THR Turning point

I like being cool in general, but @Walkinginthesand I have been cold constantly with this surgery! I go to bed with the electric mattress pad on "broil" and don't generally turn it down until I have been there for a couple hours. Downstairs and in our home office, I crank up the heat...it's got to be the ice, but don't use it in bed any longer. But I have been turning up the heat in my office at work, too. Maybe that's because the high's have been in the 20's? Who knows. I'm sure the hot flashes will return by summer. Sigh.........

@Walkinginthesand Is that Lola in your photo? If so, she is very cute!! Spark chose me. I hope to have that happen again. Maybe a couple more times. My granddogs here 'on Island' seem to have a link to me. The now 50+ pound puppy, likes to jump on my 'old bad' leg. He hugs it while he's at it. His Mommy wants obedience classes, but is having a challenge finding one that fits into her schedule. All her prior dogs completed at least 2 levels. I haven't visited since I received my new hip. He feels the need to show me how glad he is to see me.

@AgilityDog Yes that is miss Lola! At the rescue, they told us she was a jack russel. But her LEGS grew so long and her hair is long also. We did a doggie DNA and she is 75% Jack but also spitz and curly haired retriever. Her legs and stance are the curly haired retriever. Look one up, funny looking coat on the retriever.
Lola picked my husband also. He had just had cancer surgery and our outings were to just walk rescues and “look” just to do a little walking. Lola came to him, jumped in his lap and was in our backseat in no time. :puppysmooze:

Hi @Poodles
I hope your weekend has been peaceful.
Recalling my mom worked on genealogy when I was younger.
I need to ask her about that, or see what she ended up with.....interesting!
Hope you don't get buried in snow today. We had our share yesterday afternoon and evening.
Getting Spring fever, I am
Best wishes for a great week!

@Layla It's been a hobby for over 20 years. In the "old days" I used to fly down to Salt Lake City to the Morman's Library. Amazing place with so much information in one place. Now it's cheaper to have a subscription to services.

Since you live in Minnesota, you know snow. We are wimps out here and we hadn't had any snow this winter, to speak of, until last week. I try to convince the snow to stay up higher...like 4,000'.

@AgilityDog THAT temperature is wrong on so many levels. Blessedly, even though it is snowing fairly hard, it had been too warm to stick all day, but is now!

AND I have had a full day without my cane INCLUDING cleaning out my Explorer (I couldn't do before my THR!!!) and getting rid of the crutches that were in there (in case of emergency) and set down the back seats and added back the dog beds for the boys, making breakfast (I can't hide from cooking any longer), signing up for a couple online classes and now it's time for the last of the Olympics! Breakfast for dinner tonight, WITH a glass of wine.

Fun week coming up. Work for 4 days. Friday is a meeting with a local hospice to set up a therapy dog program for them, then my birthday lunch with my best friend (6 weeks late), and Saturday the kennel club awards banquet. Sunday I hope to go back to class with Isaac...although modified. Back to NORMAL.

It is so good to feel good again. It has been too long. I feel better today than I did at Christmas!

Have a good week everyone!

Wonderful news, you sound good @Poodles
Looks like you have an action packed week.
Wishing you the best as you continue healing!

So happy you are doing well, Poodles. By that time the weather gets warmer, you will be ready to rock that new hip.
So happy for you!

Hi @Poodles
Wondering how you're doing and how the work week went...
Hope you have a nice weekend planned. We're hitting 45 here today.
Lowered the high 5 degrees from yesterday :tantrum2:
Spring is coming, I just know it is :praying:
Hope your weekend is peaceful!

It's my 6 week check up today. Six weeks and 3 days since I had surgery. WHEW!!!!!!!!!! It seems like a lifetime ago. I am hoping the next appointment I have is in 1 year!

The appointment is in 3 hours and 50 minutes and the day is FLYING by!!

@Layla, it was a great week and busy. Today is supposed to be 46 degrees and it's like having a heat wave after all the snow we had this weekend! This week "should" be normal and not hectic. I am hoping to be able to park in my normal parking place by the end of the week and not have to pick my way through the snowfield called a parking lot to get to the office!

Congrats on 6 weeks!
You must be doing awesome @Poodles Especially if you feel like surgery was long ago.
Update us on your appt. would love to hear....

Forty Six degrees sounds heavenly to me :heehee: We're in the throes of a snowstorm as I type 5-8 inches
up to a foot in some areas :tantrum: Calgon take me away! :bath:

Hi Poodles....wow how fast your recovery has been.Hope all goes well . Nice to see your back to business as usual. I see you had the anterior THR approach both times. Less invasive and many say faster with less restrictions during rehab than other approaches . The season is almost showing signs of blooming daffodils ready to show their pretty heads. Off to see the Amazon new Home office the Sphere up in Seattle. Not far from you too!
Time to Party..:cheers2:

@Layla My six week and three day check up was great. She wants to see me one more time in 2 months then we are done. Implants are perfect and I looked like I had a matched pair! Whew. I can go back to any activity I feel like doing and I wrote my dog trainer and "suggested" that we start back with private lessons this weekend if she has the time.

I got home and the gyno called and wants to do surgery to remove ovaries...with the mass. Oh, joy. Sooner the better for her schedule, and she isn't concerned about cancer from the report she got from the radiologists. I asked her to have her scheduler call me as we have reservations to begin traveling every other weekend beginning the end of March. Sigh.

We adopted a 9-month-old puppy this weekend...We "needed" 4 Standard Poodles, right?????? He is a blank slate and doesn't even know how to walk on a leash. Two goals this year with him...a CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title and a Beginner Novice title by December 31. And, once he turns a year (May 12) and we have had him 6 months, we will have him tested as a Therapy Dog. He is just so sweet.

@Hippielife OMG, how exciting going to the Amazon head office! I have to say, I think I'm a little jealous!!! i was just reading an article about the plants used. Amazing. There is a little tiny inch of the building somewhere that I helped build! If you run across it, send me a picture! Hahahahahaha! We order EVERYTHING from Amazon as I feel shopping is a giant waste of time. Sad...because now that I have a fantastic report from my Dr and I'm no longer using a cane, Gary will expect I will be doing the grocery shopping again. Sigh.

@Poodles
Big news day for you!
Great hip report, yes!
Gyn surgery? yes! to no cancer. But soon? Hope you can get it squared away before your travels begin. One less thing to worry over.
New puppy!?! So fun. You will have to update your avatar!

So happy things are well with you and you are double hippy Happy and ready to go.
Try not to overdo...things are still healing in there.
Let us know what your new pups name will be. How fun!

You're doing great! @Poodles
I'm so sorry you have to go through the surgery to remove your ovaries
but the best news is the radiology report looks good! :yay: I'm very happy for you.
A new puppy....how exciting. What's his name? Love the names you chose for your boys.
Hope your day is wonderful!

@Layla @Mojo333 @BeBe and EVERYONE else :)! Here is a picture of Jameson. Like the Irish Whiskey.

His original name was Kai. It just didn't fit Gary and I so well, and I wanted a multi syllable name for competition. Easier for him to distinguish from the commands like "sit, stay, come, down...". He picked up on it and all the other changes very quickly. This picture was taken after I gave him a haircut on Saturday. He had a mohawk which we felt was unattractive (in our minds) and it was grown out and misshaped. He had furry feet...a no no for Poodles, but great if he were a "doodle" of some type, which he isn't. We think he is adorable and he is so much fun!!!!!!!!!! Best of all, Isaac LOVES him. :happydance:
