ByGosh, Kylesh and zauberflöte, I have to tell you.... I really hate splashing. I know it's silly to hate splashing when one is basically sitting IN the water, but.... so be it. I think I got conditioned from all my years of wearing contact lenses: I was afraid they'd get washed out of my eyes. I DO love to stop paddling and just run my hands in the water, though.....
ByGosh, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one feeling overprotective of my kids at the moment! It's amazing Goshgirl was able to fly out, but.... I guess they were able to fly out of the storm or something?! I hope she's having a good time.
Our cats are 17 1/2 (both from the same litter) and not in tip-top shape, so... yes, that's a bit of a worry also.
So, Goshman might work, or (didn't ZF already recommend
Mr Gosh, since you are "By" Gosh?
Also, I just wanted to reflect.... when I saw my OS at my 2 week appointment, he particularly cautioned me against overambitious PT folks, being encouraged by how I could move, might try to get me to do more. In particular he demonstrated a lunge and said to me, "do NOT do this!!" (From that moment forward I believe I "underachieved" in regard to leg lifts, etc when in the presence of the PT.)
One would hope that the PTs we get would be particularly trained in regard to hip issues, but I don't think that's always the case. What clued me in on this was when my mom had her hip replaced, about 3 1/2 years ago. The first day she was at the rehab place (a different one from where she is now) I was present as a staff member was going to transport her somewhere by wheelchair. The wheelchair happened not to have foot rests, so the attendant told her to cross her legs in order to keep her feet from dragging!! I let out a "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!" and that was averted..... but I was really surprised they didn't know that leg-crossing might be a hip no-no.
It really pays to advocate for ourselves!
