I bet you'll start feeling better now that they've addressed your blood levels.. so glad your Dr's are being so responsive... the good news is you said your pain is pretty well controlled.. I hope that is still the case and you are having a very restful day.
Our recoveries are definitely not linear. But it's so exciting to be on the other side of things, isn't it?
Update when you can, glad you are through the surgery!! :yahoo:

Hi all. I feel a lot better today thank you. I had blood transfusion yest but didn't see Dr yest so not had yest blood results. Finally been to loo today 5 days post op. They changed my dressings yest and scar much longer than I thought. I think I have had a reaction to the iodine /dressings as my bum and top of legs itch so much.
Getting my exercises done.
Drinking lots of water.
Walking about when I can and resting when I can.
Xxx

My dressing itched like crazy too. Sitting on an ice pack helped! I hope you get some comfort

Happy Monday @Trendynan
Great news that you're feeling better today!
Sounds like things are improving. Don't forget to ice also. :ice:Target 40-60 minutes, no less, several times daily. I hope today is a good day.
Stay in touch!

Hi all

Day 6 post op

I was allowed home last night.
Stairs were excruciating. Woke at 4pm for the loo. Noticed dressing heavily bloodstained. Stood up and blood poured everywhere. Omg I panicked. Hubby rang ward and they said to go to A&E. Was so scared. Wound re dressed and sent home. They checked it and said one of the tiny stitch holes started bleeding and cos of the blood thinners it didn't stop. Assured me all OK.
Came home and gone to bed. Have slept well x

Oh dear, scary times. But at least you know the blood thinners are working! Hope you can get some rest.

Scary indeed! Glad you are now home, where you can get plenty of rest.

Whew @Trendynan !! That sounds terrifying! Glad A&E fixed you up and reassured you. I would have had a fit! Other A&E patients must have thought you were a gunshot case :snork:
So very glad you're home in your own bed. That can make all the difference to how you feel, I found.
Return to icing, elevating, meds by the clock, napping, walk a little here and there... get bored,,, Do Not Overdo It!!!! :rofsign:

Aww, I'm sorry you experienced that. It would be frightening for sure. Thankfully you understood why it happened, were relieved, cleaned up and released for home.
I hope you rest easy today. Wishing you comfort and a peaceful day!
@Trendynan

Oh my stars!!!
What a fright that must have been.:flabber:
Sorry you had that added stress...hopefully nerves are settled and you will have a restful healing day!:ice:

:console2: what a scary homecoming! Glad it was all attended to but I imagine that you are exhausted.
Hoping that today is a better day.

I hope all is better and the bleeding has stopped. Sounded so frightening for you. But being at home now is a plus and you will be so much more at ease and happier there. And it will expedite your recovery. I wish you peace, rest and pain-free days and nights.

Hi all
The blues have hit me today. Everything is wrong. I have knee swelling. Been icing. Without thinking have put the ice bag (one of those old fashioned ones you fill with ice cubes) straight on my knee and it's now red. Haven't done much exercise as knee too swollen
Have had pillow under my knees then read I shouldn't do it. Tried to get off the bed and completely forgot what I was doing and didn't get up properly. Now convinced I've dislocated my hip. It's not hurting and I can put weight on it.
Feel dirty cos I can't shower yet or wash my hair. Nearly didn't make it to the loo in time.
Hubby did my victoza inj for my diabetes and it jammed with the needle in my tum so had to do it again and was painful.
The bleeding has stopped but dressing looks awful. Stitches come out Tues anyway.
Can't stop crying tonight. I feel like i have a big lump attached to my side and I'm dragging concrete round.
Please tell me all of this is normal and I'm not losing the plot xxx

Hi there hope you are feeling better from you last post. I'm at a similarly post op to you at the time of your last post.
I was worried about the 'concrete lump' too but did a bit of research on how broken bones heal.
Its perfectly normal and call ed a callus. Should subside in 6 weeks or so as new bone takes its place. Thst can take months or years to remodel depending on the way tb e none is used.

lump time. Yelling at people who don't understand why my leg won't just move as it did yesterday.. Swollen a lot.

Dragging it with me to the freezer for ice.. Hubby says what's the problem? As he is hard of hearing he needs a loud voice and I am plain sick and tired of loud voice

You aren't losing it @Trendynan or if so we both are.
