial attitude...funny!! The other thing I have no plans in hurting either. Thanks for the gout thought, seriously it's good to think about those things, I'm going pretty easy on the kale and have a couple of times used spinach but not tons. Last year I was eating quite a bit of spinach in salads and it stared to bother my tummy,so you really have reminded me to not go crazy, I'm playing around with different variations. I'm trying to only use one fruit because of the sugar content.

It's snowing here tonight! It will be gone by tomorrow, we went out this evening and it was coming down pretty heavy just not sticking to the ground it's too warm for it to settle.

Bedtime.....work tomorrow!

Hey Sarah,

Good luck with PT, I like your attitude about having no plans for hurting. I had my home PT with the dictatorship attitude and felt he wasn't really listening to me when I would tell him things were too much. I ended up hurting in my R groin so much I had to go to my OS Friday just to make sure all was OK. So no more PT for me with this fellow. My OS told me what stretches to do and to walk, walk, walk, and ride recumbant bike. So I am on my own for a while and we'll see how things go.

It's snowing here tonight to, really seems like winter now but it shouldn't last either. Took my meds so nitey nite for me too.

Your PT sounds good Sarah, nice and gentle but targeting and problem spots - sounds good.

Nite nite... Miles stop that snoring, let Mummy get some sleep, it's a work day tomorrow... Lots of love to you both xx

Hi there….

Today was my first official outpatient therapy session! I lucked out big time, my therapist is first class hes friendly, and has a good sense of humor. He’s does therapy also with the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Stars, rest assured my future is not to become a sports personality (laughing!) we did basic stuff, rode bike and did some baby squats and one other tippy toe exercise. He said the key now to my recovery was working on aerobic activity and strength building and 99% of this is done by me not at a therapy session. My prescription says 3x a week he was cool and said I could go to him weekly or 2x a week up to me, so for now I’m doing 2x a week. I liked him because he was very realistic in what I was willing to do in homework activity, I really don’t like exercising it completely bores the heck out of me! My muscle tightness is definitely years old not just since my surgery. I have excellent range of motion in my hip, no pain. Today was first time riding bike and it was flawless. It’s just the stiffness which can be annoying at times, not major though. He even showed me how to properly get onto the floor and get up. He said I was very strong, my walking has helped with this big time. Very happy today!

Monday will be 12 weeks post-surgery! My biggest highlight is not having any pain, the hip is perfect, I know that sounds funny it really is perfect, since the day of my surgery I had felt this way with the joint! All I need to do is lose some weight and continue walking, now ride bike and continue to get stronger. My limp is fading.

Happy its Friday…plus we have a long 3 day weekend because of holiday Monday YAY!

Hope everyone is well!

Hi Sarah,

I peeked in here earlier to see if you'd done a write up about PT yet...

What a wonderful report you share!! I am so pleased for you and think these next few weeks of PT are just going to be the icing on the cake for you.

Have an awesome weekend,
Cardie

Thanks everyone!

Charlie you always make me giggle. Thats one of my favorite side comments that in another lifetime I wanna come back as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader hahahahahha too funny!!

Cardie, your advice to delay the therapy was good. Im planning on enjoying this part and feel much stronger, more confident. To have started earlier would have been tough, along with working full time and walking the dog etc. Im not the fastest in my recovery time, I'd like to think though Ive taken things easy and not over done things, meaning nothing painful or wild surprises.

This week I suddenly thought..WOW this is a big surgery and its a BIG deal what we have all been through. No regrets like you haldox I completely feel appreciative PLUS love my OS and his team who got me to this point. I also feel very grateful I only had to deal with one hip and hope over the years this is the case. Nothing wrong with my left hip at all.

wishing everyone lots of good healing and lots of love!

Hiya Sarah

I too was waiting to hear all about your PT... Fantastic.. You are going ahead in leaps and bounds. I think you were so right fir you to wait until you felt the time was right for the next activity

Must admit, I feel positively lazy since the episode with my tootsies, stopped me walking my office laps.. Have to get motivated again.. There see what you have done? You have brought the spark back into me... Early am Sat here, time to get up and walk the treadmill (or maybe go to the farmers market and pig out on all the yummy food..... Heheheheh!)

Miss you and Miles xxxxxxxxxx

12 weeks post surgery!

Since my first therapy session last Friday, I have not been using my cane which feels great plus limp has gone! I do waddle a litte at home when im tired or when i first get up getting much easier though! I did therapy again today and did some good exercises using the thera-bands I like the one where both feet are inside a band and I walk sideways feels good! Plus we do this one where I balance for 5 seconds on each leg, do this 10x for 3 sets plus thee are 3 types, leg straight then to an angle then to the side. I feel very strong and very optimistic by 6 months I'll be back to normal, maybe sooner!

Back to the cane therapist did say to take on shopping trips, long journeys and leave in car just incase legs get tired.

Love having today off from work. I'm having a super duper clean inside my home day, yikes it was pretty dusty. Been up and down step ladder dusting the ceiling fans. Even went to the laundry mat with my feather duvet, pillows etc much easier to wash there then do at home takes forever a home! Even baby Miles had a bath. (not at Laundry mat hehehehehe in sink)

My other good news....lost 14 lbs it's hard work really cut back on portion control and pretty much stopped all sugar, starch stuff (boooooohooooooo) It's so easy to fall off track and eat whenever, however no control but wow once those pounds creep back on its horrible! I feel so much better already and plan to stick to my new routine....kinda goes hand in hand with the therapy part too!

12 weeks ago around the time I'm writing this I was in surgery, surreal it seems a long time ago now :)

Thank you for the support and love. I need to catch up and read some posts today!

Love to all!

xxooxx
