* Bedpan story is in Fernies first message on this thread :)

Ladies, you are funny, not so much of a bedpan story, just my flat refusal to use one barely 6 hours out of surgery! Basically, gave myself a good shot of morphine, grab the monkey bar over my bed and with the help of the nurse hauled my poor legs out of bed , sick bowl in one hand, I could hardly focus but I needed a pee and women and bed pans just don't agree ! Looking back now, it was quite an accomplishment! :dancy:

Hi toothfairy , sorry to hear things are not good at work, you don need that. Sounds much more fun to focus on getting your en suite done instead

Im standing in the bath, don't need seat. When u work out hw to get in and out its ok. Also managed in and out of car ok as well, as I was concerned about that .

Also got more pillows and rolled up a sleeping bag to make a nice flat shape for elevating in bed at night, worked great although overall didnt sleep that well last night.

Still feeling bit sicky but I can't face muchfood at mo. have a good day everyone.

Thanks for all your lovely messages.

Welcome home,
I must say I am with you on the bedpan, just does not do it. I will let you know how I feel about that in about 8 days :snork: but you are correct, I applaud you for your determination.
You've accomplished so much in these few days, give yourself a pat on the back. Bravo!
Glad you are home, take care, rest,
And don't forget the ice

What a hectic day, combinations of ... Rest, sleep, ice, elevating, few nibbles and drinks, gentle stretches
.

Fernies been loving doing nothing.. And looking forward to more of the same tomorrow.

Hi Fernie, glad to hear you are taking it easy.
Have a good day,
Off to work shortly, will have a good day today ( positive thinking at its best.)
Well check back this evening,
Toothfairy x
:yay: :friends:

Hello toothfairy , I hope you have a good day at work and your knee behaves as well.

my  Is back big time and I'm not feeling so good. Fortunately the hosp called to check on me earlier and they suggested I drop the ibrophofemn and swap 1. X cocodomol for a normal paracetamol each time and take max nefrotam in between. Will try this but must keep good pain control up. I knew this woud be a problem post op. :boohoo:

Just sitting today, not even put Tv on. Need to go for a bimble soon and stretch this new knee of mine. The bruising has really started to come up now as well so legs are deep green and grey .

Cant believe I'm day 5 already. It feels like I'm living in a little bubble at the moment, one where I wear nice pyjamas :) All day!

Forget slimming world, I've not had a decent meal since Tuesday, although I'm sure appetite will return soon.

Take care, Fx :friends:

 Hi Ferne, I said your appetite might disappear. It does come back but a lot of people lose the weight for good which is nice. Enjoy being in your bubble. You really need the rest right now. How nice for the hospital to ring and see if you were ok. Mine didnt. Didnt hear from them till six week check up then discharged. Take it easy.

Hello pat, nice to hear from you. I'm feeling tired so lots of rest is on my agenda . The hosp have been truly great, got my first pt nx Thursday. Take care. Fx

Hi Fernie, I'm sorry to hear you have that darn nausea feeling, that really is the pits! :console2: Wearing nice PJ's while in a bubble give you a good feel though! :) I hope you get your appetite back soon, cause your body needs good protein to help build your strength back! Maybe you could keep down a protein drink of some sort!

I wish you a speedy recovery my BoneSmartie friend!

Hi jacky, I just dont know, only managed 3 bits toast so far today, one this morning and 2 just now to have with tabs. Had some nice fruit earlier but back it came . I feel quite weak but thought of protein isn't good right now. I've got some vitamin shakes but nurse said to keep off milk til Tum settles a bit.

I had a decent start afterlast week and now feeling but low and my knee s tight and I can't move it much.

Need to get y positive head back on :spin:. Take care

Your new knee is still very new and the swelling will be around for a while I'm afraid!:console2: I hope you are doing a lot of icing and elevating, also do ankle pumps, like you were pressing on a gas pedal, this will help with the blood flow and avoid blood clots.

I hope your tummy gets better soon!

Thanks, I find it hard to elevate as I've gotmanual reccliners so I've got 2 pillowS under my knee to try to straighten it a bit. Icing quite a bit but finding theexercises hardespecially the heel slides.

Im doing injections each day for blod clots but wiggle toes etc as well often. Sorry my grammar is shot! Blame the meds  :thankyou: For your replies, I appreciate it.

Aren't those meds wonderful though! :)

I know what you mean about the manual recliners, I also have manual recliners and I couldn't raise the foot part for a while so I got a small ottoman and put that in front of me and then put a few pillows on it, which helped keep my leg straight and elevated some.

Hello Fernie, chin up, you are doing an amazing job.
No wonder you are feeling low, nausea is horrid. I know it is hard to believe at the moment but it will pass and you will feel better soon.
Sending you two very special cheer up pills and a big hug.
Do you think you are getting enough pain relief ?
Rest, rest and rest, the first week is nearly over and you are moving onwards to better things.
Hang on in there, just one day at a time. Did you have any snow today? We had blizzards while I was at work, very pretty but it didn't lie. Take care and sleep well,
Toothfairy x :console2:

Good morning Fernie,
I hope you feel less nauseous today. :mcoffee: Sending you another hug and a well done for your brilliant progress so far. :yahoo:
I know you have hit a bump in the road but from reading other threads you know that you will pass over it.
Stay positive my friend and just settle back to stay as relaxed and comfortable as you can manage.
Big hugs and a hand to hold, off to work, I will catch up on your day later,
Toothfairy x
:egypdance: :console2:

Hello my friends, thanks for your messages. Quite tearful today actually, Constant, I'm dreading when it's time to take meds now. Will post again later. :)

:friends: Awwww Fernie sending you lots of hugs and hope you feel better soon. Not a lot we can say. weve all been through it and it will get better. Take Care :friends:

You poor love.
Could you or your husband phone hospital or doctor for advice?
Hope it eases soon. If our love and good wishes could make you better you would be cured.
Hang on, it WILL pass. Have a good cry, you have earned it x
Toothfairy x
