[Bonesmart.org] What I did on my summer vacation

So my pt session on the 22nd was cancelled online with no explanation or phone call. Makes me wonder what is going on. Of course, it's after 5 when I find out and they are closed. Guess next week will be my last one. I shouldn't have to call to find out why they cancelled on me.

I bet it has to do with insurance.

Yeah, but I have 17 more visits available this year. That's one per week until between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have MY goals I am trying to meet! But then again, I was in a car accident years ago and insurance stopped the PT even though PT said I still needed it. My neck hasn't been the same since. PT back then said I could still go, but I would have to pay it myself. Told them no thanks.

On the other hand, work has been ok. Last week was very tiring, and I fell asleep so suddenly at times on Saturday. Was in bed by 8 every night! Kids arrived yesterday and I was on my feet for a while, then I got kidnapped to work upstairs with last year's test scores that never got sent out. That's done, so I should be able to stay down here today. Hopefully it will stay calm.

Well, supposedly, cancellation was in error. I was wondering, 'cause they said they wanted me to start on new equipment in a while.

Are you too tired after a full day of work? You can always hold off until you're not quite as exhausted. I know what the beginning of the year feels like.

If you still have sessions for your knee ask them if they can help you out with your neck, too. Depending on their philosophy (the body is interconnected), they may be able to help with the neck.

Once I was going back to work I just quit PT. Work and my daily activities were all I could handle.

@KarriB
Last week was kind of rough. This week isn't over yet, but it seems to be okay. Today is rainy and I am feeling the achiness. The school is freezing cold, so it is affecting my whole body. My hands are not working because they are so cold. Yesterday my back was spazzing because of the cold. I forgot to bring an extra jacket today. My ankles and legs are freezing cold. Can't believe how cold it is in here. My operated leg feels like shin splints down the outside of it.

@PolarBear60
She probably would give me some exercises to do at home for neck. I asked about my hands and she gave me some. I also do a back exercise on a machine - very easy. Could probably add some weight, but I don't. I'll have to remember to ask.

@uva55 @newlybionic
That's what I go for - the bike at PT! I go at 6:30 AM, so it's all done by the time I get to school. Monday is the only day they have it open that early. Works out right now, except I can't stay the normal 2 hours. I can get in about an hours worth. So I don't have to do some of the exercises they wanted me to do, like squats!!! Dang.... they were my favorites.... NOT!!!!! I don't like to go anywhere after work anytime! So the morning PT works right now.

@birdwatchr i loved the recumbent bike at PT so much I now have one in my family room. I had a regular high exercise bike, but it hurt my bottom terribly. So we researched and found a very inexpensive recumbent bike that now sits in my family room. I can watch tv while riding my 5 miles and my back nor bottom hurts at all.

My classroom was not in the part of the building with AC, so teaching 1st grade in the heat and humidity every August/September was quite an experience. That's one of the reasons I'm sitting out this year. I'd spend all of August panicking over the weather, wondering how I'd get through the heat.

@birdwatchr I purchased an used recumbent bike, we have a store here that sells used sport/exercise equipment, I like the fact I can just do it when I am ready.

I hope you find a way to warm up!!

I went the other route and purchased a regular bike and a stand to put it in at home. I figured eventually I would be ready to ride outside and get some fresh air too. I should be ready in the fall to get out and going.

@newlybionic, is your outside bike harder to ride than the recumbent bike? I am using my recumbent in my den while watching TV, but I want to be able to ride outside and enjoy the scenery!

@sistersinhim It is slightly harder since I've only have been riding a recumbent bike for years. It took a little time to get used to it. I figured if I was investing the money I'd get both option s (inside and outside) at the same time.
