Re: New hip 13 September
I wrote about massages in the knee replacement but i feel i need to put it here. I was told by the doctors that massages help heal the operated area by giving it blood supply and helps with pain. Now i know there are many different types of massages so I did lot of research. I also talked to PT about it. they helped me to get started and on the way to healing. I was told after you have surgrey you start lightlly massage the area, I mean very lightly, then as the it heals and pain get less you can go heavy. After a month or so depending on the surgery i got to the doctor to get cleared before I have the full body massage. My knee and hip have been numb and the knee has returned to 100% to normal but not yet my hip but it is getting better. It also helps with stiffness and the pain. One surgrey I didn't do this and it still has some numbness but it now is getting better. Since massages get blood to all parts to the body not only does it help the area hurt but the whole body. I have had massages for over 20 years and I feel its helped me also to remain limber. I know massages are expensive but i feel if it helps healing and helps keep the whole body healty why not. I have tried many and some i liked and some just didn't work. I also read a article it helps swelling and arthrits (sp) so why not? I just thought I would mention this because if I am faithfull doing this I need less pain pills. I still do and I have no intention to give this up. Just a thought, It worked for me and do make sure the person that does do the massages are licenses and prove they know what they are doing. Just thought I would mention this because It has greatly helped. :doggieshmooze:Tashia:yes 4: it's also good for tension!
