Richard, I can just picture you now--laid back in your recliner in front of telly, elevating and icing, with large grin on your face! Good for your knee and good for your soul!!! Enjoy!

Not posted on here for a while to busy reading others and poking my nose in.I think things are looking up had a couple of days sunshine none today though.Still having trouble trying to ride indoor bike but back swimming been twice this week swam 8 leangth today and i feel great.Hopefully swelling is under control now had walk down village and swimming today and no swelling but going to rest now with ice .If i can find sleep cure might have cracked it ,and i am also now taking my turn at making breakfast in bed can manage stairs carrying tray ,sometimes i feel sorry for working people only glad i let someone younger take my place.Might even have a rum with my rest can put glass on top of ice so i dont water it down.

Hey Richard, I notice in reetpteet's thread you said your daughter lives near Brighton. I just wondered whereabouts. We're down there for the weekend this week. My son and his fiance used to live in Brighton (which is where Alice was born and bred) but found it too expensive, so moved to Lancing, but now live in Portslade. I love it down there and could easily live there

hi im back had to buy new computer, been to physio today she is happy i am now 0 and 100 i would like to get more bend but might come later. On a good note after physio went swimming swam 20 leanghts in 30 mins and treaded water bending knee so only another 20 more and will be back to normal .then went on bike and rode 5 miles and knee is still same size.Going for bike ride tommorow think i will stick to short one, must ask surgeon if they have iinvented a plastic knee joint yet dont think much of steel surprised how heavy still feels when swimming .Only 2 more weeks and i will be able to drive again.Does anyone know how you get wrong size knee joint put in 3 people at swimming have had this 1 is still in rehab he says 3 years after having both knees tkr because of having wrong size put in first and still has more pain than before what makes it wrong size none of them new they were just told wrong size put in and had changed.Going to rest now

Hi Richard. Am soooo impressed with your swimming & cycling, you must be a real fitbod! I couldn't do 20 lengths or 10 miles at any time so I am in awe. Keep up the good work. :thumb:

not been on here lately but i have decided i am not ready for bike rides yet .Have been on 30 mile rides and tried 8 mile rides and in between, but i can walk 3 mile swim 40 leangth no problem but ride bike and i am done for next 2 days even using exercise bike or traineri think i must have to build more streangth in leg first. It is going to be hard but got to try going to spain next week try to gets lots of swimming and walking in see how i am when back home dont want to lose biking but maybe.

You can get the wrong size tibial or femoral implant---mainly because the surgeon is inexperienced or incompetent. That is why it is so important to find a surgeon who does 300 knees a year---then, he knows what size will work.

found an internet at last.in torremolinos now swimming in sea does wonders for knee 35 degree heat plenty of tapas bars to walk to.walked from benalmedena to torremelinos along coast ,this is the longest walk i have done for years knee works fine only stopped at 3 bars pity didnt take trunks could have had a swim .only down side cant find abike hirs shop with road bikes to go for a ride.thought the heat would make knee swell but does not seem to bad pleny of knee bends in pool and sea .hope lottery has come up when get home will fly straight back had lovely bus trip into mountains visit el chorro dam great colour the water fish nearly as big as sharks well must get on sea calling and bars bye everyone for now

So glad your hol is/was good. Just got back from France today, first wet day in 4 weeks! Knee OK - took it down a water slide! :yay: Still be glad when it doesn't feel 'alien' tho!

finally away in caravan had to drive for 7 hours m25 slow then m23 closed for 2 junctions .leg swelled up a bit not as much as i thought it would.Today bad day went for a walk with rucksack on by the time got back and walking on rough ground felt like getting a hacksaw and doing my own surgery, but wife said its my own fault doing to much but what is to much after 4 months plus it was one of our rare fine days.Seeing grandkids tommorow that will make things better.

Glad to hear you're enjoying yourself. Remember that 4 months really isn't that long after surgery. "Recovery" can take a year or more. So it is definitely possible to overdo things still. You'll know because you will have pain and/or swelling afterwards. That's your cue to slow down for a few days and baby the knee until it gets back on track again.

English roads!!!!! Glad you've got away - not sure about the hacksaw idea though! Take it easy, you don't have to do everything at onece (although I know the feeling of cashing in on a rare sunny day!) Enjoy your caravan & your grandchildren, take care.

Back from trip very wet (if win lottery moving us all where sun shines).Had some good walks mostly 7 miles before op i did 1 mile a week now i manage 7 twice a week and i am swimming 3 times a week 40 leangths each time.I have left bike alone but weather permiting will try out this week,i think i have just turned a small corner on recovery.Exercising is easier have started using rubber strap with handles to pull leg back and straighten out keeps pressure on but seems to help me.Kneeling down to play with grandkids not very good but worth it .We have lots of steps and even going down a lot better begining to think good things of my knee now.

Have I got this right? You are walking 7 miles twice a week & swimming 40 lengths 3 times a week? Am soooo impressed, well done you. I did a Zumba class last week - very gently!
