I saw the surgeon back in January he was pleased with my progress. Due to a change over in NHS physio provider the physio was sparodic and very delayed so I didn't bother with formal sessions just did the exercise on the sheets given. Despite that the improvement has been great, I have taken it...
So 5 days, remarkeably pain free with the medication, ibuprofen (otc) 4 x daily, and co-codamol at night. I'm icing the joint regularly about 4 times a day. The physio exercises have been fairly easy to do more of a slight discomfort from the pulling of stitches than pain. It's a relief that the...
Well after 6 years from my hips, I couldn’t stand the pain and not being able to do much with my shoulder. I have had decompression and AC joint resection. It’s a bit of a blur what they did apart from I know the rotator cuff was borderline so they have gone with hoping it will now heal rather...
All I can say is i love my hips, hardly give them a thought only when I fly and have to explain I have two replacements. Three years since my op and yes still improving range of movement. I still do some of the hip exercises as I find I can stiffen a bit if I neglect them.
Hello all, 2 years 5 months and going strong, came back from a 12 day dive trip in the Maldives dived a lot and no issues with the hips. A bit of a problem getting through Dubai I had to flash the scars as they wouldnt belive I had two hips done. After a small gap of erm several decades I got...
My hips healed at different rates I stopped comparing them, and they would swap around as well. Now two years since my hips were replaced I cant tell the difference.
The bladder will eventaulay settle down there seems to be an enormous amount of fluid you need to get rid off post op and a lot...
Well Im rapidly approaching my 2 year anniversary and I think my memory is going as It took a while for me to work out it was my hips setting off the airport scanner. I no longer feel I have bits of metal in me. I do pilates with ladies a lot younger and my ROM is better. Ive been very active...
I have forgotten that I had both done and Im a few weeks after you, I have had a few ups and downs along the way but the trend has always been improvement. My surgeon did say the full healing can be expected to take up to two years.
Dont try and compare your recovery with others as we all start from a different place and we all feel pain differently. If you need to take the pills take them if you need to use the walker or support use it. If you need a sleep take it. 15 months out its all still getting better today I climbed...
Hang on in there its a bit of a rolller coaster or a walk in a park sometimes the park is in a nice tranquil palce and sometimes its in a war zone. If your body aches or hurts then rest, ice, and take pain meds anti inflamatories, when you get that under control the stiffness will resolve.
Congrats and take it easy its not the hips but you that needs the TLC :). Just listen to your body and do as much or as little as you feel like and your soon be better than ever.
This was a sponsered Scuba Santa dive that I took part in to raise money for the RNLI. The water was warm for this time of year 9C or 48F same as the air temp.
