Hello October Feisty Friends! I was originally scheduled to have my Left Knee Replacement on August 27, but the discovery of multiple metal allergies threw a wrench into that plan. I found out yesterday that my new date will be Monday, October 15. I'm ahead of the game in some ways, with my "hospital suitcase" already packed (kind of like before having a baby) and most of my post-op supplies (i.e., heavy duty ice packs, elevating pillow, grabber, long handled shoe horn, etc.) already in stock. My friend who lives next door had her TKR in early May, so she has kindly lent me her commode and shower chair. I've heard different reports from friends about whether or not those two items will be needed, but since I didn't have to purchase them, I'm glad to have them here and ready just in case they can be helpful.
@beachy, it looks like we will now be going through this journey at pretty close to the same time! Especially since there have been other changes in my surgery plans, I have no way to know that these latest details will be the way things actually happen. However, when I received this most recent "new" date, I was also told that my surgeon is planning a PKR. That PKR vs. TKR had been one of the unknowns until now, which means there's some added comfort knowing that he has made a decision about how best to repair my knee.
Thank you to the group administrator for adding me to this October group and also for updating my signature to reflect the Oct. 15, 2018 surgery date!
