@BusterBeans i think your idea of bringing a treat in for the surgical staff is wonderful. I think they may get fewer thank you gifts that some of the other settings, so would be surprised and touched by your thoughtfullness. I had been thinking of doing something, but was so totally focused with the last week crazies that i forgot! So thanks for the reminder!!

I have brought forward this month's list so that you can easily see who your surgical buddies are.

Welcome to our latest and all October Feisties!

Thanks for the feedback. Will bake the cookies for the staff. This morning baked cherry mini cheesecakes and pumpkin fudge for VFW bake sale and a key lime pie for next door neighbors who are so kind. As long as I don't eat any...
Boy, am I missing my probiotic! It always kept me regular but the nurse said it was a supplement and had to go. They told me to switch to Miralax. Oh my! Have been taking Immodium but it hasn't helped. Will go talk to the pharmacist when the rain lets up.

@BusterBeans if I could still bake yummy things like you are doing I wouldn't have the surgery. I am a cake decorator and miss it and baking so much but standing in the kitchen sets me off.
Immodium is for diarrhea and Dr. suggested Miralax? Isn't it a laxative? In other words you are not backed up but having to go too often...right? :chinstroke:

@Glamg, I was advised to take Miralax every day to replace my probiotic but it triggered 5 days of diarrhea and intestinal upset. I took multiple doses of Immodium to regain control but was afraid I might have to reschedule next week's surgery. As of tonight I seem to be ok. But 5 days of stress! Miralax is not a substitute for a probiotic.

@knee2: Best wishes for your successful surgery and recovery. You are "kicking off" a big week for us! Please let us know how well you're doing.

@JustmeT - I am definitely anxious! I feel like I am about to go into a big black hole where I won't know anything that is going on and will be completely dependent on others for all kinds of things, including the most personal. As a cancer survivor (twice) (knock on wood and spit three times), I've had really serious surgeries and never was as anxious. I've also been really weepy, which is totally bizarre for me.

Wishing you the very best, @knee2. Hope your surgery is uneventful, and the same for your recovery. Looking forward to hearing how you're doing.
Julie

Wow, things keep rolling along toward surgery day on Wednesday. Did my first scrub last night. Scrubbing each knee for 3 minutes while upside down was a chore. Tonight am moving shower chair in. And they tell you to use 1/3 of the bottle each night but put it in a thick plastic bottle that you can't see or feel through. I didn't get much suds after doing both knees so will squirt out the remainder tonight and measure half to use.

Physical therapy called to set up my first home session for noon on Saturday. They said the first visit is to make sure I'm elevating, icing and medicating correctly, look at my knees and go over a few basic things I can start working on at home. They will then be back on Monday. And they said my OS was one of the very, very, very best around. It was comforting because the practice is a large one with several knee specialists who friends said I should have chosen, but I really liked this OS more than them because he spent so much time over the past 3 years explaining everything, asking me if I had any questions and then watching me to see if I did. So he'll probably be doing my hip replacement next year.

Hi @BusterBeans - You sound ready! So many little things to do before surgery, and I'm glad of it... keeps me from going crazy. Best of luck to you on Wednesday!

@JustmeT @Scheherazade I have been a bundle of nerves and crying a time or two but now am feeling much calmer and ready to go. Had all my pre op testing and teaching today. Everything is a go except when I went to registration to get pre admitted and our insurance pre- certification said our policy was inactive!
Yikes!! My husband left his job last month and COBRA has not received our 1st premium payment. If I can't get it straightened out by Thursday my surgery will be put on hold. I am mentally and emotionally ready and dread a postponement. Now I understand how it must be for an athlete to get psyched up for a competition and it is canceled or postponed. :headbang:

Hi all, My surgery was suppose to be tomorrow. The docs office called and said I had to be rescheduled to Monday. Now I have to go through 6 more days of nerves. So My surgery will be Oct. 12 th.

Hi @cowchick,
Sorry to hear about your postponement. It's so frustrating! I was supposed to have surgery in Sept, and it got postponed for 5 weeks. Now I'm the day after you, so you're in good company, and hopefully the week will go by quickly.

My surgery is set for Oct 27th. I am having a total replacement of my left knee. There is a lot I need to do before then.
