:rofsign: That's both an excellent reason and pretty good excuse for whining! I like it.

Whine away.....that's what we're here for....to listen. But, in the end, your body is in charge of this healing process and no matter how much you WANT things to go faster, you'll have to accept that your hip will be ready for no aids when it's ready. It IS weak....that's why it feels like it does. Patience, patience, patience and walking exercise will get you where you want to be.

Go back to Post #15 and re-read the BoneSmart Library articles Poppet provided for you....especially the one on how long healing takes.

Hi Upstater! I will be anxious to hear how your appointment with OS goes tomorrow regarding the brace. I cannot imagine!! I love the finger lake area of NY! So beautiful. I have genealogical connections to upstate/western NY which I did not know when I visited there! Darn! So now I have to make another trip to the area to do some investigation :) I noticed that your avatar is the WDW Castle at Christmas. Are you a Disney fan? We are and are planning a humongous family trip to WDW this December :happydance: :spin: :yay: and so I am keeping that as my goal to get moving as much as normal by then. I gotta keep up with three grandkids 5 and under!!! :dancy:

Shadow09 Thanks for the compliment on the Finger Lakes area. Sometimes we forget, living here, but our winters are very long and cold. Yes, I love WDW. On my bucket list was to see it decorated for Christmas. So last December I took my daughter and two grandchildren for a short visit. It was beautiful. Unfortunately I was in a lot of pain walking around that park so I think I will have to do it again, now that I have the new hip.

Back from OS visit! The brace went straight to the garbage and he lifted all my restrictions. I had a long list of things I wanted to do and he said yes to them all. What a relief. My knee is unhappy and doesn't really want to bend but it will get better. I asked about the sandals and he never heard of not wearing sandals being a restriction. He did say there will always be a risk of dislocation and not to put my leg in really unusual positions???? Is that just me, or is that all hip replacement patients? I didn't ask that question. He wanted me out of work another month, which I did not agree with so we compromised and I will go back the 29th, after a week (already scheduled) vacation. He said he doesn't return people for half days, he wants us to wait til we can work all day. I'm sure I can do that in three more weeks. He also said no dental work at all for six months, fine with me! They are all different in their advice, but we have to listen to our own surgeon, he knows us best. I'm very relieved after this visit, I sure had a lot of "what ifs" in my mind, all negative of course.

randy62 I admit I don't miss work. But I know this has been hard on my coworkers to pick up the slack for so long. Summer vacation season too.

Upstater yaaahhhhhoooooooo bye bye brace, will you burn it?:rotfl: I have a question for these people who say things like "don't put it in really unusual positions". What the heck is unusual?? What I mean by that and what he means by that are probably two entirely different things. I would say that the follow through on a golf swing is pretty unusual, but he didn't tell you no golf. Etc. There's your whine for you, want some cheese with that? :martini:
Take your time rehabbing that weakness! I had no brace and still feel weakness frequently!

Go celebrate, you deserve it for putting up with that thing for 2 solid months :):happydance:

zauberflöte I hear you on the unusual positions. He did say no foot behind my head. No problem. He said thinking about dislocation is a healthy worry but not to dwell on it. I'm a roller coaster rider...he said no problem. I forgot to ask what type of mayerials he used. But since I got the card to show airport security there's metal there somewhere. The brace went to the trash. He did say six weeks probably would have been enough. Ughhh I had it 8.

What wonderful news to lose the brace, I'll bet you won't miss that one bit!! onwards and upwards to the rest of your marvellous recovery.

Wonderful news Upstater I imagine that it feels great not to be wearing that thing. Hope does it feel for you having it off?

Upstater :) Yoohoo for you! Wonderful news. No more brace, no restrictions - that's great. Now you're back in action. You must be so relieved to have your questions answered and to throw away the brace. You did a good job tolerating it for so long - all to your benefit. Now the hip is fixed, and your knee will loosen up the more you use it in your everyday activities. So happy for you.
By the way, have you used the Elmore Oil yet, and how do you like it? I bet there are stores in your area that sell it.

Keep up the good work with your recovery!

See I red flagged myself on the unusual positions thingy. I am so proud of myself.

Yeah! Upstater !!! No more brace. So glad you could ditch it-sounded really uncomfortable. And, now he tells you it could have been six weeks? Yikes.
I was told at my six week exam that I could have no dental work for another three months. But, different strokes for different surgeons. Congratulations.

ByGosh I haven't tried the Elmore yet. Will try tomorrow on my sore knee.

Liveringer I was surprised how much swelling was under the brace. Now I really get the purpose of ice! My knee is very sore. But I slept in my side and slept all night!
