Sorry KayeKaye you are suffering from these root canals, upside though, as you stated, it is distracting you from feeling your knees. But its not good to have pain anywhere, that's makes you miserable. I do hope dentist is correct and you will be feeling well by Thurs.
I have had two root canals. 1st one several years ago, the procedure wasn't to bad at all, he gave me lots of happy gas, and prescribed me Vicoprofen ( which I not suppose to be taking nsaids of any type, but since it was a short period of time on them I just dealt with it, with no problem), he also prescribed an antibiotic too. The worst thing that happened with that tooth was I ended up swallowing the temp crown somehow on accident
. And even after the permanent crown I had to be very careful as one time, I was eating a piece of caramel, and the crown got yanked off, because it was stuck to the caramel, so no more caramel for me
.
The second root canal about 4 yrs ago or so, was much tougher for me, my dentist had to send me to a different dentist who was used to dealing with hard cases like mine. This time it was much more painful, and the Vicoprofen did not help any.
She even used a lot of happy gas too, but it was still awful for me. Then after she x-rayed it, she said she was not sure she got the complete nerve as there was a bend to it, and she was going to send me to yet another special kind of dentist, (I forget what they are called, but they only deal with root canals though). But after she sent the x-rays to him, he felt it was unnecessary for me to see him, and fortunately I have been fine since then (knocks on wood).
I guess with life, if its not one thing its another, and all we can do is try our best to stay well and healthy, even if means we need help from the medical field.
KayeKaye, I know you said this before, but I cannot remember exactly. They have not scheduled your surgery yet have they? I know you have been approved, correct? But have they given you any time frame when they may do it? And if I remember correctly, you are opting for the BTKR, right?
Anyway, sorry for rambling (its in my nature to ramble on
), but again good luck with the tooth, and may your surgery be uneventful, and you have an uneventful healthy recovery as well
