Hi all! I had a lazy weekend as the fever continues to make me feel like I'm in a fog. Blood cultures should be back this evening, but I don't expect them to be positive. Then again, I was surprised by the high CRP and SED. My gut feeling (without any good reason) is that I'm allergic to the implant. Or maybe it's just less scary than an infection! I'm guessing my limp has gotten worse because yesterday at the grocery a friend I hadn't seen since surgery commented on it. Silly me, I thought I was hiding it well when holding on to the grocery cart! The rash has now spread to my face. The rash on my incision looks about the same, but I'm thinking that the other areas are fading. I'm starting to stress about everything I need to get done before school starts again in two weeks. I need to make a trip to the teacher supply store which is a two hour drive, get my classroom set up, and write lesson plans. I'm a little worried about standing/walking all day. Walking was going really well until about a week ago when putting weight on my surgical leg started to become more painful. My balance on that leg is almost non-existent. I'm guessing that has to do with the infection/allergy possibility. Still, I've got to start thinking about how to make it work for school. I teach elementary (Spanish) so we do lots of movement, dancing, and the like. I'm off to do my exercises, water some flowers, and maybe knit. I'll update when I hear rom the Dr. I hope everyone has an awesome day!

HI there @Cisne do you think you might have shingles or something like that? I suppose your doctor would have caught that right away. If you are having a reaction to the implant hopefully your body will adjust and accept it. I wish you well. Cheryl

You are admirably strong given the possible scenarios you're dealing with. Hopefully it's neither an infection, or allergic reaction, but some unexplainable symptom that dissipates on its own. Will pray for your stress level to decrease and that all necessary to set up your classroom falls into place.
Sending a hug.......please keep us posted.

Hi @cpollock ! Pretty sure it's not shingles, but thank you for thinking of me. How are you doing?
@Layla Hope you are doing well! It seems by GP called my surgeon. The surgeon's office call to say he will see me tomorrow morning at 8:30. I'll keep you guys posted!

Please do... Worrying about you..I hope all goes well.

Hey @dougie0216 ! The fever has been present off and on today. Better than all day! Hip pain has been worse the past few evenings. Actually, it hurts worse than my post op pain. I've found myself taking pain meds the past few nights. I'm hoping for some answers tomorrow. Also, hoping to avoid the dreaded hip aspiration. It sounds like you have lots of exciting and busy things coming up. I'm sure your granddaughter will be excited to see you. The teacher in me wonders how you can made the stopping every hour fun. Selfie w u or a stuffed toy etc. with scenery in the background each time. Send them to the grand as updates?
I went into work today for a quick visit. Saw a co-workers new baby-adorable. I think this was my third post op trip in. The first was at 2 weeks for a committee meeting. Lots of fun w the walker! . Have a good evening!

Please let us know tomorrow aka today how the doctor went. I don't know which is better and infection or allergy to the hip. I am praying it's whatever is best. You and I both are a bit of a mess. I am more worried on you. That was really extra nice you posted in my thread with all you have going on. Huge healing hugs

Hi @Irish Joe ! Yes, I had a productive appointment this morning. He did an ultrasound to check for hematoma or excess fluid. That was fine. He ordered a repeat of last weeks blood work to check levels. Finally, I am to see an allergist for metal sensitivity testing. However, the first available appointment isn't until October. Also, I am to use the cane again because of the limp.

@Josephine Do you have any idea about traditional testing for metal allergies vs blood work? Thanks!
Michele
