What he says he does not like about tkr is the side effects that can happen.According to him this is the only operation you can have that has more chance of side effects that can outweigh having tkr.I am just happy to show it works for me got my life back,i even told him that due to this i stopped work while he is still working at his age ,afraid he did not like this but tough luck.

Heck, by not having TKR the side effects are worse, I think! Bad knees equals bad back, bad hips and a chance of being wheelchair bond for the rest of our lives for some of us, and also the biggy for me, you stop living because it's just to darn painful! What I realized was that I was not only effecting me, I was effecting my hubbies life as well, we weren't traveling, no vacations, no museums, no movies, we just stayed home all the time! Now those are really bad side effects! I am glad I did it, as you are too! Yay Us!:friends:

4 year ago on x ray right leg bone on bone but had no pain or problems left leg very bad but not on x ray still had some cartilage. After having ltkr was advised by surgeon see how it goes now 10 months gone left leg works but feels odd right knee would gladly take saw to myself, have pain less mobility apart from bike riding and living on a hill is agony, so got to have some serious thoughts move or knife.

Yes ouch either having to move on flat or knife do not know which will be worst one painful other painful in wallet.

or both? We share the same hx - my right knee is completely knackered but at the moment isn't giving me grief. The (slightly) less knackered left one needed replacing first - funny old world of knees! When you say my TKR works but feels 'odd' I know JUST what you mean, caan't explain it to anyone who hasn't had one.

Hope your right knee behaves its self if not give it or her a good telling off.The odd feeling i dont even know how to explain it to my self,if i put a new part on my bikes or car it works no ifs or buts unless it is second hand part then may need tinkering with my part is supposed to be new ?.

Hi everyone not posted on my own for a while to busy reading others.Today sun out going to hit 20c i have got my Big Mig shirt at last searched internet for years for one my size might give me ispiration to lose a few pounds.Going out on bike no matter what, managed a 30.5 mile ride only problem is knee works fine but my leg is still to long to use clips so given up on them.Does anyone else have problems know leg is straight can only think if and when i have other knee done i will have 2 straight legs.I am hoping spring has finally arrived great ride today sun out Yello and Kraftwerk blasting out of mp3 me with big silly grin on bike [Bonesmart.org] Back home LTKR 30 May [Bonesmart.org] Back home LTKR 30 May

I'm glad you finally got out to enjoy the sun and a bike ride! By the looks of your pictures you really did enjoy it! Hopefully spring sticks around for you!

The shirt is quite fetching---you look like a cyclist to me!!

I am happy for you---April 20th and we almost had a 1/2 inch of snow this AM. I am looking forward to some cycling weather---I am glad that you had it!

Rich, forget about move OR have right knee done, I thought the same thing, so we moved all on one floor and no hills, guess what I still had to get both done! So my friend, there is no way around it, you will need it done anyway! I too would have gladly cut my own legs off, the pain was so bad! So if you like your home stay, and get your knee done, if you want to move, then move then get your knee done! You'll love yourself for it! :thumb:

Yes, the shirt does it, you do look like a professional bicyclist.
Over 30 miles, very impressive!

Jacky my wife agrees with you and so do i the hill is one thing.but the view is worth it our neighbours are like ghosts hardly see them or hear them,no one overlooks us and i can play my music in garage as loud as i want(not allowed in house) wife says i have odd tastes in music.
Referee i feel for you our snow has finally gone, last week end still plenty at side of roads but still have lots of water ,yesterday out on bike and some lanes were still flooded 1 was even closed, and today is gloves and scarves again some of reporters on London marathon were dressed for winter.
Wife still thinks i am a bit cracked wearing shirt but Miguel Indurain i think was one of the best cyclists ever, and i have always wanted a Banesto shirt to fit me when ever we go to Spain i always go round bike shops looking and on e bay.

Out on bike today usually it has been swimming on mondays but now weather picking up bikes out,i thought i had lost some strength in my knee over winter but swimming and indoor must have done me good.Very windy out turned back after 11 mile but even Appy Hill Lane which is not usually happy for me,it is 3 mile all slightly up hill and exposed to wind even that was easier today (i think it is my new shirt) added inspiration,so managed 21 mile.Hoping to go out Wednesday and try for 40/50 my wife is off dancing all day in Lincoln so have all day.Doubts about surgery all gone now.Good news daughter just rang wants us to go to Spain in June quick week end break,Retirement is the best ever why did i go to work.

Love your photos. You look so healthy. Not someone with a TKR and maybe needing another one. Glad to hear you conquered Appy Hill better. And a weekend away to look forward to. Great. And the weathers getting better too. Good but hubby will now be working longer hours as a landscape gardner so will be on my own longer but maybe thats a good thing for my knee. Been a long recovery but things are looking up. Like you i dont want to think about the second knee just yet. Keep on enjoying your cycling. Take care.

Not far of 12 months now and to be honest i never thought i would get here,i think i will always now i have metal knee(a lot of times i thought they had recycled one or put an old rusty joint in).It will never feel same as old knee but old knee was rubbish anyway, and never thought i would say this but would i have other done YES but not yet.We have had a great week end Saturday went on bike ride Sunday had a long walk and my wife says that distance looks like no bother for me now,Monday wife dancing i have just finished 40 mile ride in 2hrs 35 mins.Sat here with coffee tired but feel i could ride down to Newhaven again i did this before tkr 268 mile to my daughters, might consider this after coming back from Spain before we go away for summer or definatley next year.To all who think like i did what have we done just relax take each day as it comes and Hopefully you will get there,Retirement might have helped i am just glad i did not have to go to work,i must be only ex miner who would thank Maggie Thatcher for shutting pits and giving me enough of a pension to enjoy life.
