True Julie. And spoil them I do! I just got home yesterday and am already missing my Phoenix babies. But when I'm in Phoenix, I miss the Kansas ones. Can't win!

Roxie, I'm ready for them, but, alas, my two very single and both unattached at the moment children definitely are not!

@bluejuju I work in a busy hospital lab. Depends on the day if I'm on my feet a lot, up and down, or mostly sedentary. I will squeeze icing in somewhere!

If you have regular breaks, you may just need to head for the break room and make it a priority to ice every single time. I'm betting you'll do just fine!

Wish they could invent a sock that could hold an ice pack, but still allows us to be mobile.... hmm..

Folks, much as I hate to be a party pooper, this kind of exchange is specifically NOT permitted in the recovery forums. We need this place to be fairly free of 'fluff' so people who are in distress or urgently seeking information can find what they need. This also applies to our many, many guests who daily browse the BoneSmart forums looking for help.

I do hope you can understand this and will co-operate. The rule for this can be found here Announcement regarding off topic, 'fluff' or nonsense posts

Therefore, I have moved all the Bora Bora posts into this thread in the Social Room Bora Bora where it will be more appropriate. Thank you

Today is 12 weeks.

Tomorrow I return to full time work (busy hospital lab) for six hour shifts for a few weeks. We'll see how it goes.

I still have a lag doing straight leg raises. I'm supposed to use this rental stim unit and alternate quad exercises with the leg raises, but after five I feel it in the knee, so I stop the leg raises and just do the quad squeeze/press.

The flexion's coming along, it's been hanging around 115, but I am so stiff in the morning and it takes a while to loosen up, and then it's really stiff in the evening, too.

I haven't taken anything for sleep the last couple of nights, am planning to be stingy with the muscle relaxants.I can sleep through the night with the muscle relaxant. Without them I wake up a couple of times, hit the bathroom once, and toss and turn for a while each time I wake up. I've been taking the Motrin / Tylenol cocktail. The OS doesn't want me taking the Tylenol, the NP recommends a max of 3,000 mg, no more than that. Benedryl does nothing for me. One night last week I took half a Percocet but I hate the headache it leaves me with the next day.

@tigz i did find that going back to work helped me sleep. Teaching, even half a day then going to PT 3x a week was exhausting. I hope that'll be the case for you as well as an easy return to work.

Sure hope that's the case, @KarriB! My son is now working second shift so I'll only be fixing dinner for two. Hubby doesn't cook but at the same time he isn't picky. Simple dinners coming up!

I hope today goes well and sets your mind at ease that you can do this! It sounds like you are making good progress -- 115 flexion is great! Bummer on the sleeping issue. Once I finally cut back to just percocet at night, I had the same issue -- woke up with a headache that seemed to linger most of the day. For me, it finally reached the point where it wasn't worth it.

What is your OS's reason for wanting you to completely cut out the Tylenol? It almost seems to be a matter of "pick your poison" doesn't it?

I'll be thinking about you today.

Roxie

I just had a co-worker text me and ask me if I was ready for tomorrow and I gave her a one word answer NO! LOL

The OS doesn't like Tylenol because he's seen patients where 2000 mg caused liver damage.

You might suggest to your surgeon or your GP that they let you try Tramadol for the pain or trouble sleeping you have at this point in your recovery. It is a step down from Percocet - still a prescription drug, but not a controlled narcotic - and most doctors are okay prescribing it when you need something to help.

My sleep was improving by the time I got back to work. Once I went back to work I would go to bed by 9 pm and sleep fine. Some nights I was still taking a hydrocodone before bed though.

Thanks for the Tramadol suggestion, @Jamie. Will see if the NP might write me a script for that!

I was sleeping fine for weeks before the MUA, @keeper. I have only had a couple of solid night's sleep since.
