MUA Tigz's Lessons in Patience

@Kansas Teacher that makes sense, and with my scar predominantly on the inside of my knee, there was a lot of work there!

@Jamie could you change my thread title to

Tigz's Lessons in Patience

?

Also you might want to change the thread tag to MUA t tag.

Thanks!
Julie

Catching up... Been MIA for a few days. Sounds like you are doing great. So nice to hear a positive MUA, it is so feared for some reason!

@JennyLynne It is a lot of work afterwards, and working through the painful quads, but it's worth it.

I think the knee's protesting the daily PT every night though. It's been hard to get comfy the last couple of nights.

@bluejuju I got me to 117 yesterday and the PT managed 121 after stretching me... and it was a painless 121!

Wow!!! Way to go! you are on the homestretch now. That's all you needed was a good bend.

Still have a lot of stiffness, especially in the morning, but lots of gentle exercises, because I know they are not as gentle at PT. :)

Well today she definitely wasn't gentle. I told her I felt very stiff when I walked in. My ROM was down from yesterday (111 on my own, yesterday was 117) and instead of a positive response she said "you're going the wrong way" . And a "you're fighting me like you did before (the manip)". I told her if she kept telling me that I'd definitely be fighting her!

She wanted me to do the stim as I did yesterday, with straight leg raises, and I refused, but said I'd do it without the leg raises. My quads still aren't firing normally and she talked about renting a machine to use at home.

Sigh. Rollercoaster, hmm?

It doesn't help this is my fourth day in a row, ya know?

Evening edit: I've come to the conclusion the cumulative effect of daily PT is playing havoc on my sleep and my emotional well-being. It's not just the flexion that's being worked on, but also the weakened quads (which is evident when I do sitting knee extensions and supine terminal knee extensions - can't get full extension on either exercise) and the extension (today was 5...I'm happy with that...why can't they be? I was 15 prior to surgery!).

It is so hard to not focus on the numbers...for ROM is what it is all about. I have decided to forget about my 95 at 9 weeks, but to look at the things I can do...

I can walk without the use of an aide.
I have lost my old lady shuffle.
I can sit on a toilet seat.
I can get into a car( maybe not as gracefully as I would like-but I'm in).
I can ride a stationary bike.
I can dress myself.
I can kneel (only when I have to).
I can shop with a grocery cart.
I can weed wack the lawn.
I can drive.
I can live again with minimal pain (just from my other knee).

We can do these things @tigz...regardless if our numbers are 95 or 120. We can live life.
Keep your chin up, my friend. It is all good.

@bluejuju I think I shall quit PT before I graduate, because I can do all the major tasks I need to in life!

No. ROM is not what it's all about.. Function is far more important than the numbers.
Look at all the things @bluejuju can do. With the ROM you have, I bet you'll be able to do those too.

As long as you're happy with your progress, your PT needs to be happy too.

Thank you! BTW I'm pretty sure the post I requested the change in was properly tagged, and Android does not have any dropdown box to select the user name....would be nice if it did though! There's also no way for me to check tags to see if they are live links.

But that's ok, it'schanged. :-)

@tigz, you are correct you did tag properly---but the copy of your request in a report made by a forum adviser did not show that a tag was made. If you check back, you will see that I deleted the info on tagging. However, I guess the main thing is that your request was honored. Have a great day!
