Yes, that is fine for now. However much you can do. Don't go overboard with any of it though or I will get scolded for telling you.

Ok, good to know. I feel so lousy with exercising, no worries about me going overboard, that's for sure. :ok:

Finally, had one root canal today at a specialist endodontist this morning and I am feeling fine. He was the best dentist I've ever been to, even the Novocain didn't hurt. Yay! I hope it is successful. One down, one to go, then I can schedule the knees.

Wow! Often the novocaine is the worst part. Onward!

Oh dear, now it feels like the temporary filling fell out and I have to go in to see. I hope it's ok, I can't get into the other dentist to get it filled till next Thursday. But a lot of the pain is now gone, so that's a bonus, I haven't really chewed on it yet so I don't know if it will be good or not yet.

Kneeper, I just hate the novocaine the worst. I can't believe how painless it was. I need to know his secret so my other dentist can use it, his is really painful. It was just a world of difference, it was like magic!

YAY! it was ok, the dentist said it was fine! I just didn't know if that recess in the tooth was ok or not and it is!

Yay! it was ok, just a recess in the tooth but the temporary filling is still intact! Whew

Had the second root canal last Thursday, which was really a revision from a failed one two years ago. It's just killing me. Didn't go as well as the last one. I'm on codine now, Tylenol 3. Upside is I don't feel my knees at all! I have knees? But my mouth is killing me. The Dentist said it should decrease in pain and be better by Thursday or call him again. ugh. Can't think or do a thing.

KayeKaye,
Boy do I empathize! I hope you get some relief very, very soon.
After my June fiasco from a failed root canal (that had just been done a few months before) I have yet another infection. I'm so sick of paying for root canals and crowns and then losing them anyway. This time I'm opting to go straight to the bone graft and implant. I hate my stinkin' teeth.
Hugs to you!!!!!

Sorry KayeKaye you are suffering from these root canals, upside though, as you stated, it is distracting you from feeling your knees. But its not good to have pain anywhere, that's makes you miserable. I do hope dentist is correct and you will be feeling well by Thurs.
I have had two root canals. 1st one several years ago, the procedure wasn't to bad at all, he gave me lots of happy gas, and prescribed me Vicoprofen ( which I not suppose to be taking nsaids of any type, but since it was a short period of time on them I just dealt with it, with no problem), he also prescribed an antibiotic too. The worst thing that happened with that tooth was I ended up swallowing the temp crown somehow on accident:groan:. And even after the permanent crown I had to be very careful as one time, I was eating a piece of caramel, and the crown got yanked off, because it was stuck to the caramel, so no more caramel for me:boohoo:.
The second root canal about 4 yrs ago or so, was much tougher for me, my dentist had to send me to a different dentist who was used to dealing with hard cases like mine. This time it was much more painful, and the Vicoprofen did not help any.
She even used a lot of happy gas too, but it was still awful for me. Then after she x-rayed it, she said she was not sure she got the complete nerve as there was a bend to it, and she was going to send me to yet another special kind of dentist, (I forget what they are called, but they only deal with root canals though). But after she sent the x-rays to him, he felt it was unnecessary for me to see him, and fortunately I have been fine since then (knocks on wood).
I guess with life, if its not one thing its another, and all we can do is try our best to stay well and healthy, even if means we need help from the medical field.
KayeKaye, I know you said this before, but I cannot remember exactly. They have not scheduled your surgery yet have they? I know you have been approved, correct? But have they given you any time frame when they may do it? And if I remember correctly, you are opting for the BTKR, right?
Anyway, sorry for rambling (its in my nature to ramble on:yawn:), but again good luck with the tooth, and may your surgery be uneventful, and you have an uneventful healthy recovery as well:flwrysmile:

Thanks Sheryl and Nyland I know you do understand. This is just awful. It's so painful I can barely stay focused enough to type. The Dentist called and thinks it will get better in a week. But said to give it three weeks.

I have to have all my dental work done and healed before they will let me schedule my knees. So three weeks from now wait and see what this tooth is doing. If I have to deal with this tooth again, it will probably be pulling it. So that will be another 3 weeks of healing if nothing goes wrong. I hope for insurance sake to get the knees done before the end of the year. Time is slipping away fast.

Good luck KayeKaye, will be praying you can your surgery done before the end of the year.

Sorry you mouth his hurting so much. That is a terrible pain, and it does cause you to be unable to think. It makes your whole head hurt.

My tooth is getting better, still haven't had the permanent filling put in yet. Amazing that now my knees are in full pain since I eased off Tylenol 3. Tylenol 3 certainly took care of the knee pain. That's good to know I guess.

It's been about 11 months since I started this Knee odyssey and I'm really frustrated. Tooth won't settle down, dentist only in on Thursdays so it's a week at a time and starting to add up to a month. I'm getting extremely bored with my lack of ability to do anything but drive. Not even doing much housework. Can't focus to my art or computer work. Ok sorry for going on and on, just so frustrated. :skep:

Root canal won't settle down. Dentist said to wait at least two months before deciding what to do next, as in pull the tooth. So that puts me into the next year and that means insurance deductible starts over again. Too bad, this would have been all paid for if it happened before the end of the year. Talk about frustration.

You go on all you want. petal! You have reason. This is getting a real soap opera and I feel your frustration. Personally I'd have the wretched thing extracted but then, I'm not one for dentists!......

Thanks Jo. I already have a missing tooth right under this one in question so that's why the effort to save it was used. But now that I know, I have calmed down a bit. Maybe I will take on some projects I have putting off now that I have some time on my hands. And it sees my through the holidays without surgery so that is bonus on some level. Thanks again.

Well my root canal is settling down bit by bit, still can't totally chew on it.:)

So nothing will happen before the end of the year. Meanwhile I have been doing nothing as the knee pain ramps up. It's been a year now since I got the Synvistic One shot in my right knee. I guess it has really helped because now it's starting to wear off. And I can tell the increased pain in the left knee that had no shot. So now I am wondering about getting those in both knees again. Mayo clinic said I had to be free of all shots for three months before they would schedule surgery for next year. I noticed the Synvistic One shot didn't take affect for several months though so maybe cortisone would be better. I'm so confused.

Tried to go shopping the other day and it took me 2 days to get over the increased pain even with my meds. Haven't decorated the house at all.

I am getting so weak from non-activity. Even the quad tightening exercises hurt. So frustrating. :headbang:
