Hang in there Julie! I know it's hard when you want to move and can't. Just take things slow and steady.

One day you can't do it and then bam -- you realize you can. Weak muscles finally decide to work.

Take care!

Julie--just read through and am so sorry you have had such a time of it. Soon--and sooner--you will back--I can't imagine your disappointment after the first one went well. Gosh--we just can't get complacent and have to remember this is a big deal! Hugs--:cat-kittyandsmiley:

Julie

You sure are having a hard time of it but keep taking they meds day and night and hopefully that will help with the pain.
You know the script from the RTHR you have to take things one day at a time.

Thanks everyone !! It's been quite an ordeal this time. I was prepared for it being different/harder but not like this. I did have PT yesterday and she said I'm so tight everywhere from buttocks to coax to everything in thigh. I was going to start my day today with sitting for a longer period to stretch the thigh out and do my leg lifts (the little I can) but when I got to bathroom and started to get myself cleaned up I had a sudden wave of nasseau. Felt the need to throw up so sat back on toilet and boyfriend got me a wet rag for my neck and the puke bucket. I only gagged some and nothing came up so I decided to sit back in recliner first today and take it easy first.

I think a call into OS today is needed because the Norco I take for pain meds don't work really and I may need something as well for my queezy feeling.

Sorry you are feeling so rough today Julie. Good idea to call your OS - or maybe your GP. Sounds like you need your med tweeked a bit and certainly something for the nausea.

Hope you feel better soon!

I came across one of your posts in the August 2011 pre-ops - just read your story. My thoughts are with you and I hope you are feeling better soon

Well I got some naps in today and OS office called and they called in something for nausea and then tried calling in pain med but said script had to be picked up so now I have to wait till tomorrow since they are 1/2 hour away and I couldn't get anyone there in time. He did prescribe Dilaudid so hopefully that will help me a lot better than the Norco.

I'm trying to get exercises in as well, but it's hard when I'm so stiff and sore. My OS pushes hard concerning this but this time he's going to have to back off. I will be so glad when I can move a little bit more because it's so hard in bed when I'm right on my back all night long and can barely budge.

One day at a time though, right !!

My OS is so different in that he does not want me doing exercises until I am 6 weeks post op! I can related to sitting in one position all night and sweating too :secretaea: its the pitts!

You are right, one day at a time that is my mantra too - its all we got right now I guess :sigh:

Hope you get a good nights sleep and get the new meds in the morning - they should help :thumb:

xoxo,
Linda

Julie....did you get that new prescription? How are you doing today????

Yes I did Jamie. I got Dilaudid and Phenergan. I woke up this morning nauseas and acid reflux. I took a Pepcid and this afternoon got the other meds and took those. Seems to help, but sure does make me sleepy....

Hopefully I'll get more movement soon and things will start improving.

Thanks !!

Well just like NYLiz posted, today starts that first day that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel !! :yes 4:

It's my first day I have woken not feeling like dog poopie. LOL The new meds have helped, except for the added acid reflux which I now am taking Pepcid for as well.

PT was here yesterday and she said she's seen a big improvement from when she was here earlier in the week. Her goal is for me to be on a cane after my doctor visit next Thursday.

I took first shower today and that was great. Still need to have legs shaven. Hmmmm who will I get to do that? :skeptical:

Did all my exercises when I first got up and then showered and now I'll sit and relax a bit before I do them all again at lunch time. I have a goal you see, my boyfriend and I had planned months ago to take vacation first of September. Still may not make it then, maybe later in the month like my b'day on 9/20 but I'm pushing for that goal. It's been a tough year on him as well and we deserve a little downtime. Donna (Pomperson) hopefully you'll be in a good recovery mode at that time so we can maybe meet up for dinner. Won't that be fun, both of us with 2 new hips. :dancy:

ABSOLUTELY!! I'll be just about a month out from surgery by then. Sorry took so long for my response (for some reason I don't get notified of messages for days on here. I'm sure it's user error or how I set it up)

Btw, I'm so glad you no longer feel like dog poopie!!!

I just started my 10 day countdown this morning!!!

Be sure you have selected "instant notification" in your subscription area on your "User Control Panel".

Go into your User Control Panel and on the left side select "Edit Options" in the Settings and Options area. Scroll down to Messages and Notification. You will see an area called Default Subscription and Notification Mode. Select "Instant email notification". This option means you will get instant notice if someone posts after you have posted or started a thread.

Be warned though - if you don't visit the thread again you won't continue to get notification.

Hope this helps!

Donna I know your count down is beginning and I'm sooooo excited for you !! I sure hope all works out and we can see each other in September for our hippy reunion.

Well it's 2 weeks tomorrow and I'm not sure what to think. I know when I go to OS on Thursday he'll have his opinion and that opinion will be I need to be more aggressive, need to be moving better, need to be doing this, need to be doing that. UGH.

The issue I have right now is that I'm not sure with during my PT at home, but in my upper thigh in front, when I get up in standing position and straighten the leg out, I have a god awful burn that if feels like fire. It feels like a muscle is just tearing and burning when it's stretched straight? Was this caused in doing an exercise? I'm still very sore in the butt bone area and right below that in the upper back thigh going in towards groin.

Still using walker, still can't bear full weight on that leg and with Anterior Approach I know I should be able to do that and he'll make sure to tell me I SHOULD be doing it, but I can't.

My new meds have all helped, no longer nauseas or have acid reflux and have regular BM's now. Swelling isn't bad, nothing in lower portion of leg at all, thigh not that much, just warm around incision area. Possibly about 1/2 inch LLD.

Well that's my latest report, I'm looking forward to getting more mobile soon. :dancy:

Julie I certainly think you are doing very well. Consider what you have been through - 2 major surgeries and a dislocation on your last one. Of course you are sore. Everything needs to settle. Muscles were stretched and moved during surgery - they are still complaining.

Be firm with your OS. You are doing what you can. It sometimes takes longer. We say over and over - there is no time table for recovery. Please don't be discouraged.

:dancy:

Julie - I got my nieces to do this for me. I have a really good electric razor and they thought it was 'cool' to shave Aunt Liz's legs

Thanks Jaycey and yes I'm going to be firm with him this time. My right side feels very good which I'm thrilled with and like you said, it's been 2 major surgeries in a short period of time and this last one with complications.

I still want to get to the bottom of how the dislocation really happened, but then again, what will that do? I feel that as I was told that it has NEVER happened there before and I was the first and then a man after me on same morning then someone on the team didn't do something right and if that is the case I think the hospital needs to be made aware and have those individuals talked to. Am I going overboard about this or not? :skeptical:

Liz, what a great idea...... I can just see them now while you are lounging in a recliner relaxing and your little nieces fighting over who's turn it is. :hysterical:
