Hi 4MarinaPt I’m recovering from revision TKR 3rd week out from Surgery. Can’t sleep at the moment but just uncomfortable. My 1st TKR was in 2012, Then at the end of 2025 the post at the back of the plastic insert snapped off in the joint and made the knee unstable. Constantly dislocated. The plastic insert was replaced on the 20th of March. When I went back to see the surgeon I asked him how long it should last and he reckoned the repaired joint should see me out - I’m only 63 so yours should last the rest of your life. I have and will avoid any high impact exercise, I am doing my own exercises 2 sessions a day, back to driving as of yesterday: scouted out Ocean pools to do my own hydrotherapy next week. Did a 1.5 K walk the day before with no issues. Just taking Panadol 3 x 2 tablets a day. My pain level is acceptable 2 out of 10 most of the time - icing joint as much as I can with cryocast. My job requires lots of standing so only 3 weeks to prepare and get strong. How are you impacted with work Months out of surgery?
I know 6 weeks from surgery back to full time employment is a big task, but it seems to be possible with my recovery so far. I have Aqua therapy next Monday and Tuesday at rehabilitation centre: 6 sessions over the next 3 weeks. I went back to work with my 1st TKR after 10 weeks but it was a desk job and used the cryocast while sitting all day. Daily walks at lunch improved fitness and swam in pool before work as well. I’m sure you will meet your goals and know we all have our own individual path to recovery, this is no competition, we just need to take care of ourselves at a pace that works us as individuals.
