@Great Aunt Janet Red Tide doesn't come around too often in Florida on the Gulf Coast or Cape Cod, just comes by a certain set of circumstances, which is why I was blindsided with the worst asthma symptoms which I now know how to handle.
So… I had to look up 'cossies' as in bathing suit. I have a nice loose 'cossie' for exercises in the rehab pool. Believe me, it's not a fashion show. :rotfl:
@sunbunny & @Cindy99 just raised my breakfast table so that I can paint! I've had lots of time to look at the floorplan in my livingroom and I've decided that it would probably do me good to move around a raised table than to SIT anywhere! I need to get rid of this cane and sitting doesn't help. I'll let you know if it helps -- if not physically maybe mentally.

Great to know that the world still has its little differences @wcgirl! If you had been wcbloke, I might have said 'budgie smugglers' instead, but I bet you would have heard of that one.

Great idea about raising the table! It works at my work - I have a high counter that customers come up to, and I use it for anything I can too, because it is so much more comfortable being on my feet - and I haven't found it tiring at all. You creative types make me envious, I am not at all arty or clever with my hands, so my hobbies relate more to books and gardening (sometimes productive, often not). It would be good to get lost in something that has such a great outcome, but last time I attempted painting, my parakeet turned out more like a fat blue chicken thing! Good thing we are all different!

Well, I raised the table, and pulled out the easel which pretty much collapsed in my hands! I few replacement screws and a lot of awkward fumbling and it's good as new. A friend dropped a bouquet of huge white peonies and I've been practicing painting with those. Amazing how it clears the mind! I had to make myself pull out the sketchbook to get me going and it worked. I've also been working on painting note cards. I do a painting then scan and print out. @sunbunny 'how does your garden grow?'
Just got back from my 3rd outpatient therapy. The deep massage over the incision is ouchy :yikes: but I'm noticing that the bumpiness is starting to smooth out. And today I was back in the pool :yes!: with no pain going through my range of motion. I've been a bit disappointed with my progress but a good splash in the pool always lifts my spirits and bring me down to earth. :swim:

Interesting to hear about your massage and de-bumping of your wound @wcgirl - I have done a few feeble self massages, bunging on a bit of moisturiser, and I tremble at the thought of deep tissue! Ow indeed. I don't think I am brave enough, so my bikini look will just have to include lumps... actually, I think it already did.

@wcgirl so want to be in the pool and to regain some mobility. Hopefully my garden will bloom after my appt on Friday or well...........thanks for asking. So glad you are back with art. I have a corner in the office where I do art. Hmmm.interesting things have happened in there during the last eight weeks. Hubby does not throw anything away and there is quite a bit of disorder to deal with. At this point emptying the room seems to be the only recourse. Lol

Everyone into the pool!
OMGosh I had a great morning. I've been gradually walking (forward) around the house without my cane . After the last 2 sessions my PT had me on my stomach and bent my knee and pulled my heel back almost to my bum. Ochy! She really stretched that quad. Then into the pool with my Burdenko exercises that I had been doing for a year pre-op, and now I'm back to the beginning rebuilding my muscles after 7 wks away. My arms were tired but oh my hip and leg felt great. I'm looking forward to dinner out tonite. I have been in total rehab mode and now it's time to get out. But first, Time for a Nap!

Grand lass most certainly a Cheshire cat moment

Checked the calendar and it's 7 weeks ago today. I had PT this morning and the quad stretch got my heel to my bum and it didn't hurt. I also talked about stairs. I have a little arthritis in the left knee and it clicks. PT explained that this was the arthritis with my kneecap moving over some wear on the cartilage. I had it x-rayed upon my 1st visit with the OS. So I will ignore the noise, clench my glutes and walk step over step from now on. Ta Da! :egypdance:
I also talked about putting my shoes on. I still don't and haven't had that range of motion to put my left shoe on like I do with the right shoe. So that is my new goal. Slow and steady...
Went through the pool exercises working those glutes and 'something' that goes from my groin to my inner knee.
I'm still dragging the cane around but hold it more like a weapon than anything else. :heehee:

Isn't it amazing that the date starts fading in our minds, and you have to check the date now? Sounds quite fabulous for 7 weeks @wcgirl - are you talking about being able to bend to put your shoes on (you know, like a normal person)? I have to wait till 3 month point for that (3 more weeks!). How'd you do it?

Sounds really good and right to have a goal of shoe, is there a lower level goal you can reach first like error scratch heel . tad worried about weapon bit.

Well I 'lost' the cane. I had errands to do and left it home. I just squeeze those glutes, check my posture and off I go. I can bend and put my left shoe on the 'old' way -- kind of sideways. @Legin I did show the PT what I wanted to do -- bend my knee toward my chest and roll it out, then reach between my legs to put the shoe on -- and she said that I just didn't have the range of motion 'yet'! Sweet! So I'll continue working on my exercises and eventually I should feel that release -- no forcing. I'm still a little stiff getting up but after a wiggle or two I move forward.
Also, I've been sleeping for 7 hours a nite with one bathroom break. No more waking for pain meds with water. I am able to go to the pool between PT days and that has really helped tire me out. I take 2 days off totally from regimented exercise but of course they are filled with daily living activities to include stairs.:swim:

Brilliant @wcgirl - all the daily living stuff will keep you moving, and I love the sound of your shoe shuffles, ha!

Dog walking helps me correct my posture when I am being lazy, have to keep stopping for a sniff (them, not me) so it gives me a chance to re-focus, re-squeeze and stand tall before setting off again. I did buy a hiking pole but haven't needed to use it - but it might come in handy when I actually go on a real hike.
:happydance:

I don't have a dog, so I have to have a PT!
I love how well you have done @Great Aunt Janet. And you are not the lazy one cycling around all over. :bicycle1:
And working too! Keep up the good example. Hugs! :friends:

Great update @wcgirl -- it is so wonderful to get continuous sleep at night - this is the time when most of the healing and regeneration takes place -- good for you :)
