    Surgery scheduled---still undecided

Hola and welcome! I had asked a similar question to my dr about activity after BTHR and was basically told i could get back to my active life, but running or impact activities could shorten the implants life. currently i am well over 2 years out, and back to playing ice hockey twice a week...

Bi Lateral Hip Replacement done at once. Need advice.

HI @catdemar greetings from the right coast! a fellow BTHR here, 2012, and we all had to make that decision of when was it time. in my case, the news of needing THR was so devastating that I did all i could to delay surgery, including cancelling a scheduled single THR. but, it wasn't even a...

THR One hip done, one to go!

Gals it's been said "if it hurts, don't do it". My doc was that way, and i know it's different with me being a guy, but, there are gentle ways to try and see how it goes. don't expect a marathon and don't expect the earth to move, but, like everything else in recovery take it slow and rebuild...

Wow, Roseann, BTHR then Knee surgery, all within a couple months. And you are still in recovery, and will be for quite a while, yet you want to live your life! The hardest part of recovery can be the anxiety created because we think that now that we are fixed we can just go back to our lives...

    Hip resurfacing after arthroscopic surgery

Hi Carl, welcome! I'm a bit past recovery now and don't post here much, but i usually check in every once in a while to see how things are going. Your post caught my eye because you are facing bilateral surgeries, and I too had bilateral, although I had THR. My initial discussions with my OS...

Bilateral THR Tomorrow's the day for me

Good Luck today! I was in the same situation, BTHR late in the day, i think the dr wanted to have all of the easy cases done and saves the best for last! they do things fairly quickly, so you'll be up and awake later today, and may even feel good enough for something to eat! keep us posted...

    Question regarding prothesis

I think a lot of ceramic parts are combined with metal. I believe my stem is ceramic coated titanium. I'm not sure, but i don't remember seeing any implants without any metal. as far as airports, i have flown twice since mine were installed, and the only time i got pulled aside for a pat down...

Bilateral THR 15 hrs post op bilateral THRs

Jen sorry to hear about your friend, that's certainly not helping with everything you are going thru. as far as your PT and recovery, if i were to reiterate what has been said here many many times, i don't think the lack of PT is going to really harm anything, and many feel PT is not really...

    Bilateral THR Hippy Toonz

i went to work after 7 weeks off, so, i guess the start of the 8th week. desk job, quiet in december at work anyways, and got up often to stretch and walk a little. sure, it was tiring, but great to be out of the house. by then it was more of the stiffness and muscle aches than pain
