MUA Tigz's Lessons in Patience

Thank you @iivesfam5. Last week my sister was doing more cleaning out of the house and came across a bday card he meant to send me but never did. She makes it to me and of course I cried buckets. Oh, and tomorrow marks the second anniversary of my oldest sister's passing.

I think that plate is overflowing!

Waiting is so hard. Hope Wednesday gets here quickly for you.

I'm sure some resolution with your fathers home and burial are bittersweet. Never easy.

@tigz...my condolences on the loss of your Dad and sister. So hard to go through. I have a funny feeling that when you go for your MUA they will tell you that you don't need it. I think this rest from PT has probably been beneficial to you. Even if you do have the MUA, I hear it is only sore for a few days. Besides, they won't send you back to work till you are ready.

awwww so sad..... I am so sorry for all your sadness but you have angels watching over you for your MUA........

@blujuju oh I wish, but my ROM is probably about the same as it was with my last PT. I can push it with my wall slides, but it doesn't "stick". I've really cut back on the exercises the last couple of weeks, too.

@iivesfam5 you got that right! My father was in need of new knees for years but he refused to do the surgery because he hated the arthroplasty so much! My sister had ACL surgery several years ago.

@Kansas Teacher thanks! Hopefully the MUA will be a fresh start for the second half the year.

What a gorgeous day in Maryland! Low humidity, barely hitting 80° today. Summer will probably be back tomorrow, but I'm enjoying open windows and the breeze today!

Sorry for loss. I've been so frustrated with it all to. I cry often. But guess it's a part of it. We all are in this together to lean on one.
Best luck on MUA. Thank goodness I did not have to get one. Oh was I scared. Xxxxx

My incision is straight down. They have all kinds ways of doing them. I forgot sight I went to before knee replace. Oh and it scared me. Saw one curved and one on side I said no way. Like I said no to staples lol.

@Angel1978 it's a very up and down experience, isn't it? This site is so good for support!

I'm stiff, but I really don't have a lot of pain otherwise. I guess that'll change in two days, hmm?

Thanks for the good thoughts for the MUA.

The surgeon extended and followed my original scar from surgery I had for instability when I was 16. He didn't want to create more scar tissue in other areas of my knee.

Yes it'z up and downz. Great surgeon for doing that. Most do what they want. Oh I can relate to stiffness. It sucks. Xxx

@bluejuju It does eventually go away. I was chatting with a retired co-worker through Facebook the other day. Her TKR is a year and a half old and she says most of the time she forgets it's not the knee she was born with.

I have had late mornings / afternoons where the feeling has virtually disappeared, what reminded me was my lack of bend, so I can see a very distant light at the end of the tunnel.

How about the sensitivity along the scar....about a year for that, too? I can't sleep with anything touching my leg...

I'll have to ask her that. PT have me a sleeve to wear for swelling and I'm still wearing it, so during the day the scar is covered. It feels funny when I first get in bed and the sheet touches it but that doesn't last too long.

I've been sleeping pretty good the last couple of nights.

They'll be calling me some time today as to what time to be there for the MUA tomorrow.

@tigz ...Did you get a time for your MUA? I was pleasantly surprised today- went to PT as I haven't gone in a week. All that I have been doing is walking the dog three times a day, but a lot of ice and elevation all week. My ROM went from 95 painfully at 6 weeks out to 100 comfortably at 8 weeks- so I am doing a Josephine mantra and not exercising but letting the swelling go down! I guess I am a true tortoise for sure....

Thank you @iivesfam5 !

@bluejuju that's AMAZiNG! Keep up... not doing much? LOL

I'm scheduled for 9:30 tomorrow morning. It's an outpatient center in the same building as my doctor and where I've been doing PT. The PT told me to call to give them my procedure time so they'll have an idea when I'll be down. I did, but the unfamiliar voice that answered the phone said they were booked solid and no one could see me until noon. I didn't like her attitude and will mention that to someone at some point. I'm expected to have PT, so if they can't fit me in right away (and who knows when exactly that will be since I have to go through the recovery), shouldn't she just say something like we'll see you tomorrow and deal with it then? Poor customer service on that girl's part as far as I'm concerned.

Really. People should be sensitive and realize how much we have been through already....we don't need attitudes at this stage of the game. So 9:30- you should be back home and resting by 1:00pm.... hope you can get a good night's rest and not worry too much. it will be over before you know it!!
