THR Cisne on the other side

@hoppy Mary Thank you very much! That is very sweet of you. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow at Mass as well. I have to say that I'm jealous you're in Dublin. We lived in the North for a teacher exchange a few years back. I'd move back tomorrow! Hope you are well.

Day 52: today was a very low key day. Got up about 9:30 and did my exercises, did a little knitting on my shark week themed socks, and had lunch. A little laundry, a little house cleaning, and a quick visit to the grocery. Tonight more knitting and watching Shark Week. Talked to a couple friends on the phone. Increased pain tonight, so a pain pill and my hot water bottle. Tomorrow I'm heading into school to do some lesson planning and have lunch with a friend. Hope everyone is well.

Love me some shark week. I'm watching this afternoon, I was cleaning out the dvr last night.

Hope you have as good day at school! I'm iced, elevated and watching sharks.

Hi all! The two hours at school turned out to be too long. I did very little physical work-brought some materials in from the car, printed some information for the new school year and wa
Led to the printer in the staff room. By the time I chatted w a colleague on the way out my hip was throbbing. I came home and iced. Tramadol may have been used! I ran my son to his piano lesson, and then to basketball. I slept like the dead, but woke up stiff with increased limp. The limp has started to feel normal on some level. Yesterday I had to ask a friend if I was limping. Her response was yep, pretty badly. Oops. Okay. I feel pretty good about where I am lesson wise. The classroom still needs TLC, and I'm a little worried about making it through the day standing. Tonight will feature more shark week/shark sock knit time.
Hang in there everyone!

@Cisne it sounds like it was too much today. I think Josephine advises 12 weeks before returning to work then phased in. My doctor said 2 months or more for me but I have a desk job. We will see, right now I'm not sure if I would be ready but I'm about 38 days. I hope you are ready when it's time. Do you think you could sit down while you teach. I wish you well. Cheryl

@Cisne I feel for you. I'm supposed to start teaching 8/21. The plan is to ease into it with a reduced load for at least 2-3 weeks. I am nervous about it and I'm only on a 2-day schedule (college teaching).

Saying prayers that you'll find the balance between getting stronger without overdoing it. It's so hard to find that sweet spot! Take care.

Hi all! Thank you so much for the well wishes. Today I headed to a town about 45 minutes away to take DS 15 school shopping and to lunch at Chuy's. This has been our back to school tradition for as long as I can remember. Now that he's older trapping him in the car is an excellent way to hear what's on his mind! I love spending time w him and hearing his thoughts. I'm now home resting and icing. Tomorrow I'm working in my classroom-decorating and getting ready for the first day, next week. Teachers return Tuesday, and students come on Thursday. Hope everyone is well!

Day 57: Happy Friday everyone. Today I did some work getting ready for this year's religious education program that I help with. It doesn't start til September but it feels good having it almost ready. Had lunch with my co-director and her husband then headed home. Current location: resting and icing. I talked to one of the PTs last night regarding the limp. This was after seeing a friend who hadn't seen me since before surgery who commented on the limp. PT doesn't think there is anything they can do-just keep using the cane to avoid limping. So, I guess it's back to school with the cane. Oh, well. My range of motion is really good post op, and my pain level is mostly doable. Tonight's plan is rest and ice, and read.
All the best

Ditto limp here till I get my other hip @Cisne . I wish you didn't have e School so soon but yes read and ice... can't beat it after a busy day. :ice:

@Cisne Hi Michele, I'm temporarily back in the limping club. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm iced, elevated, drugged, drinking coffee and watching baseball on the hotel tv. We got a suite, so DW is watching something else in the sitting area. Life is good.
Or it will be until we go back to work. Good luck next week!

Hi. I am late on this thread. I will be 12 weeks next Tuesday. I think the reality of this heal process is eye opening. My RTHR posterior went well. But because my left needs surgery pain is still my companion. I tried to remember to always straighten my back and shoulders. Taking long strives with my needs back. It is hard and awkward. My left hi0 is scheduled for September 12 and my hope it will help balance things out.
Hang in there. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel no matter how many times it may move.
Well wishes to all.

It's gonna keep getting better..I am right ahead of you. I'm sure that bad hip makes things a little tough.
You sound determined and hopeful and that will pull you through. What a great Christmas we will have.

Hi guys! Today is day 58. Spent about 5 hours in the car driving to and from DSs basketball tournament. The last of the AAU year. While the trip up wasn't totally comfortable, I'm home now and feeling pretty good. It was a really beautiful day here in So. Indiana. Talked to a friend who is a podiatrist who feels my leg length is off more than expected. This was after watching me walk and looking at me standing in a variety of positions. I did forget to ask what he thinks I should do. Hope everyone is well.
