Sounds like a good plan. I'll be 11 weeks out tomorrow, and I'm still not back to kayaking 3 or 4 times a week as I used to do---but compensating for that is my being able to walk much farther than I have in years, and bike riding is a dream, no pain at all. Sitting is the worst, and that means sitting in a kayak, too. But it will get better.

You'll get back to your usual level of skating, but you're smart to take your time. It would be awful to screw it up with a fall or strain this early in the game.

Slowed but undaunted! We are the BoneSmart (international) Warriors:yes!:

Sissy, how's your weather? I see lots of warnings, looks like it could be a rough
day for some?

There were tornadoes in Volusia County yesterday, but it didn't even rain much where I live, 20 or 30 miles away. More of the same expected today and tomorrow. Some friends and I are going up to Ocala National Forest to paddle the Ochlawaha River and the Silver River, so I hope it clears up by Thursday morning.

It rained like crazy at my house last night. We were under a tornado watch in my area. Who would have ever guessed a tornado warning in December. Temperature is in the mid-80's and beautiful.

We cancelled our trip and it didn't even rain today. I'm hoping for rain tomorrow to bring the Econlockhatchee River up. We're paddling there on Thursday.

ok ok, you don't have to rub it in.
had a dusting of snow overnite, but so far it looks like last winter, pretty snowless,
good for driving and not having to remove it, but bad for winter businesses, like
ski hills etc.

went to the gym today again, did the leg exercise machines, i have to admit
i feel stronger, am adding weight every few times i go, so i should stop complaining.
then did 20 mins on the bike, level 6, so that felt pretty good, and my heartrate
was fairly low during that, so i'm not really pushing myself, but i'm gaining stamina
and some endurance.
hmmm
maybe back to that rink soon........................

That's great Dutch. It is really something how much stamina, endurance and strength you lose in just a short time. Just remember, it takes twice as long to put the muscle back on as it did to come off. Slow and steady my friend.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO REMIND ME OF THAT TAMMY!!!
:gaah:

Someone has to Dutch. Don't want you to get discouraged if your muscles don't start bulging by next week.

ah you found it!!!
i looked quick but you beat me to it!!

8 weeks today, and i'm back at work. so far so good, i think i will be tired by days end.
things are going ok, have a little pain in my right hip that has been there for more than a week
now, just going to watch it and see how it goes i guess. i have been able to get to the gym
3 times a week for the past 2 weeks, that is going well, working on building leg strength
and riding the bike. had a party to go to Saturday nite, at a friend/neighbor's house, SO
was with me, so i had a DD with me, had a few beers and shots of his caraway flavored
vodka type of drink.... YUMMY! overall i did fine, was a little tired by nite's end, but i slept
pretty well! it did suck getting up for work this am though, i had been sleeping in every morning
till about 8-8:30, had to get up at 7 today.
i am noticing my leg strength coming along, yesterday there was a b'day party for SO's
grandson (2) and it was held at a local fire dept party room upstairs at their firehouse,
opened the door and there was this huge stairway, a bit taller steps then normal, and
not very deep, but up i went, with casserole and gifts in my arms, so i wasn't able to use the
railing, no problem! that made me feel good! i am finding stairs to be no problem now, not that
they have been, but they are getting easier.
i have not skated since last wednesday, will have to try to find time on weekends now that
i'm back to work. maybe this issue in the right hip will settle down.

Maybe a little pole dancing?:spin:
You are doing really great. You folks with two new hips just amaze me.

thanks sissy
now onto my next project,
have scheduled my foot surgery for wednesday, so it gets done this year for insurance reasons,
and i want this thing fixed now so i can just get on with life!
outpatient procedure, to repair "morton's neuroma", which is a swelling
of a nerve between my toes in my foot. a few days in a boot, and should be
good as new!

Had my foot surgery today, outpatient, in and out. Home now, 5 PM, talked with
the doc about the nerve block, he said about 6 hrs. So, I am just hanging out now,
foot up, watching TV, waiting a bit more and i'll take a pain med and see how bad it gets.
I remember this happening when I had arthroscopic knee surgery 6 or 7 years ago,
in the middle of the nite HOLY COW did it hurt! I hadn't taken any pain med that time,
but this time i will be prepared! going to take something soon here, and see how it goes,
hopefully later i can manage with what i have here in pain meds. He told my mom
(who drove me today) that he removed a nasty ugly piece of nerve, so hopefully
this too will heal up quick and i can get going with the rest of my recovery! That will
mean I shouldn't get to be in so much pain at the end of a shopping trip, not sure if
that is good or not!!
hip wise things are good, been back to work this week (half day today due to this
procedure) and expect to go back tomorrow with this walking boot on over my
foot bandages. I can sit there with my foot up at work for most of the day. If it's tooo
bad, i'll head home and try again Friday.
