    Day 18

    Good sleep - no issues.

Did a few of the supine exercises, then iced and elevated. Bit of walking about house unassisted. Short excursion unassisted outside and then back. Still tender, but less so than yesterday.

Some muscle soreness on the top of my thigh, but also easing a bit.

    Day 19

OK sleep ... dropped to 500 mg Tylenol at bedtime.

Feels a bit better ... easily doubled outside walking distance unassisted from yesterday - a bit less than Day 9.

    Icing and elevating.

And, am noticing a bit less swelling on buttocks around the surgical site ...90% of bruising is gone with 10% still yellowing out.

STILL have some yellowing from bruising on inside of thigh ... pretty amazing ... I usually don't bruise easily. Wonder what they did to me :). I do NOT want to see the video ...

Completed second walk outside ... but faster the second time today.

Only thing curious - when walking with my left hand on the incision site, I feel either the ball rotating in the socket, or the tendons moving back and forth. Thoughts on this? I don’t know that I ever felt this on the other hi, nor do I feel it now. Is there a period of time required for the two components to seat?

    Three Weeks!

Slept well ... some on the incision.

Went to gym with wife ... 4-5 minutes on elliptical, then rest and walk and light upper body workout. Then repeated. Felt ok, but stopped there!

    Back on ice and elevate.

The components fit well - your surgeon will have checked this several times before finishing. What you might be feeling is the muscles and soft tissues that have not yet firmed up around the joint. Most new hippies feel all sorts of clicks and clunks just post op. This will fade - just give it time.

    Jaycey,

Yes ... i agree - I’ve seen the devices, they are VERY well made and made in one respect to eliminate friction with ceramic ball and cryogenically hardened plastic cup. It also feels like it is lateral to the device, sounds like what you are describing.

    Day 22

Made it around the corner, I think.

After the very light elliptical work, goofed off afternoon with some ice and elevate, took nap, then three hours of Bands on the Beach last night ... but, no dancing!

Slept great ... probably a couple hours on op hip side. I knew I was doing it, so still not sleeping through the rollover ....

Seems a bit “looser” today ... swelling continuing to abate.

Hot, so walking house 15-20 minutes at a time.

Bands on the Beach...hmm, that sounds fun.
Sit back and chill with a cocktail and watch everyone else act crazy.

Notice how your gait changes while walking on sand (if you did)
It's more of a workout. Beach sand provides an unpredictable and uneven walking surface. This can place increased stresses, strains and loading on your joints. Walking in the softer sand requires increased energy expenditure, forcing you to work harder, compared to walking on an even, firm surface. The foot will sink slightly into the sand. This will provide the least amount of stability, which forces you to use muscles throughout your legs more.

So were you wiped out afterward? After that little paragraph above, thanks to Mr Google, you can now tell me you didn't walk on beach sand and to mind my own biz. :heehee:

Happy Wednesday! Hope you have a good one!

Ha ... no, was venue beside the beach ... about 3’ above beach ...

I would definitely agree wrt walking in sand ... lots of unwanted lateral stress! Don’t do It!

    Day 24

Back at the gym ... elliptical and walking ... no issues ... still feeling a bit better each day.

Back driving pickup truck ... just being careful in and out ...

    Still icing and elevating.

    Day 25

At truck dealer getting oil changed and tires rotated in prep for quick holiday to Colorado Springs, Denver and Aspen ... visit friends, see kids ... feels NORMAL!

Wasn’t thinking this morning while walking, wife said, “you look normal!”

Not the end of the tunnel, but I can see some light!
