Wow, Z! That's awesome! I wouldn't even have thought to try some of those things (I'm more of a yoga/pilates gal), but after watching, I discovered I can also do most of that too. Was never good at agility even prior to hip probs. Thanks for the inspiration!

Zeeeeeee.....my goodness!!! I'm just now catching up to that fabulous video. You do moves that would make Fred Astaire jealous!!! It's so wonderful to see you getting back to that level of activity....and so soon too. Videos like that are inspiring for those who are worried about what their life will be like. You know...some people actually believe they will be stuck in a wheelchair after surgery! So keep the movie camera running!

Hi Z
I just had time to catch up on some of the posts and saw your video.
You are doing awesome. So, there is hope to be normal again.
I am glad you are doing so well and are able to have your life back.

Bea

Charlie,

Thank you for your concern, I am well thanks.

When the site lost a couple days of comments all the extremely witty posts I was formulating in my brain were suddenly moot. I had arranged to have a sweeper friend of numerous decades who backed me up as stopper and center mid who descibes himself as ".. a time served Englishman & Geordie " to respond to your disparaging comments around US Soccer, but alas..that is now moot.

As we had discussed in lost posts...I am still sore and afraid that I overdid it and frankly, was a bit concerned.

So I went to PT today and they gave a thorough checkup. Later, when they had me hopping down a 15 foot line on the floor on my repaired leg...from one side of the line to the other as I progressed down the line..and had me do that down and back 5 times...i decided that they were clearly not concerned.:hate-shocked:

They gave me a heck of a workout and I seem to have a groin strain that I need to be aware of.

So, Charlie...I am ok...and thank YOU for asking! :wink1:

Z

Z,

Beware those groin strains, they can be nasty. I had one years ago and it took a long time to heal...please take it easy so it doesn't get worse. We need you and Charlie in good shape for the video wars!

Hey Z,

Sorry to hear you over did things tutututututut!! Hopefully you can rest up for a couple of days and calm everything down and FEEL better!

xxooxx

That got me chuckling! I live in Geordie-land! So please give your friend this message from me
"Why-aye man, waas tha gannan? Diven ye miss wor yem?"

:loll: :loll:

At the risk of stirring up a hornets nest you should say to yer Geordie Mate, "charlie says what do Geordies know about football (your soccer) anyway???!! But stand back he might get a little animated!!:th_heehee:

Sorry to hear about the strain but you'll get that sorted soon I know it. The op leg hopping sounds awesome, I don't think I'll try that one just yet!

Charlie

Ouch Z! Those strains are little reminders, I do sympathize with you .

Thank you so much for the PM's by the way, really appreciate you drilling down through to OZ :) xx

Josephine, please could you translate?

Z you are one bionic man but your PT sounds like a sadist. That hopping on the operated leg? Well, I'm nothing if not competitive, and I thought, 'oh, I can do that'. Measured out 15 feet along the landing, started hopping. Got to 2 hops and collapsed! That'll teach me, won't it? Anyway, well done, and sorry about the groin strain. Take it easy for a bit, won't you?

Jane,

I am focused more on stretching at the moment and can now tell that things have calmed down a bit that it really is a BUNCH of muscles on my inner thigh and heading into my groin.

Thanks for the kind thots but I am hoping this can calm down soon so I can go back to the FUN exercises!!

Z

Yo Z!
Glad to see you're still setting the bar high. I'm a few weeks behind you but still making great progress. Yesterday at Day 51 I graduated from out-patient PT. I have to say I'm going to miss those workouts. One week from today (22-March) I go back to my surgeon for his review. I can relate to soreness after exertion, I'm usually sore two days after an intense PT session. I do this one exercise that's on a mini-trampoline (square in shape) with a rack of medicine balls (small to big, light to heavy) in front of me at waist high. Standing on one foot (replacement side), roll the balls across the rack, taking the left most ball placing it behind the right most ball. Shuffling all 5 balls counts as one rep. 5 reps to a set. At the end of that my "a$$" is killing me.

One question for you, are you able to get comfortable at night for sleep ? Night-time is still an issue for me. I no longer need mid-day naps to make it thru but by 10pm I'm physically worn out. However, the impending discomfort of lying in bed causes me to dread bedtime.

JD,

Sleeping and comfort in bed has not been an issue for me. "Lazing around", napping and just plain sleeping seems to be something that I'm really good at!! (GIFTED perhaps) I was sleeping on either side soon after the surgery.

So I am the wrong guy to compare notes with...but I do sure hear lots of folks who agree with you.

On the other hand, I *ache* during the day. Getting up out of a chair after sitting for an hour (or 2) feels like I ran 10 miles the day before (at least on my surgical side) I can loosen it up and get past it in a couple minutes, but those first few steps are "not limber".

Good luck with the night time aches.

Recently, when I told my Physical Therapist that he had beat the poop out of me on the prior visit and at one point I thought I might vomit his response (and he really is a great guy) was "you're welcome". He knows I want him to push me and his effort *IS* appreciated...

Josephine...Gerry JUST replied...

He said to offer...

" A miss the canny lads & lasses & a bit crack but a gan doon the club n canna ken what thr takin aboot nee more"

Posting this seems risky

I'm curious about how common this is among people who haven't had hip issues. I try to force myself to get up every half hour to avoid that feeling but I'm not very good about it. I know sitting for too long isn't good in general but it was never an issue before my hips went bad. I wonder if it something that will go away over time as the hip flexors calm down.

Your PT routine sounds awesome! Are you still doing underwater sessions?

Z, hope you don't mind my hijacking your thread for a moment to post this to Josephine:

Diolch. Nawr fi'n deall. Ma' dwy yn gallu chware'r gem yna!

She'll understand that as well as I understand Geordie!

hwyl fawr, Jane
