THR Bickypeg's new hip

Hopefully you've found some relief since you've last posted, bickeypeg.
With any luck your weekend is off to a good start. Possibly engaging in some of your favorite... family time?
Please leave us an update next time you stop by, it's always nice to hear from you.
Have a great weekend!
@bickypeg

:hi: I too am hoping things are better for you.
Hope you are having a happy weekend. :SUNsmile:

Nice encouraging messages to come back to @Barbaraj @Hoppy Nanny @Fit4Family @Layla @SurreyGirl and co. Thank you. And @Mojo333 brilliant - I'll certainly give these exercises a go. Son's girlfriend is dance captain on the Joseph tour so they were very familiar to her and she showed me how to do them properly. Still too nervous to try!
Holiday was mostly lovely - Northumberland is so beautiful- but of course I overdid it again on the second day and really had to restrict outings and visits to the beach etc. Had moments of great joy at being back there and with all my treasures but also moments of great gloom and anxiety, feeling I'll never be right. Fed up of popping pills and feeling disabled and isolated again. But I'll plod on and usually feel much better by the end of the day. The ibuprofen definitely helps but it's not instant. By the way does anyone else have these startling mood swings? Post surgical, old age or just my personality now?
I'll try the CBD oil and lemon balm tea (by the way it tastes revolting when dried! But pleasant when fresh) And I try hard to remember to tighten my glutes...
Photos : felt rather special when landed on by a Painted Lady! Never seen one before. More worried by my enormous girth! That dress is going to the charity shop!

Beautiful family!!!! @bickypeg

I am so sorry you are still struggling. Boy can I relate to the blue feeling of is this the new normal? I really hope you can get to the bottom of what is causing your pain.

I have been taking the CBD oil for 1 week. Seems to help most with bringing a sense of calm. Not a drug feeling. More like zen after a good workout. Limited relief from pain. On the fence if it helps with swelling. At first it really seemed to help, but now I am thinking it might have been cooler temperatures early in the week. My leg really complains with high humidity and heat. Knee especially. Trying a new massage place this week. Will report back if it works.

Found some new walking sandals that I really like. Don’t know if you have the brand there. ABEO biosystem. I have Bea. Cork bed, very cool on feet, very adjustable. The Walking Store in states.

Sending hugs :console2: xx Sarah

Hi, there, @bickypeg. Nice to read you had good holiday for the most part. Great photos--and you don't look huge in that dress! You look like you're striding along fairly easily, holding a little's hand and her nice grin shows she's happy to be there, too. Sure, maybe you overdid it a bit the second day, but with rest and perhaps some medication (and large dose of patience) you'll recover. Maybe recovery is taking longer than you'd like, but it is what it is and we all struggle with feeling impatient and this impatience and frustration might be contributing to the mood swings. Just hang in there! Remind yourself it's a process and despite how long it's taken, look at how far you've come since surgery.

And thanks for the note that fresh lemon balm might work for tea; it is overrunning parts of my garden (as I've not been out there ruthlessly ripping it out at the edges lately--it's such a bully plant) and I can certainly dump a bunch in a pot and run boiling water on it and allow it to steep. That's what I need to do, right?

Thanks for your support dear @Barbaraj much appreciated as always. That's what I do with the lemon balm. And leave it in as you drink. Much nicer than camomile. (Great in Pimms too if you imbibe) I really need to lose weight though - never been so heavy and it's more for the poor joints and muscles to carry around.
Quite by chance saw @Cassidy 's posts - horribly familiar. So much information about what not to do post op like 90° bending, sleeping on op side etc but nothing much about living sensibly in the months following. I'd be lost without this forum. And I think we all tend to come from a stiff upper lip generation, not burdening family and friends with health problems. Strange as we were all flower children to some extent...

Aww, bickypeg...I love the photos of you and your family. Such a happy looking bunch.
I know that's when you're at your best, so very glad to see you enjoying. You look fine in your dress and it doesn't need to be donated, silly goose! :heehee:

As far as the mood swings, if you're anxious about any aspect of your recovery it will affect your mood.
It's only been a tad over one year since Hip One and not quite six months since your second. You've read here many times it can take a full year, even longer, so I really think you need to cut yourself some slack and just keep on, keeping on. You'll get there!

I hope you're having a great Sunday and wishing you a lovely week to come. :)
@bickypeg

Hi there, @bickypeg I will definitely give lemon balm tea a shot, although in this warm weather I am not sure a cup of hot tea would be that tasty. But, I wonder if you could make hot tea, cool it and make iced lemon balm tea. That might be tasty! And I'd definitely try it in Pimm's cup! I love a good cocktail.

I agree with you about ours being a "stiff upper lip" generation, and we probably do try to take on too much sometimes and it's hard to ask for help. We're focused on being there for others sometimes, and forget that others want to be there for us, both physically and emotionally. Sure, we don't want to be whiny burdens on our friends and family but there is a happy medium. I'm glad you've got the forum where whining is ALWAYS allowed and there are tons of sympathetic listeners eager to provide support and encouragement. But I am betting your family and friends can be good listeners, too. Remember, they know and love you, and it's clear that you've been there for them--let them return the favor!

In the meantime, it's a new week and another day down the recovery trail. Hope today goes well, and we'll all be interested in whether the CBD product provides some relief. Lots of folks seem to swear by it, so I hope you'll be able to join that enthusiastic chorus.

Oh my stars @bickypeg
Your family is so beautiful and you do look so healthy and pretty.:loveshwr:

I hope all keeps getting better and better...
Healing hugs:friends:

Feeling much perkier today (absolutely no reason for it @Barbaraj just another irrational mood swing but this one I can enjoy).
Been trawling around Google for ages for helpful tips on my aches, pains and general lack of mobility then found a powerpoint ,strangely enough from my local hospital, which made more sense than anything else I've read and was couched in simple terms with, best of all, some very easy exercises. Even I can stand on one leg...And Lateral Hip Pain is so nice and easy to say.Trochanteric bursitis does not roll off the tongue...
I'll post some of it - hope it's not contradicting anything else on here but others might find it helpful? Sorry there's such a lot of it.

Good day, @bickypeg You don't need a reason for feeling better, just happy to read that this is the case. And maybe the exercises you've posted, if you try them out regularly, will provide relief--for you and for others who might be struggling. My view is that there are all kinds of possible "fixes" out there that might be helpful and sometimes it pays to give different things a try to see what works best. I've seen exercises, massage, TENS units, etc. suggested as options that might be helpful as we're all lurching down the recovery road. Hope the more cheerful mood lasts for awhile--savor it!

:hi:
It's wonderful you're feeling more upbeat, bickeypeg. I hope you find some relief from your aches and pains through the exercises and consequently your mobility improves. I do realize we can suffer issues on the road to recovery, but please don't lose sight of where you are in the process. There's still time and room for improvement. It doesn't make your pain any less but offers hope. Keep on keeping on, you'll get there.
Warm wishes for a wonderful rest of the day!
@bickypeg

It cheered me greatly @linette333 especially as so much I found on Google on the topic was so depressing and/or very medical. It just made sense. Seeing a new physio today and hoping she' ll give me some pointers on moving forward and exercising without exacerbating it again. I have felt better these last few days but only because I've done so little and am taking the ibuprofen. I hate sitting about!

Hope all starts to move forward again for you soon @bickypeg. It's just so discouraging, isn't it? I am trying to cut down the painkillers, so I really don't want to be back on them! I too am seeing a physio next week - hoping for some answers!
