THR Chappyd's recovery story

I'm also not liking bridges...unhelpful, in my opinion, especially these early days.
Lots of healing still happening.
I loved my first follow up and xrays.
I framed mine (very amateurish job) to keep me mindful as mine always felt very natural.
Cool pics! Ya, I am going to forego those bridges. Not for me, not now that's for sure. Spent a lot of time with my ice pad last night, and going to bed was still uncomfortable. A nights rest seems to have helped quite a bit.

And I agree that the new hip joint does feel like the other one now. Very natural all the muscle upheaval aside of course ! :loll:

Oh for sure... I felt like someone used my quads for punching bags.:umm:
Actually I think my thighs were more sore than my incision.
Glad you are going to give the bridges a pass for now...you will love getting some reassurance from your doctor appointment today.
All if this slow and steady recovery business will be well worth it...summer is going to be sweet and your hip will thank you, and your dog will too!:dogsniff:

@Chappyd I'm curious to know where you are feeling the effect of the bridges? I did 10 reps only lifting my bum up about 3/4 inches yesterday at physio. The only other things I did was more walking with the cane, weight transfer and a 3" step but I have a pain in my rear that will likely be on ice all morning.
:ice:

Oh! Oh! *Raises hand* I know this one!

That sounds like muscle soreness on your glutes, due to working previously disused muscles. As the glutes get stronger the soreness should recede.

Back from the post op visit. All went well, though they did prescribe a months worth of PT outside the house. I think I'll do that around the end of the week. The local place I've been to a couple of times I like. Iced a lot last night, and after a nights rest it's better today. Baby steps!! The PA did say I could walk as much as I want, and although I won't hurt my hip, she said if I overdo it I will pay for it, lol. Oh and I got a cute little plastic card to show TSA agents at the airport, somehow I doubt they will be impressed. :what: Got a new picture too- I get 2 screws as a bonus I guess. She said everyone gets 2 screws! umm... OK.:yes!:

Once again I have been very impressed by the team of professionals that I have been lucky enough to have
available to fix me :yay:

Good update, lovely hip picture, agree with no bridges! Keep plugging along, slowly but surely because I'm going to need you guys the end of June when I have mine to cheer me on!
:heehee:

Please don't do Bridges. You could very well set yourself back with them. They are for core strengthening
and not beneficial for the recently traumatized soft tissue and muscles that are healing. Bridges put a great amount of pressure on the hip joint. Keep the good progress you're enjoying on track.
No Bridges pretty please :bignono:
Best Wishes for a peaceful evening.
@Chappyd

Those screws should make up for the couple you have loose! :heehee:

Take it from someone in agony today - DON'T do bridges. I have been bordering tears all day. I did good with my cane yesterday before PT, now I can hardly walk with my walker. Worst day yet!

The whole "bridges" thing is something I would never have thought to do on my own. Why they have it in the exercise log in his app I don't know. I'm taking a few days off with NO exercise other than walking, then I'll go pay the local PT people a visit.

Ouch! I'm wondering about the benefit of PT, especially those bridges. When I go visit my local PT later this week, I want to see how it will be. I tend to move around a lot throughout the day. Definitely gonna be slower going here, and ice is on the menu this evening! I hope you see some relief soon Carriemay!

You can play bridge, you can drive over a bridge, that's it for bridges.

Your body is in charge of knowing if something is helpful or HURTFUL.
If not helpful, than hurtful!

You've got this, ChappyD:ok:

My physio made me do them on second visit in my first few days home. Claimed I was doing them anyway when I pushed myself up the bed. No I wasn't! I put as little effort as possible into doing them and mentally wrote off physio as being complete rubbish!

From the description, I think they maybe had me doing bridges, or a bridge, from Day 0. Since I was too dizzy to get out of bed, and had to rise to the challenge of a bed pan.

Nice pic @Chappyd . I too wanted my piccie, it was quite a lot of red tape, but worth it to me. I had no screws. My cup is cementless too, so I hope it stays put.
