Butterfly ... isn't your next THR early Nov. ... or is it tomorrow, 10/28???
We will all want to send good wishes to you before you go back in.....

Peaches It was scheduled for the 4th, but they moved it up to tomorrow, the 28th of Oct. I had a major worry fit about the fact that my swab came back positive for MRSA in my nose. I made the fatal error of looking it up on the net and scared myself into a major panic attack. Josephine has me pretty much settled down at this point, tho I'm still a bit uneasy. OS says not to worry about it, but you know me -- I still worry. I don't know what time the surgery is, but I have to be at the hospital at 1:30 Mountain Time.

I can't wait to have this all over with and get back into some kind of life and lose this walker. I hate the walker, and it makes my hands numb. It is just a flare up of my old carpal tunnel thing, but it bugs. ALso I have serious cabin fever from being pretty much cooped up in this house since July.

I hope you are feeling a bit better. I sure don't envy you your commute to work. I don't think I could do it. I'm glad I retired -- I won't exactly be living high on the hog, but I think I'll be OK. I was just sick and tired of my job, my boss, toxic work environment, getting up at the crack of dawn every day, and the whole thing, besides the pain of the hips problem.

Peace and love to you, and thank you for thinking of me.

Milli

Peace and prayers tomorrow!

Wow Butterfly back in again so soon. Best of luck...we will be hear waiting to help you get rid of the walker and out of the house!!!!! And on with your new improved life!!!

If Josephine says not to worry....then don't.....well not too much anyway!!!!!!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.......talk soon

Butterfly, don't worry...I tested positive the first time and they had folks gown up till my doc looked at the results and said I didn't really have MRSA...or at least not anything that would cause a problem with my knee replacement. Will think of you tomorrow and watch for your first slurry post hope all goes well.

Roofmaster Well, I go in for my second hip tomorrow, They moved the surgery up a week, which is fine. Looking forward to having this all over with.

You're about a month ahead of me (and 20 years younger). Is your walking gait back to normal or somewhere near so? I'm still using a walker at OS instructions, but then I still have one very bad hip. I've tried a time or two to take a few steps without it, but of course I'm still very wonky because of the bad hip and unable to carry weight equally on both legs. New hip is doing great and almost no pain at all unless I overdo it, which I did yesterday.

Did you do any outpatient PT?? It will get a bit pricey for me if I do it more than a few times, and Josephine always says hips don't need much, so I'm thinking of more or less blowing it off. What do you think?

Anyway just writing to see how you are doing and asking you to keep me in your thoughts and prayers for tomorrow.

Peace and love to you.

nmscienceteacher Thanks. The OS says I don't really "have" MRSA, but my nose is colonized. He says alot of people have it in their nose and so they give you this goop to put in your nose to kill it. He says he isn't worried about it, tho they will give me some extra antibiotics right before surgery. I guess it isn't really a big deal, and Josephine says it isn't (she is always right) so I'm trying to settle down. Unlike you, with all the craziness in your life, I do not have much in my life to occupy my mind right now, so I tend to really overdo worrying about my hip stuff. Wish I could stop doing that! Soon, hopefully, I'll be able to get back out in the community and do some volunteer stuff or church stuff or something so I don't feel like such an isolated slug. You can't just sit in your house alone most of the time and not get a little bit mushy-brained, at least I can't. But I sure couldn't cope with all you are coping with, and that's the truth! I admire your stamina and dedication.

Please think of me and/or send me a prayer tomorrow.

Peace and love to you.

Hi, Butterfly ... gosh, I am so glad I checked in today. Had no clue your surgery was pushed up! I'm so glad for you as you will now be that much closer to having this saga behind you. So sorry about the bump in the road. But Josephine is right about it all, I'm sure. Anyone would worry, so stop beating yourself up about worrying. I'll go to your other thread now!

Hi Butterfly.Wow I hadnt checked in here for quite a few days and am pleasantly surprised to see your having your 2nd hip done TODAY.Im sorry I havent been on since Friday as my weekends are jam packed.Well Milli I did zero outpatient PT.With common sense, google and youtube and bonesmart I figured I had it covered.I think Josephine is absolutely correct in that the hips seem to just sort themselves.Im not saying theres not a lot of hard work involved but if I wasnt going back to work roofing,as you are not, then Im pretty sure that just lifes activities and a small assortment of hip strengthening exercises would be quite sufficient to have you back in the swing of things relatively quickly. The trick is to move.No matter what you must keep moving, and resting eating moving resting eating lots of protien.Take extra vitamins.Im a huge advocate of nutrition. You cant build a house without a proper foundation, lumber, bricks, shingles. You cant build a body without the same, food, especially protien are our building blocks.Dont get discouraged if your second surgery and recovery doesnt mirror your first.Try not to compare the two.Treat them both as two seperate surgeries. Before you know it you will be walking unaided, standing tall.Nutrition nutrition nutrition.Ive gained a little weight,no big deal,I'll shed it when I need to.I wanted a surplus of calories not a deficit to assure this flesh and bones has everything it needs to rebuild itself. My walking gate is strong and confident. Its been a long arduous journey as we all know and I believe there will be some lifestyle changes that may have to be made but we can and will do this.Luv ya Milli good luck today.Im on my mountain bike riding around the cranberry bogs taking a break to write to you.Talk to you soon.Peace.

Thinking about you milli and praying lots! Just think it's all done now :) can't wait to hear from you

Butterfly, thinking of you tonight as I work on school stuff far too late...hope you are reclining in drugged bliss in the hospital now...hope to hear from you soon that it all went smoothly. Best....vick

Hi Butterfly. Hope it went well

I totally agree with Roofmaster about the PT you could do it all at home and the pool. I'm happy to tell u what I do at my awesome health fund covered program if that helps. Knees seem worse but hips a lot more basic

Let me know if you want to know my program

Take it easy. Xxx

Thinking of you a lot this week, Butterfly, wondering if you'd landed (and also wondering where to post for your "second time around." Sure hope you are doing okay and they're taking good care of you in the hospital. Remember: No two recoveries are alike, even when it's the same person. Just hang in there, take every day as it comes, and remember we are all here and pulling for you. Looking forward to hearing from you when you feel up to it. Take care.
