Thanks @Layla
Wow I can’t believe it’s been 2 months since surgery! So much has changed since my last update. At 7 weeks I got the all clear from my surgeon to start driving, lift all restrictions and start outpatient physio. I shaved my legs and cut my own toenails, although reaching my pinky toe on my op leg did require some maneuvering! Still need to work on my flexibility past 90°
Physio has been great, helping me to strengthen muscles in both legs and improve my gait. She’s given me exercises and stretches to do at home and I will see her again in one week. I’m using a cane for most of the day but can manage short walks indoors without it. I’ve started using the elliptical and that has helped with cardio - I’ve gained 10 lbs since surgery so I’m hoping that will come off now that I’m moving more. I closed all 3 activity rings on my Apple Watch which was a huge personal goal that I set for myself.
Navigating stairs has become easier too, I still revert back to toddler style when I’m tired (I live in a 3 storey home) but it’s a relief to know i can alternate steps again since I wasn’t able to do that for the past three and a half years.
The best part is that the joint pain is gone. I take Tylenol and Advil when needed, and still ice religiously but overall I feel great.
Thank you to the Bonesmart Community for all the support pre- and post-op, you’ve really helped me get through this journey!
Happy Four Month Anniversary!
