THR Cisne on the other side

Glad to hear you are managing Cisne. It's alot to get back to so early on...but I wish you all the best. Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!:yes!:

I agree with Layla that it is good younonly had work 2 days this week. Just try to take it easy on the weekend to rest up for next week. I'm sure you will do well, although I'd think the first few weeks might be tiring.

Hi all and happy Saturday! I made it through the first two days surprising well! I am tired, a bit swollen, but overall my hip feels pretty good. I have been sitting when I can. The days feel really long and I wish I had thought to ask about doing 1/2 days for awhile. Oh, well! It was nice to be back with my colleagues and of course the kids make it worthwhile. After school I have been taking it easy, resting, and icing. I'm not sure there would be another possibility. My body just seems to give out by late afternoon. I've only needed Tramadol once. Two days successfully completed! Did I mention my left (non-op hip is killing me? Let's hope it's compensation. The kids have been really accepting of the cane. We've named him Roberto, and I've told them he only speaks Spanish. Now when they see me in the halls they great us both in Spanish. Sneaky teacher way of getting them to use their vocabulary. Lazy Saturday today-hair appointment and getting my son ready for his first day of Sophomore year on Tuesday.
Hugs to all,
Michele

@Cisne I love you naming the cane and getting the kids to learn both languages. Very cool and cute way to teach them.

I know my other hip needed replacement as we did XRay of both day one. I am in mega pain on not operated hip so for me it's the one leg a bit longer gig.

I admire you for doing so well at work in spite of all . Hugs

You are doing great @Cisne it may be tough going the first week or 2 back to work but I bet you will get in routine quickly. Make sure to take Roberto with you everywhere, might need flashing lights on him to keep track, hehe. I wish you well. Cheryl

Glad you made it through the first days. That post op energy drain still lingering with me at 3 months out. I can do a 6-8 hour day but then I am absolutely useless.

@Cisne I finally got to read your update. I like your wit. How is 'Beto' doing?
I was OK yesterday. I worked all day with only minor issues, mainly upon standing I had a little twinge in front. I was great until I got home. Then once I ate and found the couch, I largely did not move until bedtime.

Hi guys! I've just finished day 4 of the year. This was my first day in building number three. I've now taught in all my buildings for this year! Things are going well. I'm pretty tired by days end BUT I'm normally pretty exhausted the first 2-3 weeks of a normal year. I'm definitely a little swollen and my muscare letting me know they are a little unhappy. Overall, it's been a good first few days. I even jogged a few steps(okay, maybe 4) after the dog when he escaped out the garage this afternoon. I feel like my stride gets shorter in the afternoon, especially after the ride home. This was the case pre-op as wel. I figure it will be better as healing occurs. @dougie0216 Im so glad day one was a success!
Hugs to all,
Michele

@Cisne Hi Michele, I am in the middle of back to work day 3. I had a wasp fly at me the other day so I had to run several steps. That was enough.
I am glad you are getting in the swing of things, and I hope your endurance comes back sooner than later.

After the first day back, I made sure I got up a lot more yesterday and walked around my building several times. I even did stairs on purpose.

I couldn't imagine standing and teaching class, though. I chose the administrative route many years ago. I still teach, only I train employees and work with broadcasting lab students on writing skills and digital editing. I do have to turn in several grading rubrics each year for assessment purposes. And worry about money and sign papers.... However, I can do all of that in a seated position.

Day 74: sorry to be MIA the past few days, but it's been busy and I've been tired. The first two weeks of school always kicks my tush, and this year maybe more than normal. School is going well, I'm getting to know the new routine and kiddos bit by bit. I did a bit of a Dougie on Friday afternoon-My schools devide students into houses a la Harry Potter and at the sorting celebration the kids were sliding down an inflatable slide. I noticed no one was managing the top and so I climbed to the top and took charge. At the end I realized there was only one way down and so my new hip and I slid down the bouncy slide. No harm came to me or my hip, but I did get a worried look from a fellow teacher. I've also been experimenting with both ice and heat per my surgeon's request. Hope you are all doing well!

Wow Michele that is one for the books, down a bouncy castle Slide? Not sure what to say, hehe. I'm glad it was uneventful and you're OK. Good for you on managing returning to work ok. I bet you are tired. Take care and no more silly antics. I wish you well. Cheryl

Go Cisne!
That was great and unexpected!
Don't know if I'd have the courage at this point.
You even impressed @dougie0216.....now that's major!
A great day to you! @Cisne

I would have been a bit apprehensive about a slide. Most of the crazy stuff I do involves one or two feet on a surface of some sort.

Day 76: still making progress. The past few days I've been dancing with the kids during brain breaks in class. Amazing todo that and not hurt. I still have some soreness left in the front of my leg-I'm guessing hip flexor. I'll ask at my 3 month appointment next week. I'm also aware how weak that side is. I'm thinking about asking for a PT script to see if that will help. If all is well the plan is to return to Taekwondo September 1st. Hope everyone is well!
Hugs,
Michele
