TKR TKR leg length discrepancy

If a higher dose of gabapentin doesn't help, asking about a switch might be your next oprtion.
Many physicians are now prescribing Lyrica instead of gabapentin or changing to it if gabapentin isn't effective.

I saw my OS and I feel he did not understand that restless leg may happen after TKR. He wants to do an MRI of my lower back. He has taken. me off oxycodone. He says what he has done looks great at 6 weeks. Says he has no idea how to help me and I am on pretty large doses of Gabapentin already for my anxiety. Been extremely depressed. Lots of crying. Could not even get out of bed yesterday

I thought I had gotten past the restless leg doing everything that has been suggested. Heating pad I thought was helping then started again last night.

Pretty discouraged think I should have waited longer to do my second knee.

The post op blues are very real but they do pass. :console2:Your body is healing 2 knees now and that takes a lot of energy.

I’m sorry your doctor is not more understanding. Some of them really don’t know what the day to day recovery is like. That’s where Bonesmart comes in!

Hang out here with us, Bonesmart has a wealth of advice, information and support.
We will offer helpful suggestions,

Cheer your accomplishments :happydance:

And send hugs when you are feeling down. :console2:

Best wishes!

I strongly urge you to contact your primary care practitoner on Monday. The restless leg is way more in their purview than an OS. There IS an alternate medicine that can be tried.

I am so sorry for the way you're feeling, WTL, both physically and emotionally. :console2:

I second scheduling a visit with your PCP since your OS isn't helping you at this point. You can also speak to your Primary Care Physician about the depression you're struggling with currently.

Some tough love - :friends:
Please try to get up and get moving, as tempting as it may be to lay in bed, don't give in to it. Take a car ride, go out for coffee or a meal, invite a friend over for a visit, call someone who you know will boost your mood. You can't change the fact that you had your Left knee done three months after your Right knee...and it's okay. You will be okay! You are healing from the controlled trauma of two major surgeries and recovery can be difficult in the best of circumstances, but YOU WILL get through this. Do whatever it takes to occupy your mind, taking your thoughts off of recovery for a time and enjoy the weekly progress you're making. If you are not already, take notes on your progress, once a week, on the same day, and you will see that your body is healing and you are moving forward.
Make today a good day! You can do this! :yes!:

Hello WONTONLVR,
I just read a post of yours on another thread that pulled on my heartstrings. First, please know that you have friends here. While not physical friends, we are willing to support you emotionally to the best of our ability.

You mentioned retirement and depression in the post that I read. Retirement and the change in routine that accompanies it can feel overwhelming, as though you've lost your sense of purpose and self worth. Especially if those close to you are still working. Try to focus on some new goals, activities, classes, hobbies or even volunteer work and hopefully you'll meet some new friends with the same interests along the way. The daily structure and social interactions will help. Make this chapter in life better than the last. You CAN do this.
Hugs and best wishes!

Hello Everyone,

I am 8 weeks post op from left knee TKR 12 weeks prior I had a right knee TKR. My right side is fine except for occasional stiffness. On the other hand, I am wondering how long it takes for the leg cramping and insomnia to go away?

I see you tried magnesium spray for the muscle cramps along with some other natural remedies.
Wondering if you tried supplementing with Magnesium for any length of time?
If not, you may want to consider it.

Magnesium supports the following:
Bone health
Healthy blood sugar
Cardiovascular health
Muscle relaxation and nerves
Promotes healthy sleep (falling asleep and staying asleep)
